ive been wondering jhapprich,
i have a Red October model made with Pro ENGINEER i would like to convert to SH4 for this project (and standalone V1.5/1.4).
if you let me, i could implement it into CWSS.

ive made a thread requesting a Pro Engineer .asm/.prt converter to SH4 .dat files. :up:

its got all the bells and whistles, including 18 (yes, 18) Missile tubes :rock:
still gotta do the animations though. ;)

conning tower of hotel is so nasty and aggressive looking.

no, it is a model based upon the skipjack.however the sail, the planes, stabelizers and missile compartment are all-new.

Good evening,
Iam quite new to this Forum, so I hope I wont be asking a already answered question. But first up well done to all the moders for the incredible work they put into making these new subs, and sharing them.

Unfortunately I could not try out any subs yet. Because whenever I trie to download one, it asks me for a password. Could Someone let me know what the password is? And can you use these subs for SH 4 Version 1.4 or does it have to be 1.5 (if so is there no way you can use them on 1.4)

I hope someone can help me out a bit.

Yea, special thanks to Jhapprich and the rest of the team for all those new subs. Hopefully we'll see the whole mod soon. At the moment, as I understand, almost all the ships are under construction and for this reason the links are dead.

Question. I remember playing Foxtrot class sub and thinking how easy it was to avoid escorts and sink them with homing torps. In this mod will the destroyers also be upgraded to Cold War standards? Will they fire homing torps at me? Or will they try get on top of me again and try to depth charge me? A few pages back here you guys were saying that homing torps don't change depth very well to chase the player. Does this mean no torpedoes for the escorts?
Also you were talking about the planes earlier and mentioned planes dropping torpedoes. Will that really be implemented? If it is hard to make the torpedo change depth, is it possible in this game for a torpedo to get above the diving sub and "spawn" a few depth charges that will sink and hit the sub? I know it might sound stupid, but we have to improvise to squeeze the modern physics into WW2 scenario.
Another question is about the cruise missiles from Echo II sub. First of all, can we really fire them and the enemy boats? I saw screen shots with missiles flying, but are they really operational?

There will be both guided and non-guided torpedoes for the subs.the destroyers will be upgraded with more effective sensors and weapons. concerning AI homing torpedos, i haven´t done much about it yet.letting a torpedo spawn depth charges is a good idea, i wantet to try something similar but by now, i cannot tell if it works. the strategic /SLBM´s and the cruise missiles are fully operational, to get an idea of it, download my Charlie-I/Charlie-II mod.

About the cruise missiles. Will the surface ships have any way to defend themselves from the cruise missiles?
Also, is it possible to lay mines in the submarine?

Hey guys, is someone still in position of a working link for a modern(cold war) nuclear sub? Preferiably a sub carrying nukes.
I already tried these subs here Career Playable OscarII, DeltaIV, VictorIII (they where all in one file) but when I tried to play them in the game I always end up starting in Germany?? or the game just crashes.
My current Silent Hunter 4 version is 1.5

From reading previous posts I gather that you suppose to start in Germany ( as Soviets you are suppose to fight the Brits and Americans). Later on all the Soviet naval bases will be moved to the USSR on the map. I also remember reading that only Oscar II is operational so far. Delta and Victor will crash the game. But this is just from previous posts in this forum, I haven't tried this myself.

No, I could also use the other subs.(Depending on the starting date) The mayor problem is that the sea around Germany is unpopulated. (No Ships/Planes etc.)

alright, this is for the newbies: I am still working on my Cold War mod.

I made almost all of the following subs from scratch , some are converted from the Dangerous Waters RA MOD or based on older mods which had already existed: USSR Projects 611 Zulu, 613 Whiskey,627 November,629 Golf,636 Kilo,641 Foxtrot,651 Juliett,658 Hotel ,667A Yankee ,667BDR Delta III,667BDRM Delta IV,670 Charlie I,670M Charlie II,671 Victor,671RTM Victor III,675 Echo II,
705K Alfa,949A Oscar II,971 Akula

USN SS GUPPY ,SSN Nautilus,Seawolf,Permit,Sturgeon, SSRN Triton, SSBN George Washington,Lafayette

Skipjack and Ohio are compatible.

All of them are fully career-playable,have custom extensibles and weapons.

The Oscar II/Victor III/Delta III Mod contains the data of subs made by me and is taken from an early release of my mod.however the author added his own campaign/career data,therefore i do not feel responsible to fix it.

Wow, these look fantastic! Is there one "central" place we can go to get these downloads, or are the links scattered throughout the thread? I'd love to download the George Washington, but I can't find a link/indication as to where to download anywhere...(any one "jahapprich download site? lol)

Also another quick question: I LOVE your Oscar II and Delta III mods, but there are a couple of issues...by the time I steam halfway around the world, something must happen with my game with it set on time lapse, because once I accomplish the Austrailian objective and I'm assigned to a patrol area, there are NO ships to be found ANYWHERE, besides another port. Is there anything I can do to remedy this? (Anyway to start at a port that isn't in Germany?) Also, a small thing about the Delta; it's rather odd because it seems the screws are "inside" the hull...you can see bubbles and things coming out of the hull aft of midships while underway submerged...(surface too, just not as apparent.) is this normal, or is there some fix for this?

id highly recommend making good use of that program in CWSS,
i took a look at the thread, and it can make a TOTALLY new game out of SH4! :rock: can you PM TheDarkWraith about it to get a 32bit version and alter it for SH4 so we can use it?

but this was started almost 8 months ago... and all some of us can play is a Delta IV, Oscar II, Charlie 1&2... 0.o

dont take this the wrong way, but the CWSS and all the subs included i actually made for my own use, a downloadable mod for anyone else to use was not my primary intention and at the moment i have very little time left to work on it. so you will have to wait or you try to create a mod yourself.

to my knowledge, this thread is still named "The Modern Subs Project" and not "JHapprich`s SubMOD SALE"

I did not promise anything. furthermore i do not feel any urge to complete my work just because someone "WANTS" the mod. maybe you´d explain to me, what right you have to demand anything from me? last time i uploaded files, people send ,say 50 messages demanding "change this,do that"...

i am not here to do you a personal favor.

if you are fed up with it , go ahead, do something yourself. I learned how to do things about modding subs mostly on my own, i see no reason, you can`t do it.If there are questions, I`ll be happy to help as long as I have got the time to do so.

@CJ:As much as I agree with your argument,you need to calm down.This man is doing this out of the kindness of his heart and using HIS free time to make this mod.he's not getting PAID to work X amount of hours to make X amount of subs for this mod.Now if we were PAYING him to do this and after 8 months no release,I'd see some problems there.

Since a few of this forums`s members seem to believe, I would owe them to create new subs and features for a cold war mod, which takes a lot of time, they behave like children,who do not get the desired toy at once.

Once and for all:

The CWSS-mod represents my work by 90%. the rest is taken from other mods and has been implementet so it would work alltogether.usually , this happened with the approval of the original authors( at least those,who answered my requests; most of them did not seem to care).
I joined the "The Modern Subs Project" group in order to have others,who shared my interest, to discuss ideas and put our work together.
There is no schedule that names the date, the job would be done, and there is no deadline. I am doing this just for (my) fun.
I do not care ,whether it takes 8 month or a year or whatever.

All the stuff you have gotten from me so far you received because i am such a nice guy to make it available.

As of now, i will no longer answer to any request concerning my files unless I´ve decided to give them away. Anyone wanting a Mod, do it yourself.

great work boys whats your problem every modder do it for fun and not to have preasure. when a mod is ready to release then its ready. we must have patience until its ready!!!

i hope that he keep up the work because it will be a big lose if he quit.

I found the Oscar II to be a wonderful distraction from running around in a Fleet Boat or U-Boat. So hats off to jhapprich for making it available.

My earlier post in this thread that contained "can't wait" was a nudge of support for the work jhapprich has been doing. Frankly, I can wait and if it never sees the light of day for anyone but him, that's fine. It would be a shame though and shame on any one that would ride the guy so hard that he'd decide to flip everyone else the middle finger. He may be coming across as a little harsh, but I don't really blame him. I'd react the same way if I felt that people were taking advantage of my charity.

Any way, thank you jhapprich for providing what you have. Excellent work. :woot:

shots of my new Echo I-Class SSN.I am thinking about also making the cruise-missile equipped original variant 659, which only saw a short time of service. actually, i wanted to have an alternative attack-SSN to the November class with both fore and aft torpedo tubes.I have just finished the basic model and the current textures are crap and just for testing. by the way the juliett still needs some detail-painting and filework with the proper equipment. the bigger problem is the new command room.I`ve modeled it, but adding the textures and working dials etc. is quite a mess. in comparision, the ALFA`s is very simple, only some computer consoles, no valves etc.I`ll keep you posted.

Well I downloaded CWSS and all the subs don't work in campaign. The only one I found that works in campaign is akula but you can't get to bridge. And it crashes after awhile. And in single missions golf 2 doesn't have conning tower only floating missile tubes. When I tried to extract using 7-zip I got some file is broken messages. When I try to put CWSS part 4 in part 1 it will say "t7s isn't in downloads anymore or something like that. Can someone please help BTW I've been on a foxtrot before in Long Beach ,CA.:damn::damn:

LCDR Coleman, I have figured it out! You cannot play a career with the CWSS mod. Go poke around with the war patrol option, switch sides, and check out the fleet review! :D

Luckily I know enough German to decipher what was going on over at the other forum board... now Russian's another story! Ha ha!

EDIT: I just conducted some more tests and have made a wonderful discovery! There is absolutely no compatibility issue with CWSS! Here's what I have loaded by JSGME, in order:

The only instance in which I get a CTD using this setup is when I try to plot a course for a long cruise and speed it up to the point the chronometer appears. I think the game freaks when you ask it to haul that fast with all those mods stacked up on it. Anyway, so long as you don't try to speed it up that far, you should be golden! Cheers!

I wonder if anyone is still involved in developing this project, and if so, could you please post a status update of some variety? This whole project has been going on for more than two years now, and it seems like its mostly dead from what I can tell, which is a shame, and most of the links to downloadable files are also non-functional (or at least I can't figure them out), which is also a shame. Is there any end in sight, or has this pretty much just had the plug pulled and most of the downloadables removed for various reasons?

Hi. i recently took a look on my GUPPY mod and found it quite nasty. as i am converting a Revell 1/72 Gato into USS Sea Cat Fleet Snorkel Conversion Submarine for RC and did some research, i modelled some sails as templates for the one ill built from scratch. i added them to the standard Gato. finally, i decided to make a better Guppy mod as well as the two Fleet Snorkel variants for the game, maybe it`ll become a GUPPY Supermod if there is time.. so here are shots of the Electric Boat and the Portsmouth sail WIP :

PS... Im currently trying to use GUPPYII_ModRC1 but when I go to use theres no crew!? If I add crew in the dock (save and load to get enough guys in there!!) I still cant control the sub? I get a "Cannot compy" when I attempt to set speeds!? Even though usiing the save and load whilst in diock to fill up with a competent crew!? What do I change to get a crew already in place!?

The easiest way to make a cold war or a ww3 sim out of sh4 would be to change the flags from japan to china or russia through in a few modern units, if you have china as the enemy you wouldn't have to change much in the pacific. acourse that thing you hang on the wall that has numbers on it and tells you what day it is might be a problem.

In the last few weeks I searched for Modern Subs for SH4. I found this thread and were really impressed from what i saw here! I downloaded everything i could get and now i have running the following Subs in SH4:

Astute, George Washington, Lafayette, Skipjack, Permit, Ohio, Los Angeles, Triomphant, Project 601, 627, 636, 641, 651, 658M, 661, 667A, 667BDRM, 670 SKAT, 670M, 705, 941, 949A
I want to say thank you to all of the People, mostly JHapprich, who built those Subs! Well done, great work and it is nice that they shared those models with us :rock::up:

At least a Little question: As you can see from the list above i have searched very good for the Subs and were able to find most of them without help. What I would like to know is: Are there the following Subs for SH4 available?:
Project 613 Whiskey, Project 659T (link in JHapprichs Gamefront Folder isnt working), Project 671, 671PTM, 945 Sierra, 971 Akula and 955 Borei

If they are built but not available, its no Problem for me, i'm a mod creator for Trainz 12 and know the 'for personal use only' procedure very well & use it myself too :P

I hope i dont bother anyone with this lol

Its not the problem that you are in Vietnam or elsewhere. The files (or most of them) are currently down and not available because gamefront is working on its website. This may takes a few weeks and then the files should be 'up' again. I was able to download all four CWSS files two days ago, stnk tried it yesterday and it was to late, they were down.
Uploading the files without permission from the original creator would be a violation of copyrights...so better ask JHapprich yourself :P

I work a few weeks ago, a personal megamods on the theme of the Cold War; personal yes because I do not have any authorization elsewhere.
I have enjoyed have Russian submarines of the 1980s more credibility, so the Russians will have Akoula (Typhoon Class) in the worst case (smile)

This weekend, my mission is to make the addition of several nuclear submarines possible in the game - it is a long step is tedious but necessary ^ ^

I want the Red October, Foxtrot and November are presents along with the SSN 688 and Ohio because I only have these submarines there.
Thus it will be possible for me to create scenarios of the American side and the Russian side... and maybe French also ^ ^

We must therefore make each version independently submarines each other
It will be a long ^ ^.

Guys a stupid question perhaps, but is this all in one mod with same skins and playable, or this is a collection of mods that one has to install, done by separate people with separate skins and different degree of quality? In other words, is there a nice stand alone game pack of "official mod" quality, or this is a fan type project that isn't much organized?

I install the cwss Mod in SH4-Data.
The Game works. But when i start a Campain, i can play 2-5 min. and SH is crashed. I have all CWSS Steps inside. CWSS part 1-4 and CWSS fix.

Well in the ohio mod you can launch missiles and they work, they go in a direction and don't change course this is difficult for moving targets but for land based targets it should work.

Only someone has to mod it so that it appears as a contact.

hi guys
im new to Silent Hunter and Submarine Games and Simulators, I like the idea of modern Submarines have been looking everywhere for realistic simulators, I have a good Air Combat sim called Free falcon 6, but im looking for a naval/Submarine version, presently my country (Australia) uses Collins Class Diesel Submarines but we've had a few problems with them:arrgh!:

Welcome aboard Nightstalker! Check out Dangerous Waters for a more modern accurate subsim. The modern boats here, while fun, are limited by the game engine. Or better yet enjoy both games! Nothing beats ruining Tojos day by sinking those transports with your shiny new Akula or 688i!

well, the schtschuka-b is actually just an unfinished model yet, so theres not much to learn from right now BUT when it comes to "how do i do my own mod" i recommend u use skwasjers 3deditor and an "easy" mod like tomagabriels skipjack and dismantle the filework. backward engineering was what i did in the first place when i started creating mods.ill keep u postet however. best regards jh

frankly, i do not believe you actually know what you are talking about. believe me, 3d modelling IS the easier thing to do. but if you are interested: there are many workshops for milkshape, blender or google sketchup u could give a try.i personally work with milkshape.

That is a complete new book to me (except for changing some values or finding Equipment and such), for now the *.upc and *.cfg are the easy part.
Anyway, I admire your work having seen the Alfa; this results in the wish for the Akula and to start learning 3D-modelling.

Btw: I fixed the sonar on the US-Alfa and it is a real killer-Sub.
Any News about the interior you were working on?

First the big package, now one of my games works again and I found the zip-file of more than a dozen ships on my old hd again(forgot where I put them)......if things Keep going that way, I will find the plug-in to convert them to a more common Format.

This torpedo is WAY UNDERPOWERED!!!!! 5 adcaps to sink one Nippon maru..:o.Modders at $3,500,000.00 dollars each I expect a lot better performance than that.:nope:..If you have no idea what a MK 48 ADCAP is capable of just check out you tube videos...:yeah:

Personally I can only speak for the MK 48 that Comes with the Alfa and this is one-hit-one-kill.

Do you have S3D and know your way around?

Open SH4/Data/Library/ the file Torpedoes_US.sim and amun_acoustictorpedo. Set detonating - Impulse to 10000.

Same goes for german torps if you want.

yes, i felt that the mk48 was too "soft" too, and i changed the impact power. so the mk48 from the alfa or the echoI should work fine.
did some major work on the Sierra I-Sail. having it mostly done, the hull details and the pressure hull will be next. so i hope to have the job done and give you a campaign-rady download in the next 2 weeks.

A MK 48 should kill anything short of a BB with a single keel shot. Another issue though may be where the weapon tracks to. Originally it was set to track on the prop noise, I know I changed that at a later time but not sure when. Newer ones should track on engine noise about middle of the ship.

That's a good question. :haha: I went looking to see if I could figure out how but haven't yet. I though it had something to do with the DSD file for the torpedoes but I haven't found any changes from stock...:hmmm: I'll keep searching and get back to you on this.

What is the Speed of the mk48?

I find various Settings between 45 and 150(???)kts, all in different mods.

Set it to a more reasonable 50 kts, at higher Speed it starts to be "deaf" and at 150 you will not even hit a BB.

Originally it was 45kts as set by tomagabriel, the guy who first modded the MK 48 into the game. When I acquired it I set it to 55kts for the mods I released with it.

Anything faster and your solution is off, like with the TASM. What other mods have you found it in?

the 150 knots is the shkwal from the us-side campaign alfa class. the mk 48 in my mods (688 and alfa) is the one from tomagabriel but with enhanced explosive strength.

ps other topic: i have found a way to make more realistic cruise missiles for the older surface launch ssg`s and ssgn`s of the soviet era: i added my ai-torpedo mod to a launcher-like gun. that way by firing a dummy-shell (invisible you will actually launch the particle generator that generates the desired missile( torpedo ).that way you can keep a working stern torbedo compartments with reloads and disconnect the missiles from the torpedo system and you can only fire cruise missiles on the surface like it was in reality. ill add that to the juliett and the echo II; furthermore, i will refit the EchoII and add an echoI SSGN. for us side, regulus ssg and ssgn would be nice too.

After Setting Speed to 50 it is slower and now hits something (Kongo one hit - one kill) and the shkval is set at 200.

Or are Settings different for which side you Play (Shkval-related)?

Will these new subs eventually work in tmo 2.5??? :hmmm: The ohio class works in tmo 2.5,but in order to promote/replace sailors/award medals you have to go all the way back to Bangor,Wash...We need more ports to resupply in..Also conning tower access when submerged..And up grade the mk48 for more bang for your bucks..:yeah:

On the Ohio class ssbn I have no access to the conning tower when submerged.:hmmm:.I have access with the 688i but then I am playing vanilla sh4..After playing sh4 with tmo 2.5 I have become used to and appreciate the environmental effects.:D.

The Ohio sounds like it's working correctly then. There is no conning tower to go into when submerged, just the hatch that leads to the bridge. Should be the same for 688i as well. I used the S Class Control Room for both as it was a better representation overall with there being no Conning tower for that as well.

i am using the ohio ssbn beta 0.2 and i have seen multiple messages about the missiles in this mod but i cannot seem to find them on the actual sub, i also noticed that the missile launch tubes on the sub look like they open somehow but i didn't see any way to do so

thats because they don`t open. the ohio launches only tomahawk cruise missiles via the torpedotubes afaik.best regards

this is a "museum mission" i made with the mission editor and the subs are not controlable, they are temporarily "AI`d" and run on preprocessed waypoints. no offends, but this is 95 percent my work alone :D
