I'd like some of our German Kaleuns to give a little help for the German version of the Mid-Patrol Radio Orders mod.

urfisch has already helped me with a large number of translations which has allowed me to write the patrol orders, but I'm struggling to find many German quotes in German that I can use to add to the ticker tape at the bottom of the main menu screen?

The request? Can you give me German language quotes that are less than 66 characters long so I can add them to the mod along with a rough English translation and originator? Quotes relevant to SH3 would be preferred.

Thank you,

WB

Melde mich zum Dienst!

I haven´t installed your Mod , but I´ll be glad to help.
What exactly do you mean with "German quotes"?

Are you serious? Because the correct translations are

"Seien Sie aggressiver!" and "Versenken Sie sie alle!"

:88)

Well, a German here, willing to translate stuff if posted here, but no own ideas, sry.

And that's why I'm asking for German speakers to help me - internet translation just doesn't cut the mustard, especially for colloquialisms. Sorry jim, yer sacked!:rotfl2:

I'm looking for original German quotes which I can only find on English language sites without the original German. I'd like someone to use Google or similar in German websites to get quotes from famous Germans or German speakers such as Bismarck, Hitler, Clausewitz, Einstein, Gniesenau, Guderian, von Kluge, Rommel, Manstein, von Richthofen, Schlieffen, Scharnhorst, Raeder, Goebbels, Goering, Louis IV, Ludwigs, Wilhelms...

So many quotes and with my lack of German I can't access them:wah:.

Guten Abend WB,

I found a few quotes which might be of interest.
Here we go:

"Jeder Krieg, auch der siegreiche, ist immer ein großes Unglück für das Land, das ihn führt." (Otto von Bismarck)
Every war, including those you win, is a great misfortune for the country leading it

"Der Krieg ist die Fortsetzung der Politik mit anderen Mitteln." (Carl von Clausewitz)
War is the continuation of politics by other means

"Die Verteidigung ist leichter als der Angriff; denn alle Zeit, welche ungenutzt verstreicht, fällt in die Waagschale des Verteidigers." (Carl von Clausewitz)

The defence is easier then the attack for all time which elapses unused falls into the account of the defender

"Der Krieg hat die Tendenz zum Äußersten zu schreiten." (Carl von Clausewitz)
The war has the tendency to advance to extremes

"Diplomatie ohne Waffen ist wie Musik ohne Instrumente." (Friedrich der Grosse)
Diplomacy without arms is like music without instruments

"Loyalität ist das Mark der Ehre." (Paul von Hindenburg
Loyalty is the mark of honour

"Wir können nicht warten, bis das letzte Fass Benzin und die letzte Granate ausgeladen sind. Bis dahin wird der Russe zu stark. (Heinz Guderian)
We cannot wait until the last barrel of gasoline and the last container of ammunition has benn unloaded. In the meantime, the Russians are too strong

"Es geht mir nicht um mich, sondern um viel mehr, um unser Deutschland, und da ist mir bange!" (Heinz Guderian)
My concern is not about me, but much more to our Germany, and of that I´m afraid!

"Kein Plan überlebt die erste Feindberührung!" (Helmut von Moltke)
No plan survives the first contact with the enemy!

"Klagt nicht, Kämpft!" (was written on my squadrons building while I was in the German army)
Do not complain, Fight!

I hope they are useful. I´ve got a few more, will post them tomorrow.

Gute Nacht,

Kurfürst

Kurfürst ,

Those are perfect. I need to keep to less than 66 characters so can't use the two longest ones but the rest are spot on.

Interesting to find out that one of the British Army's favourite quotes has a German origin (No plan survives contact with the enemy).

Hi WB,

here are some more:

"Vergießt Schweiß - aber kein Blut." (Erwin Rommel)
Shed sweat- but no blood

"Mut ist, dass man die Angst überwindet." (Erwin Rommel)
Courage is overcoming the fear

"Ein Krieg ist nur verloren, wenn man ihn verloren gibt!" (Erich Manstein)
A war is only lost when you accept you´ve lost it

"Ich bin fest entschlossen, die Ehre der deutschen Armee zu verteidigen!" (Erich Manstein)
I´m determined to defend the honour of the German army

Beste Grüße,

Kurfürst

More good ones - I've got enough to make the mod but if anyone has more I'll be happy to include them. The more quotes, the more options.

Two more questions and I can get this mod uploaded:

What is the correct German for:
Reihenfolgen für Patrouille - Typ II

and:
Mittler-Patrouille Radio Ordnet An

Moin,
what do you want to say with phrase one and two? Please tell me something about the context.
Best regards

i could not find any english word for "Reihenfolge" in your Translation.
Best regards.
