View Full Version : Purpose of NSS_Uboat7c41 folder is ??

I might have found a possible dev team bug or a phantom folder from ??. The folder \data\Submarine\NSS_Uboat7c41 and all the files it contains seems to be incorrect or some of the files are not needed. I enabled my smoke mode for VIIc and made a test mission using the VIIc41 and VIIc42 subs and they both had smoke!. Now this NSS_Uboat7c41 folder has a separate .dat and .val file labeled NSS_Uboat7c41.dat and NSS_Uboat7c41.val (which I have not modded to enable smoke). It also has all the other files commonly found in the \data\Submarine folders. It appears that the VIIc/41 and VIIc/42 use the NSS_Uboat7b files. So what's the function/purpose of the NSS_Uboat7b41 folder? I tried this with my smoke mod disabled for VIIc and both the VIIc/41 and VIIc/42 lose their smoke. Anyone got any ideas?
I tried deleting the folder and it caused a CTD. So there are some files that are needed.......time to explore what is needed in that folder.
I restored the folder and deleted the NSS_Uboat7b41.dat and NSS_Uboat7b41.val and everything is fine. This is very puzzling to me! :arrgh!:
I'll keep deleting files and see what happens......

Hi Racerboy,
could it be possible that this files used by the AI-Boats from Sergbuto?`
By the way would be nice if they could smoke too.
Kind regards
PS: Did you read my question about using your great smoke-mods in WAC 3.0?
It would be really kind of you if we could get your permission:lol:

PM sent to you A6Intruder.
If this is the folder used by the AI boats then I should be able to give them smoke! Can someone verify that this is the folder being used by Sergbuto?

Yes its an AI boat
this is too cool!! Time to contact Sergbuto and see if I can incorporate my smoke mod into his AI sub. :o
Edit:
I have permission to use the .dat and .val files from GWX from Kpt. Was this an add on in GWX? If so I can mod it now.

Can someone build me a single mission that includes this AI sub near my sub so I can test this? I've added the necessary changes to make this AI sub have exhasut smoke and I would like to see if it works or not. Calm seas and calm winds preferred for this please.

MM gave me directions on how to make it but if you're willing to do it for me then by all means, my friend, I am willing to let you!
I should have the info for the tweak files for my exhaust mod to you hopefully before Monday.

Hi Racerboy,
I remember a post of Sergbuto where he said that he didn't change/clone the object IDs of his 7c/41 AI sub. After comparison of both files [stock's .dat & 7c/41's .dat] by Pack3D I got that confirmed. Maybe that's the reason why this uboat also got exhaust smoke because you use the same object IDs, too.
I hope you understand my thoughts in spite of my bad English :hmm:

It didn't get exhaust smoke that's why I was wondering what it was. Now that I know it's the AI sub and I've modded the files for it all I have to do is test it to ensure it works!

Hi Racerboy, regarding permissions for the NSS_VIIC/41 AI sub model, you will have to speak with Sergbuto
