Have you ever noticed a strange behavior from the water?
Every 20-30 seconds the water engine resets itself and the sea becomes drastically different. Beside being very disorienting this really kills the immersion.
I'm experiencing this problem since SH4, maybe it's related to ati cards, i don't know, just tell me that's not hardcoded as i think.

Hydrophone contacts are always on a specific degree, example:
20° -> no signals
21° -> enemy ship
22° -> again no signals
This is a SH5 only problem (does not happen in SH4) and, I think that's not very realistic cause the enemy engine sound should become weaker, not suddenly disappear. The worst part is when the enemy ship is between two degrees, for example on 21,5° cause in this case the sound it's not even audible (there's not such degree on the hydrophone, I have to wait until the ships moves to 22°).

#1 I've seen this issue on both an ATI and an Nvidia card, it appears to be independent of any of that, and yes, it is really annoying.

I have an ati 5870 and it fixed the water resetting itself .
Try RenderAheadLimit=3 and see if that works .

I've been sqeeking about the Sonar Station bugs since release. IMO, In it's current state, the Sonar Station is pretty much not usable and kind of defeats the purpose of the game. I really dont think to many SH5 users have tried to do a Sonar ONLY Torpedo attack or else there would be many more posts related to these issue's.
The fact that Benno(Sonarman) does not report Unknown Contacts and identifies contact's at extreme long range also defeats the purpose of using the Sonar Station. Kind of looks like Ubi gave the Sonarman Super(Magic) Abilities to cover up bugs or game features they didn't finish.

I'm already using this mod, but it only helps with the camera lag.

About the second problem: i often used the hydrophone in SH4 when hunting, especially at night, one time i sunk a ship almost 3km away with no visual hints from the periscope. The situation with the SH5 sonar station is very annoying, i hope it will be fixed soon.

Ya Beast,

I've been reporting problems with the Sonar / Hydrophone issues since SH5 first came out.

Can anyone address these issues? To me, these issues are primary for good game immersion. (now that the TDC issues have been fixed by DW and Reaper.)

somewhere there would be a file with the spread angle for the hydro detection .
