Hi people I'd like ask you this question : Can I have the correct list of actions to do for see the same sea effect's that i see in the pictures of this thread?.....in this moment I have only

SH3 + patch 1.4b emea

Now i want install Thomsen's Water V3.4 it's possible or I must have some other thing like others mod ?

Ok, correct list of actions..

Get and install(that means, find the thread, read the thread, follow readmes step by step):

GWX 2.1(1.2 gb)
OLC UBERMOD 243(24 mb)
THOMSEN'S WATER 3.4(1mb? forgot)

That's about it :D

Desga, my mod was designed to work on top of OLCE2, which is an environment mod (and a great one by the way).

But you can try to enable it on stock sh3... I don't see any reason for it to not work.

(but I do recommend OLCE2, it's a AWESOME environment mod)

Since you are a fan..
There are some things that make me wonder in that movie(s)..

First, everytime neo finds or sees smith, he says smith while having a disgusted look on the face.. Never said, fu.k you, or scr.w you, or who let the dogs out, or some other crack about it.. Like, you maybe are duplicating, but it looks like you are getting uglier every time..

Second, why do the machines let humans go, if they need power from their bodies?

Ohh thank to all ..my problem is that: in these days i 'm working for a big match on line so i must test much mods and than I will tell the correct installation to every player I'd like improve the graphic.... but I do recommend OLCE2 that's no problem I can install it but i don't want use GWX2.1 because the time of loading on line becomes so long ...so do you think Thomsen's Water V3.4 can works without GWX 2.1 ??

You play online single missions, right? Not campaign.

So, here's what I would do.

1. Install for everyone GWX 2.1
2. Install for everyone OLCE2
3. Install for everyone Water Mod 3.4
4. Install for everyone the Empty Campaign Mod.

So, you can play single missions and the game takes about 20 seconds to load up, due to the Empty Campaign Mod.

I try to teel you what i do in every match :

I start to look for all mods that can be available and can be use with only SH3 clean and patch1.4 than I check that all mods togheter are compatible Now I make with all mods a big installer so every player has the same files and can play without crash.The match has 36 mission and in every mission can play only 4 players we are now 40 players.but in the final miission will be only 4 players and only one winner I'd like no use GWX 2.1 because the Mb become so much. I play GWX 2.1 only off line

If you want it, I can upload it

If I make the water sharper, there will be problems with heavy seas (the waves merge into eachother and weird points are created).

About making it darker, sure! :up:

I continue to marvel at the beauty of Mr T's Water,...it is so realistic. I am warmed in my heart by this, as I love the sea as she really is, a harsh mistress and one never to turn your back on, but beautiful in many shapes and faces.

Herr Mengle, is that the Bismark Mod? or the in game scenario? it looks great, i see the Rodney, quite an unusual config on that BB for sure.

This is the closest we can get from SH4 water.

It`s another kind of engine for the water on SH4, pixel shader, the whole shebang. Things that we don`t have on SH3 engine. So it`s impossible to make the sea have the same visual and effects as in sh4.

Let us hope for SH5 next year! :up:

Ohh Thank to all now I'm playng with THIS FANTASTIC MOD it' s so perfect but i must want say a thing ...I'm preparing a mission for 8 players to play in REALISTIC on line ....it's night and we must engage a big convoy ...i have seen that with periscope is very difficult try lock the boat so : Is there a way to increase a little bit more the brightness so the boat become a little bit more visible???;)

Do you really think you can see ANYTHING at midnight in the middle of the atlantic?

I already did something to help seeing the ships at night, with the bright ring around the horizon.

If you want even more, tweak your settings in your monitor/videocard for more brightness or more gama.

Yeah Philipp you have reason!! I know in atlantic sea there is not light in the night ... my grandfather told me much time !
I asked you because in few minutes arrived 3 DD on my head an with the depht charges:dead: .....:down: but no problem next time I will open more my eyes;)

S3D is a great program to edit most of the files, and tweak them to your own taste, or merge your favorite mods.. Link: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=119571 It works both for SH3 and 4.

3rd, I noticed this:

4th, strange black shadows at the front of the boat in this weather, moved around really quickly, but stayed out in front in a long black reflection

and lastly, about the shimmering, I don't know if you can really see it in this screenshot, but I did investigate and it seems that it only is only really noticeable in the free camera, not so much on the fixed and again I think more so in exceptionally good weather:

i am asking this becuase the waves at heavy seas...well it's not really a candy eye

the problem is that i had many problems with sh3cmd ( a lot of ctd) and i removed it (no sh3cmd...no ctd)

so,if your answer is that i have to install it first,then please tell me what i have to edit manually at your mod in order not to use sh3cmd

Ok, these are waves at 3m per sec wind speed, using the deck gun is very difficult because of the rolling Uboat:

mister thomsen you should really look at the WAC 3.0 scene Dat file and see what you could use for your mod , the waves are great in WAC 3.0

Mate, my mod is not even near normal in your system. Something is wrong. 3m/s winds should reveal a very very calm water, and not that wavy one.

Can you tell me your mod configuration?

of course i am talking for the v3.4 , the 'non realistic' part ,imo,is the edges at the top of the waves and the fact that they are narrow .
i didn't tweak anything at your mod and i am wondering if others have the same waves ...

hi, just couple of install questions, I have H.Sie moon reflection fix(Moonreflexions for OLCE2 v 2.4.3), will I need to disable it before installing this? Also I have enabled the following, will any of them cause problems?

1. You don't need the moon reflection fix, my mod already enables the moon reflection on the water.

2. None of those mods (except OLCE2) have any files that could interfere with my mod. My mod was designed to be enabled on top of OLCE2, so you're good to go.

I put your mod over this lot. OLCE2 was installed after disabling the relevant GWX mods as instructed in the readme. Your mod last at the bottom of the list

Sorry, maybe I should have said clearer, I just copied the list from an earlier post, your mod went on last to the ones on the list with the top of the list being the one enabled 1st

Try this:

Open scene.dat with S3D.
In EnvData node, change the ChoppyWave factor from 0,05 to 0,04.

they are the main orders from wac 3 and the other i think (can't remember right now) from nygm (i will post if remember it)

hey thomsen luv the new water.

just a couple of small things though. i seem to be having the issues as the people above such as overly choppy waves and a u-boat that is pitching and rolling way too much:damn: is there any way to edit your mod so that 1) the u-boat glides through waves easier without all that rolling, and 2) the waves are a bit calmer. when im in base about to set off, the water is already pushing around my boat as if it were in the middle of the indian ocean:hmm:

Then it's something wrong with your mod configuration.
The water is never too rough with my mod. The uboat glides easily and don't pitch/roll.
Are you using SH3 Commander?

no i'm not using sh3 commander. but i have lost track of my mod installments:o from memory im runnning GWX 2.0 with LifeBoats_Debris_v3B, Water_Stream_for_Uboats_V4, transparent dials and your water mod.

Very very weird... :hmm:

From what I have, tested and released, the waves are much smaller than in GWX and the uboat rolls much less.

Anybody else having this sort of problem?

I also have too choppy waves and too much boat role. I started out witha fresh install too but i'm using NYGM with OLC2 and not GWX so it could be a conflict problem. I'm going to uninstall the water mod anyway as I think I actually prefer OLCs at the end of the day.....though I can appreciate the aim of Thomsen's mod.

this version is just the three files you have modded running in GXW2.1 so as you say that’s not my mod because it is not on top of OLCE2 ok fair deal

These versions also do not have OLCE2 running as well and also not GWX2.1
The suns halo was there but I added the sun fix to make it burn out you eyes when you looked at it

And also I did have the rolling around of the sub but it settle down on the second mission to only rolling around when turning

So with this version mod running your files is all that’s needed
Which is what I wished you had done in the first place a stand alone mod that anyone can use and not have to also install any OLC files
just fix the sun for the small amount of users that are having a problem then “Wam bam thankyou mam” one great mod

Funny what happens with this mod for some people.

But interesting Phoenix about the uboat stop rolling around in the second mission.

Is this people have trouble by any chance enabled the mod in middle patrol?

Yes sometimes in dock my boat rolls around like that and also for the whole patrol as well. But I don’t think it is anything to do will your mod as it happens when your mod isn’t enabled ….it happens when you make a change to the u-boat I.E. new conning tower flak guns or add a new mod to the game

I can confirm that my u-boat also rolls excessively with your water mod especially when turning. I haven't started a career yet after recently installing GWX 2.1 because I'm still trying to sort my final modlist.

Water does look very good but I'm also of the opinion it needs darkening. It's a bit too light IMO.

Basically all that was asked on that pool is now live!

I strongly suggest that those people suffering from the uboat pitch and rolling excessively, to download the new version of the "chips" mod, which contain a fix for the uboats to behave sturdly as the ships. The new version is called V3 and will be avaliable some hours from now!

hello PT,

every version getting better and better BUT i have a comment for the sun reflection,think must be more more wide and less brighter than current and also (i know is discussed before) something must be done with the under water problem (i can't find the right words to explain ,i mean the problem with the 'cutten' sea) .don't know if i am right but if underwater visibility is reduced maybe this will 'hide' the problem ,now that makes the game to seem cheap .
as for the water i liked it very much,everytime getting better

I have made a version of the water mod using Philippe Thomsen and OLC files I have put together this version for people that have the flat sun issue. It also has OLC latest scene file so the sun rise and sun sets are really cool the TW file I have used are the 3.4 files I think it all goes together well this is a screen shot.
Try it see what you think I use it as a stand alone (just GWX2.1) you can also use it with OLCE2 if you want.

The white horizon at night is caused by a tga file, inside the ENV folder, a file named *something_atl.dat*... inside of it, there's a tga file, controlling the water reflection. If I'm not mistaken, the file name is "specular.tga". Export it with S3D, use paint.net to open it. On the first square of colour, it's blank. If you fill with black, the white horizon will desappear, along with the stars and moon. If you use a semi-transparent colour, the white line will desappear, but the moon will "semi" desappear, and the stars will also "semi" desappear. What you can do is to draw a black circle passing on the edges of the square, so you can fill the white horizon with black.

I'm not home now, so I'm not sure of the names.

I don't know if there's another way out to fix it, but I guess there is.

Ask guys like OneLifeCrisis or Privateer, they know how to fix it better.

30mins later the three are entering a darkened dwelling he must be sleeping boys, the smell of whisky hangs in the air two bottles lay empty on the floor, look the skipper points to the bottles the payment for information passed Quick to the computer.
Search for Task force and Phoenix boys we must hide the secret after a short time the words found them skipper what now erase it boys hide it away from the unknowing eyes.
That’s it boys mission completed lets get out of here what about him skipper the skipper replies don’t worry boys he didn’t see anything. A slap of three flippers can be heard and the closing of a door wakes the sleeping figure he turns on the light and sees what appears to be strange wet foot prints around his computer he checks the Thread displayed there. He stands up and says “what the someone has erased the screen shots”.
Back on the shore line as the man arrives three small figures can be seen paddling their small raft back out to sea the man waves his fist at them and yells dam you to hell penguins now no one will know where those Croaking fish are and how Beautiful the water looks there ..

The mod does nothing on the sensors, it's purelly visual.
It works with gwx 3.0, as it changes anything on the visual aspect.
If you stop to think, it's compatible with any supermod that uses 320 as wave height, such as gwx.

Hi Thomsen your Mod is excellent but has a little bug that i have observed during dive
As you see in my image there's a poligon with your modded sea and the remaing part with the normal GWX sea.....
How can i FIX?
The Mod version is V4 and in the corner you see my Configuration of Mod
All of this on GWX 3.0

Hi Dolfo,

This is caused by the smaller waves. The game render the surface with more waves, but the underwater remains unrendered.

The only way to fix this is to reduce the underwater visibility.
OLC can help you with that.

I don't mind about that cos I stick to the realistic cameras.

I've just installed it, and it's STUNNING! :o

I am trully amazed and speachless, the waves and the reflections looks great! it's superior to the stock gwx look!

FYI, i'm using GWX3 + water streams, lifeboats and some other minor visual mods, and it's 100% compatabile.

I'm getting about 20 FPS on 2GHz CPU, 1.5GB RAM (old ddr1) and radeon 9550 128MB, which is similar to stock GWX3 FPS rate :up:
