Ive been playing Silent Hunter 3 for a while now and thought it`d be nice to add some of my own models to the game, ive modelled a nicely detailed Japanese mini-sub specially to add to SH3 but im now a bit stuck, does anyone have step by step guide of how i go about adding stuff to sh3 or perhaps something like SH3 modding for dummies??

Im not aiming to make the unit playable, i`ll settle for getting it up n running in game at least untill ive a bit more experience.

I don't know if you're familiar with SH3ditor, but take a look at this.

Hope this helps.

This link is also a SH3ditor tutorial on cloning playable subs.

From my limited understanding you could clone a sub, rename/remap it, and then replace the model with your own.

Note: this is on the SH4 forum, but should work with SH3.

If it's nicely detailed?
You may run into a poly count problem in Game.
A higher end system would probably be ok.
But lower, border line systems may CTD.

Thanks for the info, i think i should have it up and running in-game in a few days.

Heres some shots (renders), its 43000 polys approx so it should be ok.

if this small sub should be a playable unit, a remake of the interieurs will be fine...
