Subject kind of says it all. The new patch deleted every 2D compartments entry like:

^^^ that's the Mogami before the patch, now all that is gone.

Not sure if you played SH3
There was a Vunerability Mod that placed different coloured squares on the rec manual for different areas ie Aft Ammo Bunker etc
That info was taken from the 2d compartments and allowed , when close enough , auto targetting of that area

Ability to hit a sweet spot and so get a one shot kill

Modded ships lost that ability as 2d compartments not udated or moved
Diff damage models further screwed it up

Not sure why the devs would remove all the info from the ships cfgs though
