View Full Version : I add a Gato for the Player's sub, but I get a Gar?

I add a Gato sub to the game, and assign it as Human Control. But in the Single Missions screen it defaults to a Gar sub, and Gato is not even in the list of subs to pick from.

I have been confused about this for a while. I seem to add specific subs, but others appear as the Player sub. I assume it has something to do with the dates of the mission/sub Entry. What gives?

To get the sub to show up correctly you have to match the starting date to the sub entry date. First change the entry date to the starting date of your single mission. Then change the entry date for the sub to match the starting date. You should see the gato class sub listed plus you will have the equipment updates for the sub as of the time also such as radar, etc.

Hmm... I tried this but it didn't work.

I set the Mission Parameters Start Date to 11/15/1941 @ 00:30
I set the Gato Sub's Entry Date to 11/15/1941 @ 00:00

In the Single Missions menu, my mission shows up with the Gat as the default sub, and the Gato is not in the list at all.

What is the 'Evolve from Entry Date' checkbox? Should I be using that? It's unchecked now.

EDIT:
Also, I just looked at the second stock single mission (SM02) because it uses a Gato which does show up in the game.
It has a Mission Parameter Start Date of 10/23/1944 @ 05:01
It's Gato Sub's Entry date is 10/23/1044 @ 01:00

Do I need to adjust the Sub's 'Unit Version Date' Month/Year also?

Nope, setting the Unit Version Date didn't help for me.

I did finally get a Gato as the default by changing the Mission year from 1943 to 8/12/1941. I looked at another mission that used a Gato and set the Mission and Sub to that date. It worked.

I'm guessing that the game was saying that the Gato was out of commision and so it gave me the next sub, a Gar?

So, I need to know the Entry and Exit date for 'every' sub to set the Mission dates if I want to pic a specific sub?? :-?
