DATA:
-Torpedo mechanism: Magnetic pistol
-Torpedo's depth: 12m (1m underneath the ship)
-Result: Medium size hole created on the bottom, port side, 1/3 ship's length from the bow
-Sea condition: calm
-Sinking time: 15min

True or false? :hmmm:
(I am using GWX3.0 sinking mechanics)

I'm guessing that the placement of the damage is a factor too, i.e. does the hull rupture cover just one compartment or is it spread over 2+ compartments where the torpedo exploded under a bulhead causing greater damage than an explosion in the center of a compartment section.

I presume the 3D models' zones are configured this way, making torpedo placement a factor in flooding times.

:hmmm:

True. But a 48000tns Battlecruiser is to take negative buoyancy from flooding in 15min? From one hit? :hmmm:

I don't think so. It shouldn't even sink just from flooding from one torpedo. There might be a succession of onboard catastrophes from the hit, but that would then take hours.

Agree. Is there any reliable ship damage/sinking mechanics mod around? :hmmm:

I sank the Hood it took 4 torps and over 1/2 hour to sink!

odd!!!!!

It is not now, nor has ever been a perfect Game.
Maybe there is a small flaw in the damage model.
Maybe there's not.
Maybe you got Lucky.

There is NO reliable sink Mod anywhere.
Infact?
Even the Freaking U.S. Navy can't say EXACTLY how
any of thier Ships will sink!

It is, after all is said and done?

A Game!

After so many years -almost 6 now- of fun, research and immersion SH3+GWX3.0+mods is not just a "game" for me. Is an alternate reality. GWX3.0 is the greatest mega-mod ever made for this game and all I m trying to do here, in this forum, is to bring out the strong and the (few) weak points of it in order to make it better. OF COURSE nothing and nobody's perfect BUT only when you admit your weakness you can rise.

With respect

Hello !

I´ve read in many historical Books about Torpedo Hits that in principle Possible is, with one Torpedo Hit (Under Keel shot) a war ship (Battlecruiser) to sink to bring ! ;) But I´ve not read about the sinking time of an Battlecruiser.

Best regards,
Magic
