The Lolwaffles three mission extravaganza!

http://members.arstechnica.com/x/hoos/luftwaffles.jpg

Our mission, to fly an air superiority mission over a Russian airfield. The Lolwaffles took off and amply demostrated our superiority against four or five Peshkas from hell and some I-16s. Firstly, an AI 109 decided to ram a Peshka head on, not only destroying the lead Peshka but also his two wingmen, less than fifty feet from Oberon who nearly stalled his 109 in surprise.
Then Hunter met his old friend the I-16 and got his engine riddled. Fin finished off the other Peshka and suddenly the sky was empty again.
Then Schroeder spots an airfield below us. He decides to test the super-dive-speed of the 109 and dives to the airfield, setting perhaps a new world record for the 109, before setting a new world record for fastest aerial object to met a tree head on.
With Schroe a smouldering tree wreck, although an efficient one at that, as he rightly pointed out, his aircraft is buried in the ground thus acting as his burial site. German efficiency at its finest! Fin and Oberon spent the next fifteen minutes strafing the airfield, Fin taking out three Peshkas whilst Oberon disrupted the Soviet oil supply.

http://img115.imageshack.us/img115/3099/finstrafingei9.jpg

Hunter, by now, was over friendly lines and slowly making his way back to base.

Hunter: Goring will be happy!
Schroe: Oh yeah? Why's that?
Hunter: I think I'm going to get this back in one piece.

Five minutes later

Hunter: Hmmm, make that one million pieces. I'm going to give Goring a jigsaw puzzle.
Schroe: He'll make you do it

With Kratos landing back at base, and Fin and Oberon out of ammo, the Lolwaffles returned to base and landed safely.

The next morning...

Goring: Hey, Hunter, I haz a present for youuu
Hunter: Is it a Tempest?
Goring: NEIN!

http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/4428/airfixbf109f48la5.jpg

After Hunter had completed his new 109 for use in further missions, he joined a Ju88 on a bombing mission to a convoy outside Murmansk. Sensing an opportunity for some points, Oberon joined him. Schroeder, Fin and Kratos took Fw190s to escort them. The 88s had an airstart however, and were therefore miles ahead of the escorts, Schroeder took a bomb but dropped it after crossing the frontlines when his 190 decided that it was going to take on the functuality of a housebrick.
While Fin and Schroe disagreed over waypoints and whether to be good pilots and follow them or naughty pilots and actually catch up to the bombers they're meant to escort, Hunter and Oberon continued merrily on their way.

http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/1621/oberonandhuntersh3.jpg

Diving through the cloud layer on approach to the target, Oberon became seperated from Hunter when he was unable to engage his dive brakes due to not having a key mapped for them (D'oh!!) and so, he just turned around and continued on course. However, at sea level there was a vicious sea fog which obscured the target, most of the Ju88s gave up and returned home, Oberon hunted around trying to see something, anything in the mist. Then he spotted it, a dark grey/blue mass in front of him...oh...wait...

Sixty years later...
http://media.airspacemag.com/images/AS_restoration_Mar2001.jpg

So, with Oberon at the bottom of the Murmansk channel, the Lolwaffles returned home empty handed. Schroeder, with his 'traitorous red colour scheme' performed the traditional Lolwaffle landing with style.

http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/3456/24102008230658cf2.jpg

Next day our missions were varied, but once again Hunters spy ring came up with intel that the enemy would be congregating in AT19, so off we all went in our 109s. Hunter and Schroe talked about how they came to be where they are, Schroe being drafted to the Eastern front against his will and Hunter being a loyal party member, who as squadron leader, could pin any mistakes on Schroeder.
AT19 was reached and the Lolwaffles circled for a time, taking time to debate the various merits of political systems. Then the Soviets interfered in the discussion.

Fin: Bogies!
Hunter: But the trouble is...
Fin: Political stuff stop, we've got bogies!

I-16s and Peshkas from hell again, but to our horror, the bridge below us was destroyed by Peshkas, it may not have been the Ura Guba bridge, but it was still a shocking example of Stalins inhumanity towards bridges.

http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/9684/24102008233343mk4.jpg

http://mozilla.tlk.fr/gfx/splash/stalin.gif

Translation: ALL YOUR BRIDGE ARE BELONG TO US

Spurred on by the loss of our beloved bridge, Fin stormed in at a Peshka from hell and blasted it apart, diving underneath it...and being hit by the wing he had just shot off the Peshka.
Hunter took on another Peshka from hell and bagged it, but not before receiving the customary engine destruction, a trademark of the Peshkas from Hell. Schroeder got an I-16 on his tail and was subject to the wonderful display of ignorance of the laws of physics by the Soviet AI (Artificial Insanity) Oberon came to the rescue, and then stalled and nearly crashed. Thankfully Schroeder managed to get himself out of the sticky situation, leaving Oberon and an AI 109 to chase after the I-16. Oberon managed to twist and turn and get in front of the AI 109 for a prime position to shoot the I-16. Closer and closer he got, and then he opened fire! The pilot jumped out, but Oberon kept firing, this kill must be his!
I-16s explode well, this is a new lesson to Oberon, fortunately he was far enough away that the only damage he suffered was a broken engine, and since the battle was taking place over friendly territory, he joined Hunter in bailing out of his stricken 109.

http://img509.imageshack.us/img509/9941/24102008234011dm2.jpg

Meanwhile, one of the Peshkas from hell that Hunter had tangled with earlier, demostrated just why it was called a Peshka from hell. Only something created by Satan could be so indestructable...

http://img261.imageshack.us/img261/2281/24102008234029is5.jpg

With only Schroeder left in an aircraft, he returned to base, coming in on finals with two 109 fleas hot on his tail. Everyone watching grimaced, expecting the worst...

http://img261.imageshack.us/img261/2305/24102008234530wp0.jpg

But it would seem that the AI are learning, slowly but surely, as they suddenly pealed away and began orbiting around the base. Schroeder landed successfully this time and taxied in to meet Goring as Hunter and Oberon arrived back via the Catstapo.

Goring: Only vun 109 left?! Who iz responsible for zis mess?!
Hunter & Schroeder: HE DID IT!
Goring: Schroedeeeeer! Hunter iz a loyal party member he iz not responsible! It is your fault, you must clean out hangar viv toothbrush!!
Schroeder: You mean you know what they are?
Goring: NEIN!

AAR  Good work as usual Oberon. I've gotta start recording the missions so that I can provide at least a few screenshots. I btw dewinged three Peskhas, and that third one proved to be fatal  Gotta dive more steeply next time so that I can stay clear of the falling debris

We use 4.08, and although the server(Hunter) doesn't use mods many of us
do and they are permitted.

10-27-08, 07:57 PM
Achtung Achtung!

The Lolwaffles take to the sky again, well, mostly the ground, but that's another story.

Todays first mission had them up over the Petsamo bridge! Together, armed with their trusty 109s, they had to intercept the might of the Soviet P40. With newcomer Taskforce in their midst, Kratos, Oberon and Hunter set off on their patrol waypoints. It wasn't long before the Russians showed. Hunter and Oberon peeled off to engage the first wave, Oberon got behind one and opened fire, however one in turn got behind him and opened fire. His ailerions must have been shot up because after his split-S, he was unable to maintain altitude, and ploughed into a field at speed.
With Oberon down, Hunter set to work chasing after a VTOL P-40 whose pilot seemed to be a ex-stunt pilot who threw his P-40 around the air in ways that defied all known laws of aerodynamics, gravity and common sense. However, despite this witchcraft, he was soon taken down:

http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/9086/27102008220501my1.jpg

Taskforce meanwhile had taken down one P-40 and had his sights on another, as did another 109 piloted by the AI, Taskforce took a no-nonsense approach to the problem and shot the P-40 through the 109, thus shooting both down.

http://img394.imageshack.us/img394/4339/27102008220722qa7.jpg

On the return to base, Hunter regailed the pilots with German nursery songs, thus prompting Kratos to ask if Hunter could whistle....

http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/7132/27102008220951dt1.jpg

Hunter: You cheeky git...

Upon returning to the airfield, Hunter put down first, so Taskforce took an overflight of the runway, buzzing the tower....

http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/3360/27102008221440rx0.jpg

Schultz: Das ist gut, I has mein favourite hat from die kubelwagon...vait...vot vas zat noise?

http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/535/rubbleoi2.jpg

http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/641/lwfiniforum1mv1.jpg

Schultz has now refused to broadcast from within the control tower, preferring instead to do his ATC from the Fuhrer bunker...this has lead to some unfortunate side effects to the German war machine...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kc9MFdxKmm4 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kc9MFdxKmm4)

After Taskforce destroyed the control tower, Kratos landed, barely as the Lolwaffles were Lolling so hard they nearly passed out, and we moved to the second mission. (Taskforce managed to achieve a score of -290 for this mission  )

A bombing run on a Russkie airbase! Oberon groaned inwardly as he climbed into his airstart Ju88, destined for destruction, or so he thought.
Taking a circular route down through the clouds before the target area, Oberon followed Hunter in and dropped his bombs in the vague direction of a I-16 which Hunter had missed in his initial pass. He completely missed it, but the damage must have knocked it out somehow as it was destroyed by Taskforce's pass. Which didn't go particularly well, a stall and a crash into the runway followed, closely followed by Kratos...Guess which two pilots forgot to turn their airbrakes off after diving from 4000m? ;)

http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/2238/27102008223345hy8.jpg

With Kratos and Taskforce down, Oberon and Hunter returned to base without much further incidence, Hunter landing and losing his tail wheel on landing, so as Hunter was unable to move off the runway, Oberon took the taxiway.

Task Force
10-27-08, 08:49 PM
You report everything dont you.:smug:
AAAAAh.... The control tower was a accident, Turns out that even getting feet from the tower makes you crash. I wont do that next flight. lol

That was a hilarious incident last night. I was approaching the airbase, heard Hunter saying he was on final approach, then i saw on the chat bar, Task force asking if anyone was landing?, so as i was making my approach, i'm looking around to see who was landing where, as landing on the taxi strip is the in thing at the moment ;) ....Then W.T.F. was that :rotfl:..I thought Raptor had sneaked in the back door when i saw the tower trying to launch itself into orbit
The second sortie, as i was over the enemy airfield and dropped a couple of eggs, shouting at myself whilst pulling on the joystick furiously ''CLIMB YOU B**T**D'' unaware that i left the airbrakes on  (note to myself, pay more attention.)

Bit of an update on last nights 'missions'. No screenshots because they're on the other computer :damn:

The Lolwaffles set forth with Hunter, Task Force, Kratos and Oberon in their midst to capture Stalingrad. The fact that the frontline is miles from Stalingrad and we have 109F-2s vs IL2s, P39Ds and the cream of the Soviet airforce, did not do much for morale.
Neither did the Soviet secret weapon.

http://i.neoseeker.com/ca/command_conquer_red_alert_2_conceptart_8p02E_thumb .jpg
Пушка запаздывания

This new secret weapon hit Oberon and Kratos shortly after they took off, turning their world into a 5fps nightmare, neither of which had experienced such slideshow behaviour. The squadron immediately returned to base and grounded while Squadron leader Hunter attempted to find the cause. After cursing his Soviet spy of a brother who had left wi-fi and the webcam on and disabling both, the lolwaffles tried again, and again the LaG gun shot Kratos and Oberon.
Could it be that the Lolwaffles had met their match in Soviet weaponry?
To find out, the Lolwaffles were transfered to a free-for-all dogfight area where any aircraft went. Itching to get revenge on Taskforce for comments made earlier, Hunter went for the superpower option in some random small Soviet biplane, while the rest of the group went for Spitfires.
Taskforce did not know what hit him, after a twist and a turn at low level, he lost both wings and went down in flames. Oberon, who was watching it all from a thousand feet up, attempted to locate and dive on Hunter, but Hunter made it to a nearby base before Oberon could spot him. He attempted a strafing run but failed.
Then Hunter went for the Tempest, "Uh oh" thought Oberon and he figured that his only chance would be to get Hunter before he could climb high enough to be a proper threat. He full-throttled to the nearby airbase (as map tags were on) and found Hunter climbing after take-off, giving Hunter enough time to get to about five-hundred feet, Oberon opened fire, and in his first pass took the engine, and in his second made Hunter bail out.

Hunter: "I'm going to get you for that!"

Hunter then respawned further away to give himself a chance to climb, and Oberon curved north to where he saw Taskforce heading for Kratos. He dived on Taskforce but screwed it up when he dived at the wrong angle and wound up in front of Taskforce rather than behind. Not the place he wanted to be really, and a swift dodging session followed, with Taskforce doggedly in pursuit, when Hunter showed up and with one swift move, deprived Oberon of a wing, surprising him so much that instead of hitting CTRL to teamspeak, he accidentally Alt-Tabbed himself out of IL2
As Oberon fixed himself back in his seat, vowing revenge in an Me262 (yeah, he can see where that's going...) Hunter and Taskforce duelled, with a surprise outcome, Taskforce in his P40 smashed Hunters port wing and sent him down in flames. Speaking of flames, plenty were about in Oberons base as he continually combusted the 262. First exploding on take-off, and then catching fire on engine start-up. The usual business :yep:
Eventually he gave up and switched to a late model Hurricane, interested to see just how long he'd last, he was heading back towards the center of the map when the call came through that the Lolwaffles were being transfered back to Stalingrad.
By this time, Berlin had put a word through to the metrological control room that clouds were forbidden, hoping that the lack of clouds would confuse the Soviet LaG gun, but it was not to be. Everywhere the Lolwaffles went, the LaG gun followed, Moscow, Stalingrad, the only place they were safe was in the free-for-all site. Hunter was indeed perplexed by this powerful weapon, and is still looking into a way to defeat it.

Todays/Yesterdays mission

Firstly we ironed out any problems in the DCG machine and tested for the LaG gun, all was clear, so we took off and headed out. In the distance Hunter spotted rocket flashes, much to his confusion. Oberon frantically looked for the button to release chaff and flares then remembered that this was IL2 not LOMAC and that the rocket flashes were probably Katyushas.

Red Army Choir: Rastsvetali iabloni i grushi
Hunter: Shut it!

Nearby the Katyushas lay IL-2s, the Lolwaffles dived on the IL2s and wrecked havoc, even Oberon got a kill! :o Then they dived on the Little Katies! Destruction was wrought, with Schroeder silencing the AAA before joining the rest of the team.

http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/3528/katiesdy3.jpg

http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/5843/31102008222235rm5.jpg

Unfortunately, during this time, Hunter got his rudder shot away, and therefore on his return, he landed up upside down.

http://img48.imageshack.us/img48/7513/31102008223429we7.jpg

http://img48.imageshack.us/img48/7323/31102008223507yl3.jpg

Speaking of upside down, the Lolwaffles were joined by Australian member Tarjak! Reformed and reorganised, they set off into the air once again. A selection of Yaks was pounced upon and devoured.

http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/4315/31102008231534jz2.jpg

Then the Lolwaffles found themselves out of targets and returning to base. On their way back, Oberon spotted what he thought was a flight of German bombers, there was nothing around so he decided to buzz them for a laugh. Then they opened fire on him. Heavily wounded he had enough to to alert the Lolwaffles that there were IL2s in the area, before crash landing and walking away barely alive from it!

http://img406.imageshack.us/img406/1615/31102008232337wj4.jpg

Tarjak came in an attack run but lost a wing and spiralled into the ground.

http://img406.imageshack.us/img406/1659/31102008232632ee9.jpg

The rest of the IL2s were dispatched by Fin and Schroeder.

http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/8938/31102008232431kp6.jpg

Hunter was returning to base in his Ju88 after a mission to destroy three Soviet tanks, and Task Force was MIA. Fin came in on a landing with no elevators, despite dire warnings from the rest of the Lolwaffles, but he survived with cuts and bruises after flipping his Gustav.

On the third mission, the Lolwaffles were tasked with babysitting a group of 'nuggets', but Hunter took the flight plan and threw it out of the window when his 'sources' told him that Stalin was putting an 'All or nothing' bombing run involving the entire Soviet air force. So, the Lolwaffles headed in, scattering the enemy far and wide, Hunter taking on Peshkas, who seem to have not been from hell since he downed five of them, and Oberon managed to down one before losing contact.

http://img48.imageshack.us/img48/4097/0111200801103py9.jpg

Schroeder had lost the battle to his local internet provider which had 'timed out' somehow at exactly 1am...damn those Soviet spies!! Oberon then decided to RTB but word come through from Hunters 'contacts' that a group of IL2s were bombing the bridge, as Hunter was on finals, Fin, Tarjak and Oberon turned around and headed out for the bridge which by now had been destroyed, so it was time for vengence!
Unfortunately the Soviets had pre-empted this and positioned Yaks to intercept, as Fin, Tarjak and Oberon broke through the clouds over the river, Oberon heard a non-Daimler-Benz engine sound....Yaks!!
A turning battle developed, and Fin went down, then Tarjak got one on his tail, Oberon tried his best to get it off his tail, but was then jumped by one himself. Tarjaks control surfaces by this time were pretty shot up, since he was over friendly territory, he bailed. Oberon tried to provide cover, but ran out of ammo, he tried to clip the nearest Yak but lost it in the cloud. By this time, Tarjak had hit the silk, which left three pretty angry Yaks heading for Oberon...Time for some low level, high speed escape!
Stalin must have put a good bounty on 'the propagandist's head because these three Yaks were not going to let go so easily. Scurrying as low as 10m above the landscape at 500kph Oberon had no time to look over his shoulder, but was guided by Hunter from the base. One Yak gave up and peeled away, but the others kept coming, unable to close to finish the job but unwilling to give up. Soon Oberon could see the circle of German bombers constantly circling over Schultz who by now was screaming "Nicht Landen" every two seconds, home and safety!
It was at that point that the fuel guage needle plonked down onto zero and his engine stopped. He pulled up, prayed that he had enough altitude to bail out in and hit the sack as the two Yaks came in guns blazing. So close, and yet so far! But still alive!

http://img48.imageshack.us/img48/7337/0111200803620iy7.jpg

Authors note: Gees what a rush that last chase was!! I honestly thought I'd had it when Hunter said they were coming in for an attack run, I was expecting to see tracers coming past my cockpit at any second!

Todays mission for the Lolwaffles, if they chose to accept it, was to escort some Stukas...so they chose not to accept it. Instead, Schroeders sources told him that the enemy would be massing at H13, probably near another bridge.
Take off occured with little incident, the Soviet LaG cannon attempting to shoot the Lolwaffles down but failing, managing to disrupt communications instead. Teamspeak was the primary victim, Hunter being the first to fall with his voice sounding like a dyslexic rapper with a bad stutter.
The Lolwaffles encountered some Peshkas from hell, Raptor being the first to open fire, and then promptly ramming the enemy.

http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/9821/raptormeetsaixp7.jpg

Schroeder strafed one heavily, and yet it continued to fly for a good two minutes before deciding to do the decent thing and plummet to its doom.
Oberon went to take one Peshka, only to have the AI steal it from him, swearing at the Artificial Insanity, he switched to the last Peshka and fired everything he had at it, slicing off its wing.

http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/4622/deathtopeshkasvr5.jpg

A return to base began, but then Tarjak spotted some Yaks, possibly the same three Yaks who had been so sore at Oberon the day before, so as he, Schroeder and Fin got stuck in, Oberon turned to try and find the Yaks, although he had limited ammo. He spotted three dots and climbed to intercept only to find that they were not Yaks but the twin engined IL4!
Sadly with sod all ammo there was nothing he could do but report them and return to base where Hunter was waiting in his Stuka from his earlier mission (Taskforce and Hunter had taken the Stukas, Taskforce crashing early due to eating while flying...never a good combination)

http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/4821/01112008221139rq1.jpg

After this, the rest of the group RTB'd and it was decided to end the campaign missions for today and move on to a dogfight server due to the large number of players on board. Kratos bid the crew farewell at that point, leaving Hunter, Oberon, Tarjak, Fin, Schroeder, Task Force and Raptor in the dogfight server.
Oberon designated grid square C3 as the 'Round Table' (Hurrah for Ace Combat reference) and the aircraft did battle there. Eventually, a more organised tournament formed, with Schroe, Hunter and Tarjak in team Blue and Oberon, Fin, Taskforce and Raptor in team Red. The first round, Biplanes, saw Red win, the second pre-1940 aircraft, saw Blue win after Oberon set Fin on fire by mistake (SORRY!! :damn:) saving Hunters bacon as Fin was owning him severely. Schroeder was assassinated by Soviet agents at 1am precisely (punctual these Soviet spies) so Oberon switched to Blue in time for round three, 1940-43. Then Raptor brought in a jet plane and destroyed the world.
Pictures from the dogfight match will go in the Screenshots thread

A handy little trick from Ubizoo: http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/23110283/m/6751058107

I'm always a bit sceptic when someone advertises "a 10 fps performance boost" without any word on the conditions in which it was achieved, but this trick really seemed to work. My average fps in "The Black Death"-track went from about 49-51 to over 60(reboots inbetween runs), and as far as I can remember I didn't change anything else. Funnily enough it was exactly the famous 10 fps boost

Can anyone else confirm my observations?

Seems to work with ATI card too

I've used it for ages, even when I had an ATI card, it definately gives a performance boost, not a big one, but worth doing. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Achtung Achtung!

Todays first mission was a standard air superiority mission near enemy lines, patrolling over an enemy airbase whose air defences the Stukas were to knock out. So when the Lolwaffles had flak thrown up at them they made a note to sort out the Stuka pilots when they got back...little did they realise just how deep the Stuka problem ran.
Oberon spotted contacts on his three o clock, so the team turned to investigate.

http://img369.imageshack.us/img369/686/04112008220951ca4.jpg

Turns out they were the second flight of 109s :damn: So back into turning and waiting we went. Eventually some Peshkas came along to entertain us! Hunter bagged one, Kratos got two and Oberon got one:

http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/2760/04112008221528nk0.jpg

With the Peshka threat eliminated, the Lolwaffles Hunter, Kratos and Oberon returned to base, to discover a scene of carnage and betrayal. On approach cries of "Cease fire, you're shooting at a friendly!" began streaming over the radio, the Lolwaffles put it down to usual clumsy 'Mine Mine Mine' behaviour of their 109 AI companions...but no...it ran deeper than that...

http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/2831/04112008222133to9.jpg

The Stukas were strafing...the Stukas... :hmm: Hunter landed, flipped over and bailed out straight away, not wanting to risk his life, Oberon landed and began to taxi, but then saw a Stuka passing overhead and chickened out, legging it away from the aircraft.
These Soviet spies get everywhere!!

Naturally, High Command was extremely embarrised by this whole affair and promoted Hunter and Oberon to cover it up, given them an Iron Cross 1st class and 2nd class respectively.

Next mission was a transfer mission...pretty simple until you looked at the map and realised that the base that the Lolwaffles were ordered to transfer to was a) behind enemy lines and b) the airbase that shot at us last mission.
Weary of a trap, Hunter contacted his 'sources', and sure enough the entire Soviet airforce had managed to drag their attention away from the nearby bridges long enough to muster a raiding mission on the airbase we were transferring to, with aircraft including the IL2. Their meal selected, the Lolwaffles took off, to the Soviet airfield trap.

http://img120.imageshack.us/img120/8790/nichtdp4.jpg

The Lolwaffles circled over the airfield for some time, Hunter descending to take on a P39 as they began their fighter sweep and Kratos chasing shadows, Oberon ignored the P39s but suddenly found himself with one on his tail, crying out a warning and evading, the attacking P39 soon found himself with Hunter and Kratos after him and after a long dogfight at low altitude, they took him down amongst the circling Ju88s and Schultz screaming Nicht Landen.

http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/7628/takedownjz7.jpg

Oberon was considering RTBing due to the amount of bullet holes in his cockpit but decided against it when Hunter announced the arrival of the IL2s, and he soon became glad he did.
His attack run didn't go quite according to plan to begin with, forcing one IL2 out of formation with a quick MG burst and then looking for the escort.

Oberon: Any sign of the escort?
*Several tracer bursts flit past the cockpit*
Oberon: Ignore that, I've answered my own question!!

The escorting P40s overshot Oberon as he slowed down to IL2 speed and Hunter soon pounced on them, leaving Oberon to take care of the IL2s at his leisure. He took three down, while Hunter took a hit to the elevator and had to bail out over friendly lines, choosing not to risk bailing out near the Soviet airfield trap. Meanwhile Oberon discovered the epitamy of bad timing:

http://img120.imageshack.us/img120/296/04112008230536np8.jpg

IL2 number four lives to see another day!
He returned to base, but on finals noticed the flak guns start up, it would appear that the P40s had heard about the bounty on Oberons head (now increased to two bottles of vodka for the Stalingrad Yak MURDERER!! ) and were following him home. He slammed himself down on the runway sharpish and ran for cover, joining Kratos who sadly, didn't think he'd gotten anything.
The Lolwaffles hope to prove him wrong.

Yup nice report again Oberon  The first sortie everyone got 100pts but i got 200pts. So that might be where Oberon got facts from, the only thing i can assume, I took a pot shot at one of the planes strafing our airbase, just before landing, never noticed if it went down or not.:hmm:

Deutschland, Deutschland, uber Lolwaffles!

First mission of the day, saw Hunter, Oberon and Kratos sent to escort some Romanian He-111s, at first Hunter said "Sod it" but then he realised just what was being thrown at those 111s and decided to stick to the mission. A mission that had to be restarted once after Oberon applied just a smidgeon too much starboard rudder and wound up in a pile on the side of the runway on take-off.
On the second attempt, Von Manstein and his merry bunch of tank commanders came through to watch the Lolwaffles take off.

http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/1108/vonmansteingt5.jpg

The Lolwaffles climbed to height to intercept the Yaks and sure enough stumbled across them. Hunter nailed three, Oberon nailed two and Kratos chased Oberons wingman.

http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/2761/gotchaum7.jpg

However, on return to base, Oberon slipped up. At 450kph, he dropped his gear...as you can imagine, this did not end well...

http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/240/05112008215521fy8.jpg

Weighing up the choice between the cost of one Me109G2 or his career as a Leutnant with nine kills under his belt, Oberon aimed his aircraft at the far side of the airfield and bailed out. The 109 glided into a nice belly landing fireball in the hills not far from the airbase as Kratos was putting his plane down.

http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/6374/05112008215841fe4.jpg

At the beginning of mission two, Fincuan and Taskforce joined the three Lolwaffles, as Oberon opened up a parcel from Onkel Goring and was delighted to find a Iron Cross First Class dedicated to the "Stalingrad Yak MURDERER!! "
This mission was a fighter sweep over the airfield at F8, however Taskforce, unable to join the G2 squadron, was forced to take an F2, and spent the rest of the mission until quite later on, coaxing every delicate joule of energy out of the Daimler-Benz to get himself there before all the LaGs were downed.

http://img530.imageshack.us/img530/2176/05112008223029ni7.jpg

Battle was joined over the airfield, with Hunter getting one on his six, and Oberon doing his best to clear it, he chased over the LaG, clearing Hunters tail, but then lost the damn Soviet thing in the ground clutter. Cursing his bad eyesight he pulled up and looked for another target, Hunter had nailed a couple, Fin had and Kratos looked to have as well...then a patter of machine gun fire told him that he had company, turning to intercept he saw a LaG heading north. He turned north to follow but the LaG seemed to have a slight speed advantage because Oberon, try as hard as he might, could not close the gap. Then he realised why the LaG was so uninterested in turning around to fight...he had spotted Kratos in the square ahead. Radioing ahead a warning, Oberon tried to close the gap, he tried long range pot shots trying to spook the LaG into turning but nothing...then suddenly, the LaG begun a turn to port. Oberon breathed a sigh of relief and began to turn to match, wondering what had spooked the LaG...suddenly a 109F2 screamed past his cockpit within a matter of meters.
Taskforce had arrived.
Oberon attempted to close the distance to the LaG, but Taskforce was there and not budging.

http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/3677/05112008223209ri3.jpg

Rather than risk a collision, Oberon gave up on the LaG and went after a reported sighting of some IL2s from Fin, who ran out of fuel and had to crash land shortly afterwards, contact was lost with the IL2s and so Oberon and Taskforce returned to base.

Fincuan
11-05-08, 06:27 PM

All I'm gonna say is my running out of fuel had a little bit to do with the IL2s, but in my defense I can say that in addition to the LaGG driver dispatched earlier in the mission four of his IL2 comrades won't be back for their vodka!

Another glorious victory for the Lolwaffles!! :hmm:

The first mission gave us a limited supply of Gustavs, and therefore while Hunter, Kratos, Fin and Taskforce took Gustavs, Oberon took a Freddie and Raptor took a STUKA!
About twenty minutes into the mission and the first dogfight, Hunter was hit by the Lag cannon and destroyed. The mission was aborted and restarted.
By this time, Kratos had called it a night and was replaced by Tarjak, Fin defected to the Yaks and Oberon transferred to the Gustavs.
Things did not go so well on take-off...
http://img206.imageshack.us/img206/4650/06112008214622ni2.jpg

Tarjak was struck by the Lag cannon, veered off course to port and smashed himself up. Later it was discovered that Soviet field agents AVG and Skype had conspired to give the Lag cannon the co-ordinates of Tarjaks aircraft.
In the air, the remaining Gustav Lolwaffles prepared themselves for the Yak fight, Hunter was confident that the 'Stalingrad Yak MURDERER' would triumph, however the man behind the legend was not so confident...an AI aircraft is one thing...but a human one...
Naturally, while Hunter and Taskforce pounced on the AI, Oberon got the human. Taking the fight down to the ground he lasted a good ten to fifteen minutes before clipping the ground with his tail section whilst doing an Split-S.

http://img239.imageshack.us/img239/9617/06112008220052cp9.jpg

He survived the conflaguration and is sharing a Gulag with Taskforce who got the wrong end of a Yak. Hunter and Fin duelled afterwards, before Hunter ran out of cannon ammo and RTB'd.
Meanwhile Freislers little adjunct, Raptor, had completed his mission and returned to base, his Stuka compatriots flying around the airfield aimlessly and colliding with each other.
However, during the debriefing, Mini-Freisler got a little shock...

http://img239.imageshack.us/img239/1084/06112008221358sf5.jpg

Turns out, the target Raptor had been sent to destroy happened to be a group of Guderians tanks. Raptor blamed Schultz for this mishap, but some of the Lolwaffles suspected that perhaps Von Manstein had had a hand in this, jealous perhaps of Guderians successes. It would certainly explain the sudden appearance of the armour in yesterdays sortees.

Next mission, well...it was a doozy. Transfer missions all round and not a ruddy Gustav to be seen, Freddies, Heinkels, and some strange Romanian thing called an IAR.
Taskforce was assasinated by Goring at this point, for reasons unknown.
http://www.fmft.net/German%20Snipers%20Mauser%20K98.jpg

Oberon took an He-111, Raptor took an IAR and Tarjak and Hunter took Freddies.
Then the chaos began.
Raptor, at the lead of the IARs, took off successfully, however his wingman for some reason managed to crash midway, so then the IAR behind him collided with his wreckage and blew up...and then the IAR behind that collided...

http://img239.imageshack.us/img239/467/06112008222209xa1.jpg

http://img185.imageshack.us/img185/9696/06112008222237do6.jpg

Oberon took one look at the carnage and pulled off the runway onto the taxi-way.

Naturally, the He-111s behind him, took off blindly into the wreckage.

http://img76.imageshack.us/img76/6809/06112008222412hd5.jpg

Eventually, enough He-111s made it into the sky to make it worth taking off, so Oberon used the taxi-way and made a break for it. Partway there another He-111 decided to play chicken, but broke away first, passing within meters of Oberons cockpit. Fin, once again, was playing traitor in his Yak-7, but the Soviet airforce was miles away from the Lolwaffles and neither met. Although there were rumours of suspiciously Romanian piloting in the Yaks. Speaking of the IARs, Raptor took his smoke-trail and nav light equipped IAR and stalled it straight into the ground. Leaving Tarjak, Hunter and Oberon left to return to base.
Nearing the airfield, Oberon told the remaining 111s to hold position.

Then he went in for a landing, the suicidal wingman again making his appearance, trying to smash himself into the airfield. Oberon made a decidedly dodgy landing, at a 45 degree angle to the runway, and then spun around in circles trying to get off the runway.
Not exactly the best two missions of the Lolwaffles history...

yep, was a good flight.:D

Task Force
11-08-08, 10:00 AM
Is there any way we could bump the flight 1 or 2 hours earlyer, Were more than likely going fishing tonight (and its saturday and most dont have work)

Fincuan
11-08-08, 10:53 AM
That would be fine for me, in fact even better than the original time.

Task Force
11-08-08, 11:06 AM
Maby we could start earlyer on the weekends so we could get more done, most dont work on the weekends.:yep:

( found my new favorite plane for late war The Ta-152H-1)

Fincuan
11-08-08, 11:09 AM
most dont work on the weekends.:yep:

I almost never do, but I know for sure that Hunter does quite often as his work is tied to tourism. Gotta keep those tourist girls occupied you know

ps. If you like the Ta-152H-1 then you should really try the Dora-9. It's better in every aspect until about 8000 meters, after which the Ta takes the lead.

Task Force
11-08-08, 11:23 AM
Will do Will do.:D Currently in a Ta 152H1 campagine, sucker goes crazy fast when diveing (Ive flipped(over 700Km) the speed guage and not been torn apart) It also tears Il2s apart like a knife cutting butter.:yep: (engine in it is a little tempermental though, you cant punch the throttle when WEP is on)

Raptor1
11-08-08, 11:26 AM
The Tank 152 is an awesome high-altitude fighter (Which is what it was designed to do), but at lower altitudes the Dora beats it quite easily (the huge wings make a pretty nice target)

Oh, if you want a plane to tear IL-2s to shreds with, try the Do 335

11-08-08, 11:36 AM
Thats what Im gona do after finishing my current campagin.

Sorry for my quick departure yesterday, but as you probably noticed I was way too tired. And whenever I get tired I don't only loose my ability to speak in whole sentences but I'm also getting really annoyed of the AI that can look through clouds, is faster than it should be, can pull 100G manoeuvres and isn't effected by turbulences.:nope:
