I remember reading what it meant a while ago, but forgot (mine's currently unchecked). :oops: :hmm:

"Well hello ...dear!", said the handsome sailor

In todays world Sync would be:-

Non-Sync
========
Update your screen image anytime.
Produces occasional flicker and image jitter

Sync
====
Update your screen only during blanking times.
Depending on you graphics card/PC might produce
funny images.

NOTES
=====
Most GCards Nowdays have Dual(triple) port video rams
making the above redundant.

Go for 'synchronised video' as a standard :up:

So far away I can see

Don't quote me but from memory neither Synchronized or DynamicShadows are used in SHIII, setting on or off does nothing, these were discussed years ago and sure their of this.

Sorry to disagree as directly...

After pouring a little more power into my PC... the difference is wonderful when "synchronize" was enabled within SH3.

Prior to that... and having gone back and forth between the two:

Not enabled= lots of little graphic tearing. Quite playable all the same. FPS scale though is all over the place depending on rendered events. FPS may run in the hundreds at top end.

Enabled= zero/zilch/nada tearing... perfect fluidity of motion without so much as a sneeze. FPS stabilized at 75 in most situations and only reduced under very heavy load.

For lack of a better way of explaining it... Enabling graphic synchronization within SH3, ties the rendered graphic to a stabilized and better timed frame output.

IIRC, Dynamic Shadows can be enabled manually (don't remember where - perhaps a search could find the thread). Enabling it caused shadows to appear inside the subs (that weren't there before) and made a significant difference visually.

Yes, they can be turned on from the cfg files, but I didnt notice any difference to them being turned off. :hmm:

The setting is in the main.cfg in Data\cfg\ just turn the DynamicShadows=No to Yes.

But like I said, I couldnt spot any difference.

Dynamic shadows are an un-finished feature in SH3. The engine does not call on them.:dead:

SH3 has a few "might have beens" in it.
