View Full Version : Need help with graphics for a cool add-on
I am already since a long time ago researching and writing an article about the procedures for getting firing solutions in real life U-Boots and have been able to get incredible high quality info in the process. I can now explain how germans got the AOB of their targets (With a purpose made wiz-wheel attached to the scope:rock: !!!) and want to do a mod for SH3 that allows you to have at last that wiz-wheel on your hands (Since unfortunately I can't put it in the game) if you are ready to print and cut a bit, yet I need to make some modifications in the scope graded reticle to add some stuff for the easiest use (Following a picture I have of a real view through the scope).
Can someone tell me which file contains that reticle or how to add new stuff there?
Any help much appreciated:yep:
P.S. 1: If someone has an idea on how to put moveable (Rotatory) graphics in the scope screen contact me and we can try to build it in-game
P.S. 2: I'm finishing the article in spanish, when it's ready it will be translated to english and be available publically:up:
I thought you did that hear:

Sounds like a cool idea. Sorry I can't help directly.
Have you thought of accomplishing this idea by using the menu.ini, ala the Big Dials Mod.:hmm:
I'm not sure wether it's possible to add functional/moving objects to the static models in the U-Boats themselves. The people to ask would be Privateer, DivingDuck, Flakmonkey or Ref.

No that's a wiz wheel for calculating intercept courses and track angles. The reverse side was done based on a similar tool of the US Navy. Yet after contacting with the Artifacts Keeper of the Royal Navy Submarine museum (Where the originalwheel is located) she informed me that there is nothing in the reverse side of it :o except a handle to hold it. SO I kept investigating and came across some interesting info....
So what I'm preparing now is something new and really juicy, because it complements the part that UBI did not get right, -probably due to lack of enough info or time for research- and allows targeting in SH3 like it was done in real life aboard U-Boots without plotting a single line on the map ... (Teaser:D )

Yes I thought, but sadly I have no idea how to do it :damn: that's why I'm asking
Check with poor sailor who created on of the dials mods. he may know which files you can play with.
I cannot find a file containing the reticle but maybe you can try adding new things to file data\menu\gui\periscope.tga. Please let me know if you need some help with graphic stuff.
Sounds very interesting, maybe I will not uninstal SHIII (due to bugs and game crashes :-? ) for now...

Sorry but I can't help, because I used the files from original FLB Sale "6dials Simfeeling mod". Maybe FLB Sale U-999 can help to You. His mod is really great.

Yes I finally found how...I have added the extra scale to my scope now:up:

Wauw! ..... how is progress on this? :arrgh!:
I'm completing my article and building the templates, but only the basics has been done yet. Lots of work, but progressing nicely...when I have them printed and functioning I will try to contact someone who can place them in the game :hmm:
@aaron: Do you speak german? Most of the stuff I have is in german, and translating it would be a PITA :damn:

Thanks for update. I'd like reading also your article when it's ready (even in Spanish, I can read a little Spanish, though not very well)
Thanks

Hey Hitman, how big is the text that you need translating from German? My wife could do it, if I'm very, very nice to her...
