Well, since I dont see one already, I guess I will start one.

I have one thing that came up when I started a new campaign.

First off, here is what I got loaded.

Clean install of SHIII w/ patch 1.4b
Commander 2.7 (sim previously ran to create required files)
GWX w/ 2.7 files (loaded with no problems)
No add-ons loaded.

Ok, so I crank up Commander and create a new campaign.

Random pick Captains name
Date sept 1939
2nd Flot (wilemshaven) w/ TY VIIB

SHIII loads up and I pick up the campaign. I pick sept 1939 and 2nd Flot and I end up in Kiel with a TY IIA sub.

Not a big thing but I thought I did something wrong but I picked correctly.

Any ideas?

Just checking you did add the GWX 2.7 files to commander yes ?

Once you get in game and start new career, I think you still need to match year and location with the left/right arrows. They won't always be the same. Then you should be good to go.

Well I just chose the 2nd flot in a VIIB through commander and again ingame and I started in Wilhelmshaven in a VIIB
By default the games first selection is the 1st flot
As posted above you need to select 2nd flot

Is the 30. Flottille included? I was looking forward to type IIs in the Black Sea, but I can't find the 30. anywhere, either in the game or in SH3 Commander 2.7.

Anyone else have any luck?

bigboywooly
12-16-06, 08:55 PM
Yes of course the 30th is included
Do you have the right dates ?
October 1942 in SH3commander

12-16-06, 09:25 PM
Had only one issue trying to load GWX.... I goofed and had added JSGME by mistake. Yeah I read the manual but still did it anyways like an idyit. If you do anything other than a fresh SHIII install and add Patch 1.4b, GWX will not install. Then you'll have to uninstall and start all over again. Trust me, I found out the hard way. :damn:

Do you have the GWX specific files added to SH3Commander ?

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=R3824YLO (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=R3824YLO)

And SH3commander 2.6 or above ?

Fab
12-16-06, 10:28 PM
Yes. I installed those files, and I'm using Commander 2.7.

October 1942 has no 30th Flotilla. Obviously something is wrong. How do I go about tracking down the issue? Is there some file I can check for to see if I have it or to see if the code inside it is correct?

But even without SH3 Commander there's none. If I go into the game directly and try to make a new career I don't see the 30th.

bigboywooly
12-16-06, 10:46 PM
Then it sounds like your install is corrupt
Did you do the MD5 check on all the files before install ?
Remove the SH3 folder in my docs before install ?

It should say 30th/33rd Flotilla

You can look in

I didn't do the MD5, but I did blow everything off the hard drive and reinstall. Without SH3 Commander installed yet, I was able to make a career in SH3 directly with the 30th/33rd Flotilla. So it looks like whatever problem I was having it was mine and mine alone.

Thanks for the help.

Are these the asian subs?

If so, you need to make the days inbetween patrols -----> 55 days.

I read it in the GWX manual concerning using Commander.

Yes, I loaded the GWX files needed for Commander.

I think what happened is what others have said. I forgot to double check before I hit start.

No big deal, just delete campaign and start a new one.

You sure your SH3Cmdr is pointing to your GWX installation? If SH3Cmdr lists anything OTHER THAN:

1st Flotilla
2nd Flotilla
7th/13th Flotilla <note the difference!>
10th Flotilla
11th Flotilla
23rd/29th Flotilla <note the difference!>
12th Flotilla
30th/33rd Flotilla <note the difference!>

for the Flotillas AND you have GWX installed, then SH3Cmdr has not been correctly set up to point to your GWX installation. Make sure you use the /l switch appropriately.

What a fantastic mod - thanks folks! :D

A funny thing happened to me in El- Ferrol. I had fled to the nearest neutral port to patch up my boat after a disastrous passage through the channel....

I stopped a few hundred yards off the wharf in El-Ferrol and ended the mission.

My only option to end patrol was to return to base - which I clicked on....

and then suddenly I ended in Willhelmshaven! LOL

Probably user error on my part but the Spanish were very helpful! :rotfl:

This is the Pyro Ship I found in North Sea today. As you can see, there are a lot of textures or polygons missing:

Started patrol in Jan 1942....encountered 2 tankers and a med cargo SW of ireland, all flying Irish Flag.

Then encountered single Medium Cargo which I sank with deck gun within 10 rounds aimed below waterline at long range......bit suprised she sank so quickly.

As a manual targeting kinda guy, I really miss the slide out TDC mod that appears in NYGM 2.2.....any chance it could be added or is there a reason why not ? I ask because i'd be happy to add it myself if its compatible.

Thats it so far...except the crew fatigue model, gonna have to turn that off as everyone had red eclamation marks after crossing BoB.....way to quick. Also damage model didn't deactivate at high compressions.

Just to note, clean install + patch, no mods, using SH3 Com 2.7 with GWX CFG files installed.

Cheers, Hans.

On the subject of the Pyro, it seems the correct deck texture got omitted by mistake (it was a busy time for the team after all). The UV Mapping was corrected on all of my ships by ref, and new deck textures were made by Boris to match the new deck areas. Hopefully, we will be able to release the correct versions in an update.

You may also notice that the Chatham has this problem as well, and the Rose Castle is not the correctly UV Mapped version.

There is an optional 'Lite Harbor Traffic' mod that comes with GWX which can be enabled with JSGME that also comes with GWX.

You'll probably need to provide us with more info, but initially while still in the port area, your frame rates will always be much lower.

Dont know if this is a bug or what but i started a new carrer whit sh3cmdr, latest edition. Then in middle of patrol i did a save and logged out.

Then when i was rdy to play again i startd up the game whit the GWX shortcut that is on desktop ( clicked it by misstake) And when i was about to load my save file, it where nowhere to find. The loading page where the file is listed was empty.
So i logged out and checked the folder where the saves are stored and my saves was still there but they didnt show up ingame.

So iam a bit confussed of this.
If i use sh3cmdr when i play and then start a game whit the gwx shortcut will my save games be lost again?
I dont want to try it cuz ive done some patrols now and dont want to loose them.

I just gave GWX a 1st go (and loving it!).
One minor thing, not really a bug:

One of the first things I tried, was to see if the Enter-key doesn't fire a torpedo by accident anymore...fixed by default, excellent!
But then I noticed that the Enter-key didn't get a new function.
I always set the Enter-key to TimeCompression=1, and so I did this the usual way:

In the Data/Cfg folder you will find the 'commands_en.cfg' file.

At the top are the 6 commands for time commpression. Change command 6 to :

[Cmd6]
Name=Time_compr_normal
Ctxt=1,2,6,9
Key0=0x0D,,"Enter"

I think this also should have been a default GWX-setting, therefore I posted this...maybe a small detail to add in any future-updates.
It's a very usefull key this way, imo.

GWX doesn’t run on my Comp, I end up with CTD’s. :dead:

Don’t know if I did something wrong, I:

Downloaded GWX
Downloaded teh German Keybord hotfix
Downloaded 5MD + 5MD reference
Compare check says OK to all 5 BIN-files. It returns some error messages of the kind of Language =/EN and for GWX exe, so I downloaded GWX.exe form a different server, same result, I don’t think that is the issue

Uninstalled all Mods with JSGME
Rolled back Commander (an old version)
Deleted Commander
Uninstalled SH III; with option to not to keep saved games
Deleted remaining folders

Installed stock SH III, but w/o GameStar
Installed patches 1.1 to 1.4b

Check: Game is loading and running fine on the patched vanilla version, so it is defiantly a GMX issue
Prior to this, I run SHIII 1.4b with IuB 1.3 with harbour traffic and without problem.

Install GWX – No issues
Installed the keyboard hotfix
Installed the “No ships in harbour”-option (don’t remember the exact name any more, the one to save save computing power) via JSGME

Now upon starting SHIII-GWX, it first loads fine into the menu section. I choose a career (no specific one, lets say 1943 St.Nazaire) and press “Start” in the briefing section.

The loading bar goes to 90%, stops and after a while the game CTD’s without any windows message.

I tried this procedure three, four times yesterday with variants, (English version iso the German one, turned down graphics options, started with or without the newly installed Commander 2.7): Basically always the identically CTD at 90%.

My comp is on the lower performance end with 1.83 GHz [edited, not 1.2] and 512 RAM. Guess GWX has higher performance requirements than the vanilla version, at least that’s my last idea. Seems that I have to stay on IuB.:damn:

No need to say that’s sad, because I would LOVED to have the additional flotillas and Jungman’s “Die Hard”-Mod.

Any chance of a GWX version for “low performer PC’s” or a singled-out Jungman’s “Die Hard” mod?

Any help is appreciated.

Cheers,

VonHelsching

Presumably a totally DIFFERENT installation of SH3?

AndyW
12-18-06, 05:40 AM
@Van Helsching: Yep, left no traces.

@danlisa: No, I mean, I deleted my old Commander prior setting up SH III from scratch, i.o.w. I left no trace of old commander files prior re-installing vanilla SH III

@JScones: Well, I completely de-installed SH III it and re-installed it from the same original DVD. The patched vanilla version is running fine.

I believe it's an issue with the low performace of my Comp, is 1.1 GHz/512RAM the watershed between being able to run SHIII 1.4b + IUB 1.03 (more or less decent) and not being able to run it with GWX?

Cheers,

IIRC the old skins will/may not work correctly (cable fix issues) etc. People are being advised by the devs to wait for new skins which I believe are currently being worked on

Some minor issues/questions:
1. I have like a gap between sky and sea all around the horizon? I installed 16km atmosphere and running 1280x1024.
2. Shifting between views with F4 - B - U give "random" views, looking skyhigh/diff. direction. It's almost like the keyboard gets hijacked?
3. And finally the night... Too dark for my pleasure, in TGW1.1 I used 16km light and it was perfect. Can it be installed in GWX?

Otherwise running fine here. Great stuff so far (and what a stunning manual!)

Ocean floor textures have been reduced from 4096 to 512 as far as i can se so that wouldnt have any impact now to lower framrate.

I was very impressed with my first mission in GWX, in 42' ( South Atlantic ), the traffic, other subs. The warship behavior was unrelenting, so much that they got me, so I didn't survive.

My next was in 44', Penang, OAfrika, or something like that, when I got there I noticed that on my Patrol Orders this was not recognized, also I did not encounter many ships, not like in the Atlantic. But...., this was my first patrol not in the Atlantic Ocean.

Overall very impressed with GWX.

Having these issues in GWX but not in my other SHIII install.

1. Mouse wheel won't zoom in or out on Nav map or TDC.

2. Can't drag the map to move it around plotting a course. It jumps back to centerview as soon as I click and hold.

3. Keyboard's arrow keys won't move views up, down or sideways.

Was keyboard and mouse config changed in anyway by GWX? I've done no changes.

If you read the manual ;) or the F1 key in-game help sections we've added, you will find that anything outside of the Kriegsmarine Grid system is not recognized in some ways by the SH3 engine. You will get renown for sinking ships and for returning to base... you will not get renown for reaching a patrol zone (as we have mapped out on your F5 screen.)

We would have loved to fix this issue, but the KM grid system is hard-coded. We decided to not let this matter limit us or players.

1. This is a problem standard to mostr variants of the 16 Km mod. It is lessened when you play at 1024x768 resolution. I recommend 1024x768 resolution for all players.

2. The 16 km visibility mod that comes with GWX IS the "Light" version of the same. We did away with the 16 km atmosphere "dark" version.

3. The darkness of the night in SH3 is PLAYER MONITOR DEPENDANT. You can try adjusting your settings to allieviate the problem... however with some monitors... no ammount of adjusting will fix the problem.

4. Sometimes... playing SH3 means that ALL of us (myself included) are forced to tolerate a quirk or two. We can fix a lot of things... we'll never be able to fix everything.

Sorry my answers weren't more favorable for you. :-?

I guess this is similar to what someone else mentioned before in this thread.
I got a clean install of SHIII, patched to 1.4, updated SH3commander 7 with the new .CFG files. But when i try to set up a patrol in Asia, this occurs:
http://img309.imageshack.us/img309/5391/errorxxpt0.jpg
I doesnt happen when i started SHIII from the desktop icon, only when i use the commander. After i got this, i cant start SHIII (from icon or commander) with the Asia bases as an option (Penang/Jakarta).
What have i done wrong, mateys...?

I didn't delete the SHIII folder in My Docs, just renamed it to match my other install of SHIII. But I now see no new SHIII folder has been created. I had to redo my 2nd SHIII and GWX install, but before that I did have 2 separate SHIII folders. One for GWX and one for my SHIII-Vanilla.

The only mods I've installed in GWX are:
No Medals on Crew
Late War Snorkel and Antennas
English Nav map
Seafloor SF v2

One of my favourite bugs is back: when i was going to get ready to start a patrol leaving Kiel, I suddenly was in the middle of nowere, at the exact postition where the red line is meeting the blue one.

Did you fail to delete or rename your "SH3" folder in "My Documents?"

If you are trying to run an old career these kind of strange things happen. I have tested each year of availability for the Kiel player U-boat base. The problem you describe is not related to GWX.

have you installed any other mods?

Put in the same folder as all your GWX files ( bins and exe )

Run the MD5 exe
When the program opens - click the centre tab " Compare from MD5 file "

Press " Select MD5 file " and browse to the one you have just D\L

And the program will run - if all parts are ok they will have a green tick next to them
If a part is corrup it will have a red cross

Hi!

Is the behavior of the U-boat real (in GWX) when with the stopped machines and running depth to maintain to the same depth?

I was thinking that to speeds of 0 knots I will slowly sink at the rates listed below. At speeds of 1 knot I can maintain depth but not change to a lesser depth. To change depth I needed speeds of 2+ knots.

Sink rates per 10 metres at 0 knots is IIa = 12 minutes; IId = 15 minutes; VII = 16 minutes and the IX = 21 minutes.

Can someone help me?

Thank you.

I like your GWX Dev Team sig... strange that I didn't see you at any of the meetings though... are you a rather short guy? ;)

Regarding your question: The Real Life U-boat Behavior Mod in GWX reflects POSITIVE bouyancy... not negative. Your boat should RISE a bit when at full-stop... UP is where the air is... and generally U-boats were kept at a slightly positive trim as a safety measure. Therefore, you are confusing our mod with someone else's mod. No worries though... there's lots to remember.

Hi not sure if this is a problem or if I have missed something.

After returning from my sith patrol in March 1940 I thought I would see if I could transfer to one of the other flottillas. When I hit the request transfer button I got, Crew transfered to Null, and the game froze, I had to reboot the whole PC to get things going again.

I remember a problem like this ages ago and am wondering if it has returned

Downloaded GWX and made my first patrol. Fantastic mod!!

Only issue came when the patrol was ended. I got my renoun for my patrol but no tonnage credit at all. also, there were no medals for the crew, but I got promoted.

I added the 16k mod and some of the others that came with GWX. I also made a change to a config file to get more renoun for getting too and patroling my patrol zone.I made this change in GW 1.1a with no problem. It does not look like any renoun for the ships sunk.

Anyone else with this problem?:gulp:

Torpedo firing button. I dont remember reading this in the manual as a new feature but, last night I was playing a single mission from the GWX, Operation Drumbeat. I came across a small merchant, it was dark so I decided on a surface attack, when I got in range I tried firing a torpedo using the uzo and clicked on the fire button, but nothing happened. The door was open but nothing came out, so I had to yell down to the control room and ask the 1WO to fire, and then it came out. Is this part of a sabatage mod or is it a new feature. Thanks

No, infact I wish you could hear the new sound of the Deck Gun, there is a cool echo.

My question is, would HEAD mods cause GWX to CTD just before Intializing screen. It happens about 65% through the Map Screen.

Ignore my previous post, I figured that out.

I do have another problem--I neglected to run through the training missions. I could just do them, but I'm sure that to get my 1000 extra prestige, there's just a file somewhere I need to edit. Where is that file, and what do I have to do to convince the game I passed all the exams? I'm just looking for a shortcut, as I don't feel like going through the missions again.

First and only issue, but big and annoying one--I got a CTD when in the navmap view. I read at least one or two other people who experienced the same while in the navmap. I loaded a save in a patrol when I was hunting a small convoy off the coast of North Africa. The game has run flawlessly up until this point. I played my saved career game for quite a while (number of hours), then out of the blue right after I go to the navmap, get the ruler and zoom in to plot target track, I get a BSOD followed by a CTD (SHIII encountered problem and needs to close, bla bla bla).

Here's my specs:

Uboot skin, custom sounds.
-clean SH3 1.4b with GWX

I'm liking GWX a lot..only just started a new campaign so haven't really had a chance to bash it out fully yet, but I did spot one small oversight in the museum. There's a Japanese Arado in the German aircraft folder.

Easy to fix of course. I just took the
'LBSArado_Jap.cfg' file from 'data\Roster\German\Air' and placed it in the 'data\Roster\Japan\Air' folder.

I also wanted to ask about the Canadian Fuji class. As far as I'm aware, Canadas only Fuji class during WW2 was HMCS Uganda which had the 3x main gun arrangement with AA defense replacing turret #3. I was greatly pleased to see that this arrangement was correctly adhered to in the previous GW version but GWX seems to have gone back to the inaccurate 4-gun turret model for Canadas Fuji.

That aside, I'm very much in love with GWX and I understand you guys put in a great many hours and sleepless nights putting the package together...I hate myself for bringing up these minor details, but thought I should perhaps mention it in case it had slipped anyone elses attention.

Agrippa, if you start a career without running the Naval Academy Training you still 1500 for renoun when you start your career.

From what I've seen in doing the Training you only get 1500 anyway. I had excellent in all the Training missions when I finished in another career without GWX, and still only got 1500.

I'm going to install Anvart's HaloNotVisibleThroughBody mod and see what happens. I've checked and it's not in GWX. Should work ok as it's just a s simple 2 file Body 01 and 2 dat mod.

I searched this thread for it (by means of Firefox looking for "land"), but didn't find it, so here goes.

I noticed some German harbours such as Moltenort on land, close enough for the player to dock at them. I think this is a bad idea as it'll inevitably lead to players docking at them and ending up on land at the beginning of their next patrol.

Its not a harbour but a naval base
The same as all towns\cities on the map

Unfortunately yes Moltenort is close to the sea so can be docked at
Nearly did my self in GW1.1

Using a naval base to simulate the towns\cities is the only way to get them to change colour through the war

Knowing what could happen, I'm pretty careful about panning around in the Nav Map any more. I suggest you slow down a bit while scrolling around there. I think your computer just freaks out basically and can't keep up, so to speak, when you move around too fast. :88)

The pulldown stopwatch only works when the game one does
The only difference is you can watch it in any screen even external

I have no sound when guns are fired or when torps are launched.anyone else having this problem?

I have this same exact problem. Any ideas? There must be a reason based on GWX, because with GW1.1a and every other mod I have used I have had sound.

Only mods I am currently using are GWX and included optional mods.

Same issue with a twist. First install of GWX went flawless. Played the Academy, got my renown and went to bed. Next day, loaded up and started a patrol only to discover that crew speech, guns, and torp sounds were all gone. So I did a complete wipe of SHIII again and fresh installs.

After the second fresh install of GWX, there was no speech and no effects sounds. So I did a third wipe/install and it came back until I saved after my first patrol and exited the game. Started the game up again the next day and same sound issues. :hmm:

Also, doing a file compare, I consitently get this:
http://img270.imageshack.us/img270/7207/md5ua3.jpg

No matter what mirror site I get the .exe from, I get the red X. Also, what's with the other "files" that have the red X? The only things in that folder are the 5 .bins, the .exe and the MD5 file.

Spot on, Wooly. The hash file I downloaded was messed up. Individual checks of each file came back clean. Thanks for pointing me to the hash strings, by the way. When I read to get the download info, I didn't know what those were, so I ignored them. :p Now I know and have them permanently stored.

As for my loss of sound issues, do you know if any of your beta testers use Realtek AC 97 onboard audio? Given the lack of this particular issue and clean MD5 checks, I should assume it's on my end, I guess. It's just weird that they work and then don't when I start the game up again.

Try using lower TC when you approach the area... sudden loads on some sytems cause CTD's following a freeze if a lot of things are spawning/rendering in 3D all at once.

Try that a couple of times and we will make a note of your report.

Ok here comes my second issue with GWX: I reloaded my save and so far have not had another CTD in the navmap--hopefully that was a one time thing. But now, I was chasing that same 4 ship convoy off the coast of France in CG24 (date is Sept 1941), and was evading their escort (one as far as I can tell- a town class destroyer). I was doing fine at over 2-3km away on silent running at PD. He was at my stern depth charging away at where he last saw me. All of the sudden I hear my crew cheering like we just sunk a ship, but I didn't push the fire button. So I check my peri and scan to the destroyer to see a huge forest of flames trailing behind it. It resembled what looked like an oil spill and explosion. The destroyer itself was not on fire, just a trail of fire behind it and what looked like oil in the water. My guess is that somehow it Depth charged itself. Did town class DD have depth charge malfunctions historically and is this modded in GWX? Or is this a bug? Anyway, now the escort's out of the way, so I guess I really can't complain.....hehe

I am using:
sh3cmdr 2.7 with xtra files.
clean sh3 1.4b with GWX
jsgme English navmap and grid
Das boot clothes
custom sounds
simfeeling and 6dials with tdc slideout
custom commands_en file
other graphics mods which i dont think affect this issue

another quick question if I may--I have inserted my commands_en file with hotkeys that I assigned using the GW 1.1a commands_en file--Am I breaking anything in GWX by doing this? I didnt think it would matter since the file just deals with hotkeys and commands, but wanted to check.

REMINDER TO EVERYONE

If you get the above results when doing the MD5Compare then you have d/l the corrupt version of GWX.md5. I have asked the Kpt to remove it from the release thread. Only the links available via the GWX webpage contain the CORRECT version of the file.

Now, having said that, if you do get the above screen, then your d/l files are not corrupt.

Kpt, can you pls remove all links to the corrupt version and replace with the correct links (from our webpage)?

A temp cure for this is to empty ballast at the surface. This might fix your trimming problem at very high seas.

The map pencil graphic cross hair is a couple of pixels above from the point where the pencil is going to draw the X.

That is, if you very carefully line up the tiny little crosshair on something like an intersection on the map, or the end of a sonar contact line, and click, the X laid down is NOT under the cross hair. The newly drawn X is 2 or three pixels above the cross hair of the pencil graphic.

Not a major problem, but if it's easy to fix, it would be nice.

Dont know if this have been adressed or if its a bug whitin GWX or even the Sh3Cmdr.

At the loadout screen for torpedo. If i choose to fill my sub whit T2 torpedoes (there is aviable amount to swap)

Then when i start a patrol and check the torpedo loadout it have been randomized and NOT as i selected. It mix whit most T1 torpedoe and just a few T2.

One patrol it had even swaped out all my torps for T1.

Any cure for this behaviour?

Wasn't sure where to put this one, with a small list of possible GWX issues, or they may be stock bugs. Just started out on my second patrol having been assigned the same square as in my first patrol (BF 15). I thought nothing of it at first thinking it might just be a transient bug or somesuch. However, part way out I was given a radio report of a British task force in BF13 just as in my first patrol, a short time later I also encountered the same Clemson class destroyer. Too much coincindence I thought. Even if I am a little slow to catch on sometimes :88) I will continue for a while further and see if the same convoy appears entering the irish sea below Cornwall. In the first patrol I lost one crew member whom I burried at sea, however in the patrol logs it says no crew dead or wounded. And I am still getting the news from 1939 on the loading screen.
I know I can alter the patrol grid in SHIII Commander, but if this is a fault in my game installation I would rather address it by a re-installing than have it confuse things later. When I downloaded GWX I used the tool to verify the downloads and they all checked out fine. My first inclination is to go for a re-install, but I want to avoid that if these issues can be fixed by other means. Anyone have any similar experiences?

Not without a load of work. We'd have to do it for around 200 units present in GWX including aircraft and AI subs.

The grey cons in GWX are meant to require visual identification prior to engagement... and to remove the cheesy element of automatic threat identification.

The optic magnifications on your U-boat's UZO, periscopes, and binoculars have been increased to account for the fact that the visual accuity of the human eye is better than the quality of your monitor, to assist you in unit identification... as well as information present in your F1 help screen and the map sheet drag-down in your F3 screen.

Hi everyone,
First I would like to say thanks to the GWX team for producing an awesome mod! I was really looking forward to enjoying playing it, but unfortunately I have been suffering constant CTDs, mainly on the map screen. I have read the other threads and have seen that others have experienced the same problems. I had no problems playing GW 1.1a which was very stable, and ran like a charm on my PC for many months, but now that I have installed GWX I have yet to complete a patrol due to the CTD issue. I have tried reducing the graphical toll by turning down the graphic settings, and I have installed the Lite Harbor Traffic Mod to see if that helps, and so far I am still consistently getting these crashes. I have checked all of my bin files and exe and have confirmed that I have a good install. I have even reinstalled GWX to see if that helps. Nada... I am pretty sure it wouldnt have anything to do with SH3 Commander 2.7, which I also use (with GWX config files). I dont seem to have a reduced frame rate but I suppose it might be possible that my PC cant handle the additions that GWX adds. Hopefully someone might have a suggestion/fix so I can get up and running again and sink something! Thanks mates.

Just a thought, run GWX without SH3 commander and see if it persists. If the CTD is gone, then I would suspect SH3 is creating the issue. Go on from there.

HI and thanks for taking this up,
As far as I remember I clicked on the phone Icon, the transfer screen opens, I clicked on the flotilla I wanted to join, there were only two choices as it was still early in the war. When I clicked on the chosen transfer the Tansfered to Null message came up and you know the rest.

I seem to remember getting that myself a while ago
I know it sounds simple but did you choose a flotilla to transfer to and then on the phone to apply for that transfer ?

This is not an issue but a guestion on Radio Messages. I'm seeing alot of Uboats requesting escort to base and message that escort is in position. Nice touch btw. I'm wondering if it's possible... not now but down the road maybe... to do the same with player's Uboat and actually see an escort arrive and escort player back to base. I imagine the request is due to damaage and the Uboat is unable to defend it's self, is out of fuel or damaged and needs a tow.

Could this be possible? If not no problem, but it sure is different and quite nice to see the invisible friendlies having problems and needing help.

As a manual targeting kinda guy, I really miss the slide out TDC mod that appears in NYGM 2.2.....any chance it could be added or is there a reason why not ? I ask because i'd be happy to add it myself if its compatible.

I imported it during beta, i just didnt tell anyone. First version had a little rendering quirk with the draggable stopwatch (truncated edges), but ive since fixed that. I'll upload that with a few extra's tonight when i get home from work.

Ill warn any users ahead of time, do not expect any support from the GWX team or NYGM on this mod. Infact if you have issues with your GWX, the first thing they'll ask you is if you have any other mods enabled, and if so, it makes troubleshooting a bit harder for them. Having said that, ive used it in both beta and the release version, and it has worked flawlessly for me.

There is no fatigue above 32x (64 and up). In Commander, if you want to keep the current GWX fatigue, you would keep box unchecked, if you want another option like 'No Fatigue', then you would check the box and select accordingly.

Do you mean this?

If so have you altered any of the TC settings in SH3 Cmdr?

Edit - Although GWX comes with the 8hr fatigue model, try selecting the 8hr model from SH3Cmdr and see if there is any change. They are both the same (IIRC). I suspect that it is actually TC related.

Congrats to all the GWX Dev Team and Beta Testers. An incredible achievment which puts Ubisoft to shame.

One gripe remains: The Blankety Blank weather. Just finished another patrol with 5 days of 300 yard visibility. Lots of targets. No visibility. For me this is the single biggest drawback to SH3 which I have been playing since first publication. I am convinced that Ubi found the game too easy at some point and the weather was an easy "fix".

Call it a wish, but if it were possible to reset the weather in any reasonable fashion, I would applaud.

BTW I have tried every mod I could find and tried the pulishers edit fix, and nothing seems to correct this aberration.

The irregularity of weather should be better with GWX, but if you want you can try this weather mod. Just copy the file into your Ubisoft/Silent Hunter III folder. Then if you have 'SH3 Commander installed, it will run the weather mod for you.

I thought about it but I'm just a simple guy and like running it with just GWX. I have Sobers water mod because it is really cool. Other than that, one career at a time for me and the fatigue does not drive me nuts. What I'm trying to do is work my crew and build their endurance as the war progresses. Don't know if it's GWX related or stock but first time I notice it so obvious...
Am driving a VIIb in the Med. Whenever I pan view when on the deck, the front of the sub is disaligned from the center (UZO) Like if I go right, the front of boat goes left from the UZO. If I pan 180° right, then come back front, it's OK. If I pan 360°, then the front part stays on one side. Just need to switch to another view and back and it's aligned again... Next time I shoot up my NYGM career will have a closer look as well, as I am also in a VIIb around the UK...
Just for info, really no big deal...;)

I have a issue with the Gato Class sub. Although its great you have added subs. But the Gato and Balo calss look exactly the same(coning tower wise) The Balo is Ok. But I expected the Gato to look like the Wahoo/Barb ect. Also the paint is wrong.

Disagree. The paint is right colour-wise and the look of some modified Gatos was very close to Balao.

Well thats my opion on the paint. I think black would do better.

But this is a typical late war Gato conning tower.

To Cpt. Stewker and bh32,

Since you guys seemed to have an issue with sound similar to mine, I want to let you two know that I may (and stress may) have a fix. On my 4th complete wipe and install of SHIII, 1.4 patch and GWX, I made sure I individually checked all GWX downloads with the hash strings posted on the release thread. When they all came back clean, I did the install. Next, I set all sounds to 0 dB and turned music off.

During my first patrol, things seemed fine until I was about an hour into it. Then some sounds started skipping like a CD with a scratch. I hunted down the file that is the source of the skipping sounds and removed it.

Look in SHIII\data\Sound for amb_SubmarineInterior. It's a 10 1/2 minute long (and presumably looping) file. It seemed like my system was struggling to keep its place in this file with all of the other sound demands. Without the file, things seem to be working ok on my machine. I really liked the ambient noises, but I'll do without them if it makes my gun bark like it should. :)

Since I cannot guarantee that this will work for you, if you remove this file from the sound folder, don't just delete it. Store it in a safe place in case you have to put it back for any reason.

1) The BDu message dated 1939/11/23, that has to do with tanker warfare in the American zone, mispells, "remain" as "reamin".

2) The mssage dated 1939/11/29 about the English channel is cut off after "English", and the remainder of the message, (including the word "channel") is missing.

For the anal-retentive among us (is that a dash or a hypen in anal-retentive?):

1) The BDu message dated 1939/11/23, that has to do with tanker warfare in the American zone, mispells, "remain" as "reamin".

2) The mssage dated 1939/11/29 about the English channel is cut off after "English", and the remainder of the message, (including the word "channel") is missing.

 Oh dear...Oh dear....nothing like creating a good impression early on in ones career/membership :nope:

In Flotilla News I or II, it says "Japanese occupied" instead of "Japanese-occupied".

This post and SleazyWombat's input gave me a funny picture in my head featuring an angry reply back to BdU from a submarine telling him to learn how to spell.

Ok, I had no probs doing Beta Testing. But unfortunately after 4 tries in downloading all files, The MD5 Compare still advises me that none of the bin files match.

All bin files have failed against the MD5 file

What on earth am I doing wrong :-?

Thanks mates to point these mispelling errors.
The messages files uses the old Radiolog proofread messages mod since Rub. This file have hundreds of messages and alot of mispelling and others bugs too. We are now seeing then more frequently because I fix a lot of engine errors on the original GW messages files that break alot of messages. Then, now we really will see the messages. Some of them were already corrected for the good english but others not. Please continue to point them. We will release a final corrected version on the Jan 31 first official cumulative patch for GWX.

Rubini.

OT: download and install the new Hot FIx: it's really fix a lot of small flaws on the release version.

Have all the files in one folder
Open the MD5 compare
Click the middle tab " Compare from MD5 file "

in 1, point towards the MD5 file thats in this D\L

Just encountered a Pyro Ammunition Ship flying the American flag with 4 manned gun platforms floating above the deck. Unfortunately it was July 41 which made it Neutral but to add to the floating gun platforms, why would they have a Pyro Ammo Ship and Guns if they were Neutral .. just a detail I know but still a :hmm:

Did you use a download manager in filefront ??

I used getright for download GWX files with my 56k dial up connection, but files don´t have the correct name, first i though that 2 parts were corrupted or broken :damn: , for example part 3 ,GWX-1.bin in the manager says X6 file, but i renamed the files until MD5 compare says that the file is Ok.

check your files names, and see if are correct.

I am not sure if I should post here or if this has been reported already, but after the patch I see the following issues/bugs in GWX:

1. - one of the old looking Passenger Liners has a messy looking deck texture

2. - Ore Carrier - also an UVW mapping issue with the deck texture

3. - in Museum under Germans, I see two Arado planes - one with correct German markings, the other one with Japanese. Is that ok?

4. - Hawker Hurricane is the old stock model with new texture. Any plans to use sergbuto's new Hurricane model?

5. - Ehm, I see some sort of "hip hop musicians" in Mosquito cockpits. Is that an Easter Egg?

Just a FYI.

Never noticed this in any other versions before GWX.

In the Convoy Attack Training Mission after firing my first salvo of torpedoes, the Armed Trawler opens fire on and usually sinks the Hunt DD. Glad for the help, but a little wierd. Looked at the .SCR file for it and don't see anything odd, but I'm not very versed in the editor yet. On the other hand this is the first time the excort actually searched and dropped depth charges during this mission, usually they just went along their way fat, dumb and happy as I sank the merchants.

Having a blast with GWX, SH3 is a whole new game now. Great job guys!!

2. - Ore Carrier - also an UVW mapping issue with the deck texture - same as above

3. - in Museum under Germans, I see two Arado planes - one with correct German markings, the other one with Japanese. Is that ok? - Yes as Pants has said its right - Read the manual -

The Arado Ar-196 floatplane in GWX

The Ar-196 conducts air patrols from large German air bases, and from German capital ships. The Ar-

196 based in Penang after the submarine USS
Tarpon sank their ship, the hilfskreuzer (“auxiliary

cruiser”)
Michel on October 17, 1943, use Japanese markings as they did historically.

4. - Hawker Hurricane is the old stock model with new texture. Any plans to use sergbuto's new Hurricane model? - Both the old and new Hurricanes are ingame

5. - Ehm, I see some sort of "hip hop musicians" in Mosquito cockpits. Is that an Easter Egg? - If it is it came with Sergs mod - not seen it myself

1. - one of the old looking Passenger Liners has a messy looking deck texture

2. - Ore Carrier - also an UVW mapping issue with the deck texture

These errors were caused by incorrect deck textures, and in the case of the Ore Carrier, the wrong .dat file. These issues should be fixed by the hotfix which Kpt Lehmann has just released.

Yes indeed, the coding to discourage you from firing on friendlies or neutrals does so by automatically changing your status to 'Enemy', so for a period your own people (or the neutrals) will attack you. The downside is that it works exactly the same for them. If a British destroyer accidentally shoots a friend of his the game will switch him to 'Enemy' and his buddies will all attack him. Dumb, ain't it?

...shouldn't Färöe Island have the same colour as Denmark?...Well, I was almost right. Perhaps a flashback from years in school?
Anyway, as you've shown pride of being historic correct, here's a very short summary of Faoerne Islands during WWII...

-------------
Despite the "non-attack" treaty with Germany, Denmark was occupied april 9th 1940 together with Norway. The Faoerne Islands were occupied by England april 12th 1940, as the british wanted to prevent the germans using it as a north atlantic base. England overtook the responsibilities that Denmark previously had, and the islands became totally dependant of England, who supplied the islands with necessary goods as well as buying it's products. Largest number of occupation troops was 8000, but by spring 1944 most were gone again*). The british occupation lasted until september 1945, where Faoerne returned to danish government.
The islands were partly fortified and straits and fjords were mined. An airfield was based on Vågø. Faoerne were attacked several times by german aircraft, but with limited damage. But the faoerne ships had heavy losses with 25 ships lost together with 132 sailors.
-------------

Hope you see this as a contribution, rather than criticism.
Jan.

*) On a footnote: a number of women were married to british troops and a number of children were the result of the fraternizing between the british and faoerne women.

A search for this word brought no results so I hope it hasn't been posted already.

Just a minor typo:

On the map which shows harbours with their minefields and subnets to the right it should say Kriegsmarine, not Kreigsmarine.

Not sure if this is a bug or some product of the way the game processes objecs. On two occasion, I have been under depth charge attack by three escorts, corvets and destroyers. When I have saved the game at that point and reloaded later, one of the attacking escorts has completely disappeared and the other two have lost track of my boat. The first time I was re-acquired, the second, one of the remaining destroyers was returning to it's possition arround the convoy leaving only one corvet in a rough sea which I easily lost.

It's ironic as this is a Sub Sim but NEVER save while submerged. Very weird things happen. You have experienced one bug due to this, the other include the crash dive of doom and corrupted saves.

For clarity, this is a Stock Issue.

Also it is not advisable to save near convoys, harbours or sinking ships, and during combat. Usually I only save on the surface in the open ocean.

I think this is a common issue with SH3. You cannot dock to a port that doesn't have a flotilla assign to it. You can dock only to actual bases and milk cows.

One docked at a town
And the other at a port in the med and started on land

Mel is right in that is only safe to dock at ports with uboat flotillas assigned
However since the second episode I have changed all friendly bases to have the facility to dock at and start in the water

I've noticed that time compression is extremely slowed down, so much that going on patrol is far less fun than it was before. My machine, a P4 3.4 GhZ with a gig of RAM, /crawls/ past 512. Vanilla SHIII is smooth as silk. I never get the slightest slowdown ever, even in the middle of convoys. Is there any tweak that can be done?

Not sure if this is GWX related. My friend and I have both experienced rain and lightning on a clear day with GWX install. It will be clear, sunny, and calm seas and yet it will rain, thunder, and lightning (flashes). There is also sound effects of a strong storm yet the weather reports calm weather. As you can see there isn't a cloud in the sky, the wind and water allows me to go on deckguns, and the sun is out in the open just over the reflection in the water.
