I considering adding more lighthouses around the norwegian coast for navigational purposes. How do i do that in the editor? What layers do i need to manipulate, and can i do it in the already existing campaign layers? Using GWX, what else...!:up:

They need to be added through the locations.cfg

C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\data\Terrain

Open the mission editor and zoom in to where you want the lighthouse to go

At the bottom of the mission ed you will notice lat and long coordinates when your mouse is in the right place

Oh when you are zoomed in press the "o" on your keyboard - it will render the shoreline better

When you have the coordinates written down you can open up the locations.cfg

Add a new entry to the bottom of the list

You new entry should read something like this

[Location xxx]
Long=10.193300
Lat=54.383495
Heading=180
OnLand=false
ShowOnMap=true
FileName=Lighthouse
LocationName=Seths lighthouse

You wont see it clearly in the mission ed
Best way to check it out is to make a single mission at the new location to make sure its ok

Appreciated, mate. I have one question, maybe a little stupid...
Do i have to rollback the commander before adding these lighthouses?

Well you are modding SH3 so I would just to be safe
And make sure you are in port or your patrol may not work after as your are adding stuff

If I remember correctly---You have to get the map cordinates from the mission editor for where you want them and then actually place them using the the locations file in the terrain folder.

general example: 1. open the Lnd layer in mission editor--place the pointer of
your mouse on a spot where you want to place the lighthouse and
write down the long and lat numbers (last two set of numbers
showing on lower left of editor map screen). then close out.

2. open the "locations file" with notepad in the sh3/dat/terrain folder.
3. find a location # listing with a _lighthouse file in it within the location
listing.
4. copy and paste that listing at the end of your location file.
5. renumber the listing so it is the last location # in the location file.
6. change the long and lat #'s to what you wrote down from the editor.-
-you might also have to change the "on land" line to "=true/ or =false"
depending on how close your cordinate points are to the water edge.
7. close out location file and click yes to "save new changes"

This same method can be used to add ports, cities, and town files to your install--you just have to play with it to find what file is what.

BBW wrote a great tutorial on it a while back--I'll try to find the thread for you or you can check his filefront page--he might still have it for download.
