Hi everyone!
While waiting for a "small unit job", i'm looking also for my next ship model.
After Titanic experience, i can say this: imported non-sh3 models can work really well in SH3!

Now, i've a request for everyone:
Do you have a good 3d model of

1) A british ww2 aircraft carrier (hms courageous, hms furious, hms indefatigable...ecc..)

2) A ww2 era liner not yet realized (ss America, ss Conte di Savoia...ecc..)

that can i use for conversion?
Files' format should be compatible with Maya 7.0 (.obj, for example, or scene files)

Thanks everyone,
VD

I found these in a quick search:

I'm still searching.

Sergbuto still has HMS Furious unreleased for many years now. May be you could join efforts and finish her together?
Another Idea is in making USS Yorktown and Essex based on Italian Aquilla. It is possible to rework model of HMS Ark-Royal into HMS Illustrius as well.
But the most interesting idea could be in making HMS Eagle by merging HMS Warspite haul and a flightdeck. Theres is waste lack of British early war carriers.

Or if you were intersted in some quick modding of smaller vessel you could finish my idea of USS Auk?

Or maybe you can take over Uboats Richelieu - that one has been without updates forever and seems to be almost finished.

An HMS Furious would be an excellent addition http://www.psionguild.org/forums/images/smilies/wolfsmilies/thumbsup.gif

Look here! There is a collection of 3d models for CFS2. It seems that flight simulator mods are the greates source for additional units for SH as I used to refer to Kriegsmarine models from other source to Sergbuto :)

Interesting model collections!
A request: those models are saved in .MDL (standard MSFS) format.
How to import them in Maya7?

You might try using UMC2. http://www.gulfknight.net/forum/dload.php?action=file&file_id=551. It's a brilliant app which will convert some (not all) Flight Simulator ships. Here's a pic of the SS France (FS2004) as seen in UMC2. :)

I find instruction for import from MDL to 3DMAX (in russian). May be you it help:

Von Dos,

The ww2 liner S.S. America can be made from a modified version of your own S.S. Rex liner. If you compare your S.S. Rex to photos of the S.S. America both look very similar. You would only need to do some minor modifications of your S.S. Rex to make the America.

Mmm :hmm: :hmm:
They're similar in something, but really different in some others things.
Rex is really long, America is large; bow & stern are totally different, funnels are 2, ok, but America had "strange" funnels.
Crane are similars, but decks are different...
:hmm: :hmm: :hmm:

Cut a little here...tuck a little there...modifications like the gorgeous model of the Laconia you have created. The basic design is there, but your right, the Rex will require some major modification.
