Is there a way to make the flags for the ships larger so they can be viewed easier? I know the scope has a 10x magnification for GWX2.0. and I dont want the flags to be giant, but a little increase in size would help.

IN the /library folder there is flags.dat and flag.dat. Inside these are the countries flags. If I increased the size of the tga would they appear bigger in the game? If anyone has any helpful info on this subject please help!

Nope.
Won't work.
The flags are animated.
To change thier size, you must also do new animations.

Are the flag animations hard coded then? Or can they be accessed?

You can change the models using a good 3D modeling app such as Wings3D, 3D Studio MAX, or Maya. 3DSMax was the tool used by the SH3 devs at Ubisoft, if I recall correctly.

In the 'SilentHunterIII\data\Objects' folder are all the files for the "turms", or conning towers, of the U-boats. The models are in the .dat files.

Use Pack3D or skwas' S3D (Silent 3ditor) to unpack the models into .obj files for editing.

And you now know as much as I do on the subject.

Good luck and let us know what you learned so others can learn, too!

Hi!

Maybe not so nuts, since some neutral merchant ships did paint their national flags on the side of the hull in the hope the U-boats would be able to tell them apart from belligerent merchant ships.
