Hi fellas,
New to the forum so Hi to everyone !!
I have just purchased the stock SH3 (yes I know, should have done it ages ago) but wow what a game. I have also modded it to the GWX expansion and this is simply awesome - words fail me.
One small query though, what happened to that handy little orange circle in GWX when one is submerged that helps you guide your way around?
I have only been playing the game a few days and I will be moving away from using the circle, but for now, given my noob status, it was kind of helpful.
Is there any way to re-activate it in the Greywolves mod?
Many Thanks in Advance Guys

In the stock game you can turn it off with:
ctrl+del (numpad del)
Maybe you can it on that way?

It was removed for realism's sake:stare:

Theoretically, if you have backed up SH3 before installing GWX, it all is a matter of using the original "Umark" file found in SilentHunterIII/Data/Misc
and overwriting with it the GWX file with the same name.
Good hunting:up:

Sorry Folks
It doesn't work in GWX2
It was already in data\misc
I over wrote it with new umark and it still doesn't show.
That's odd,it worked fine for me....

Maybe, but although GWX 2 is AWESOME within the confines of computer gaming, it is by its very nature, unrealistic when compared to the realities of submarine warfare 1939-45.
I don't think the presence or absence of the umark either adds or detracts with regard to authenticity.

I think it's purely down to individual taste.
Personally speaking I think it detracts from the immersion of the game, but I've no problem if that's what some people prefer. :nope: Hell!! I keep it on my FF account for the very reason, some people enjoy the mods, but prefer to know the exact location of their sub to boot

My comment was a joke aimed at my friend Hitman, the point being that the external view is unrealistic itself, so who cares whether someone can see the u-mark or not?
As for the game being unrealistic by nature, it's true that a game can't duplicate the real thing, especially the part where you can't die. The purpose of "realism" mods like GWX is to aid those who want to gain a realistic feel, if nothing else. The point (for a few of us at least) of playing the sim at all is to get a feel for what it was actually like. I encourage everyone to play exactly the way they like; why have the game be moddable if you can't use different mods? Anyone can mod or unmod any part they like. Hitman was just explaining why it was removed; I was just making a joke.:sunny:
