After a few days fight with my PC today I finally managed to start my first GWX2.0 career. Got almost sunk by a task force, September '39... Hehe. GWX team, I owe you a bunch of fresh zitronen und bananen. :)

I got 3 problems:
1. On my nav. map, zoomed in closely, I see a large dark grey square centered on my boat (it's sides lined up with the boat main axis). The same on he TDC map.

2. The marker tool is a plain white rectangle, much larger than th tool graphics. Does it's job, but looks very bad.

Any ideas how to get rid of these two?

3. My patrol started in rough seas, so I hear the wind blowing and whistling. But I hear it regardless of where I am – on the surface, at periscope depth, submerged deeply, in the hydrophone room, in map view. It gets louder on the bridge, but never stops. Very annouying, as using the hydrophones is almost impossible.

I would very appreciate any tips. My config is:
Win XP Prof. 2002 SP 2, Polish version
NVidia GeForce 4 MMX
C-Media AC97 Audio Device
Possibly newest drivers.
SHIII + GWX 2.0 + SH3 Commander 2.7.0.130
Enabled mods:
– GWX - Altenate Loadscreen - Fulll Circle
– GWX - Captain's America Officer Icons
– GWX - Lite Harbour Traffic
– GWX - Main Movie - 'Das Boot'
– GWX - VIIC41 Player Sub
The SHIII and GWX install is brand new, never modded, never changed manually in any way.

I'll provide you with any other info if needed.

Thank you guys for help. Mikhayl: I've just sucked your bearing overlay files and I'll try them in minutes. Hope that works.

Contact: Yes indeed, that happened after Alt-Tabbing and ended after restarting the game. Now I'll be more cautious. Thank you.

The last bug that troubles me is the marker tool looking like a large white rectangle.

Unfortunately Mikhayl's files didn't solve the problem, my bearing overlay still turns into a large dark grey square. :/

Not sure what would cause that sounds like a possable video setting, just to test out the bearing overlay I have my own version at my download site (see signature), it is JSGME ready, could try that out.:-?

Thanks Reece. I tried your files, but after install the game refused to load (CTD just before "Not so long ago"). Restoring previous config made the game run as before.

I'm really confused as the grey square makes manual plotting almost impossible. Bearing overlay would be useful, but I can live without it and I think I'll use Mikhayls advice and edit the config files. :/

Maybe it's my video card unable to process TGA's transparency?

Thanks Reece. I tried your files, but after install the game refused to load (CTD just before "Not so long ago")
Gee that's nuts, only a tga file, you did download the "Nav_Map_Bearing_Tool_v2_1.rar" file, you have to read the doc file first as the folders are blank, so by itself would do nothing!!:-?

If this is a new installation, did you have a 100% clean install and did you check your downloaded files with the MD5 mate?

Reece: Yes, I've read the readme :D, but I was too lazy to create the files for each type of sub, so instead I chose just to create the one I need, i.e. VIIB type. After renaming the file and putting it to it's directory i installed the 'patch' via JSGME (after rolling back SH3Commander). I suppose I did it proper way. :/

danlisa: As clean as possible, completely new system install, game install (without patching as it comes with 1.4b patch from the box) and GWX install. I also checked the MD5 sums with JSMD5Mate before launching exe (files downloaded via GWX site). Installation went flawlessly.

My guesses are:
– too little RAM (quite strange),
– problems with TGA transparency (i.e. my card's unable to deal with TGA properly).
I don't have any more ideas.

As my game likes to CTD even without any reason (due to lack of RAM, I suppose), I'll give Reece's files one more try, this time creating BO for all the possible sub types.

I'd appreciate any new tips.

Thank you guys for help – this Forum would be nothing without the feel of being part of a real community. :)

EDIT:
Reece's files work now, after creating a file for each sub type and installing it via SH3 Commander. BIG thank you, Reece. Oberleutnant z. S. Herbert Mann will write your name on the first torpedo he launches on his next (third) patrol.
