Hi fellow Kaleun,
On popular demand i decide to release the torpedo mod as solo to please all the demanding and serious sailors we have here:salute:
At first this mod was supposed to have only the G7a and G7e but now the good news for you guys is that all 11 fish have been redone with texture and shadow.
New warhead for accoustik type and luckily for all since i am not a company i include a version for low specs system at 512x512 instead of the high end sys one at 1024x1024.
If you are happy with the mod please tell us the adventure of your first sinking with the new torpedo with picture if possible.
Here the readme from the zip file :
Torpedo_HAHD version 1.0
Author Hans Witteman.
This mod is for SH3 ver. 1.4b game patch.
This mod completely replace the stock torpedo 3d models and propeller to correct historical length and diameter.
The menu showing torpedo in game are also change to represent the new torpedo.
All new textures for each torpedo based on historical details and pictures from a private collection album of a friend of mine.
Each torpedo now have shadow to enhance the more detail models.
Underwater wake trail are now longer for G7a and shorter and fading fast for G7e.
G7a have a longer surface wake.
Included in the package texture of 1024x1024 and 512x512 for people with lower specs system.
Compatibility :
Probably compatible with all version of SH3 patch to 1.4b but will replace all torpedo data file and will work with stock torpedo value.
Installation :
JSGME ready just extract to your mod directory and choose Torpedo_HAHD_1024 if you have a good video card or use Torpedo_HAHD_512 for lower specs system.

Yes i will always made my mod to accommodate folks with lower specs sys seem like in company mentality everyone was born in a rich suburb from rich parents:o If only they knew what reincarnation is and mean tomorrow they would donate all their fortune to charity :har:

It mainly graphical with wake and particle ajust to my taste the value for the torpedo are vanilla Sh3 but i didn't write version 1.0 for nothing with the permission of the GWX team i could use the GWX torp settings.

I am currently reuploading the mod to mediafire it seem they limit us a bit to only 5 update so i have to create another folder and reuploading it should be there in 5 min sorry this one was not my fault:O:

They're sure beautiful - echt meisterhaft! It's only sad that they're so dark on my pc. The reason is probably environment used - I use OLC environment. I would like to try removing the shadows (or lightmap), it would probably help (?) - what section in s3d in torpedo.dat should I delete or which option change? I have some small experience with it so I can do this myself.

The torpedo.dat most probably doesn't contain any physics information, so it's not a problem. The important informations are in torpedo.sim and torpedo.zon. I've had a campaign patrol with Hans mod on GWX SH3 and everything works as before :up: Just the surface wake for T1 is shorter, I don't know if its good or bad from realism point of view.

Its probably easy to mod. I suppose it is "totalwaketime" (its the length of wake?) and "maxwakequads" (what's this for?) options in torpedo.dat.
The difference between Hans mod and GWX is quite big (but I'm not sure if I have an unmodified gwx torpedo.dat)
For example for G71 T1:
Hans:
TotalWakeTime=5,0
MaxWakeQuads=20
GWX:
TotalWakeTime=30,0
MaxWakeQuads=800

I am please to see the positive feedback on my first release and i will make a new version for GWX but at the moment my GWX version is not install so if anybody can send me the GWX torpedo.dat, torpedo.sim, and i am not sure if the zone.cfg is modify so i can change the value to those of GWX.

It should not be long i am on it by tomorrow it should be done and also the video of the re commissioned U-3 in all it former glory.
I just finish the new bow and aft spray plus the waterholes they look just the way i want, i have made new caustic reflections map for underwater hull and they look much more realistic now.
New sea foam map to and so many others, the minute i think it is over i found a new area of the game i want to change:salute:

Also i noticed some smooth groups were wrong on the torpedo giving distort shadow i will correct this and call it version 1.1.
And U-3 should make it first appearance in the evening first time we will have a real 3d deck, at first i though it will be to much for the game engine but surprisingly it work with almost no impact on fps.
What i have learn so far on the engine is that object work best as separate chunk.

It is. No problems in GWX with this mod, its only graphical. I've had already two long patrols with it and GWX+OLC environment. GWX just has some other graphical details, like other torpedo wake graphics over and under water.
Also i noticed some smooth groups were wrong on the torpedo giving distort shadow i will correct this and call it version 1.1.
Maybe its the reason for how dark they are?
And U-3 should make it first appearance in the evening first time we will have a real 3d deck, at first i though it will be to much for the game engine but surprisingly it work with almost no impact on fps.

Glad you like them and yes i think the smooth groups was making them darker at certain angle, now everything is fine i simply detach the outer body and re attach and it fix the problem.

Hi Reaper7, That exactly the reason i won't put a finger on SH5 it is on my shelf to collect dust for eternity. SH3 was the first simulation to make my jaws drop on the floor and for me it is only the beginning i still have the VIIC_HAHD and many others part of the game that i want to put my hand on. I also start to make real 3d damage on ship sinking it is a mix of 3d and 2d alpha channel but the visual is excellent so far some videos will show it soon. Best regards Hans

Thank for the positive comment this torpedo mod is already part of U_BOOTTYPIIA_HAHD and the mod will be release around Halloween i change almost everything and it centered on the typ IIA.
Stay tuned and you will see new videos from it as soon as my internet provider give me a decent connection:har:

I must say that I was nicely surprised when I saw your new torpedoes...Your mod is a piece of art...I don't have SH3 on my comp,but I have SH4 with OM mod...I imported your mod in OM and it looks fantastic...

I don't know if it is possible to adapt it to SHV but like i said in the first page full permission are granted to anyone who want to adapt it to their own mod as long as the credit mention the maker:salute:
