Default Smaller Flags

Moin,

Since the stock flags are way too big I´m trying to attach a smaller flag to my boat. Therefore I´ve cloned the FlagS.dat to FlagX.dat and started reworking it. I´ve changed the referencing node cfg#FLS to cfg#FLX in the myship.dat. But no flag showed up ingame. Does anybody know wether there is another trigger that I might have missed?

Regards,
DD

The flags have been made on purpose so that it would be possible to determine the nationality of the vessel from a reasonable distance.

I know. But, as you can see, the stock flag is way too big. It´s bigger in height than the crewman.

And this is the "small" flag though. Since the boat is meant to populate the harbours and coastal waters the recognition of the nationality over great distances is of minor interest in this case.

And please, Sergbuto, don´t take this as offense, I admire your work.

Regards,
DivingDuck

Just a thought DD if its only going to be in harbours the make it a type=100 so it doesnt show anywhere else and maybe remove the flag node completely
It wont need one in its own port will it

I agree with bigboywooly: the speedboats (and the sailing fishing boats as well) don't really need flags at all.

What offense? You are as free to mod what you wish in the game as I am. It is just in my opinion there is no point in having flag at all if it is made smaller. I agree with bigboywooly's advise.

Do not forget, that to reduce flag, you is necessary will not only reduce flag
geometry, but also accordingly to rewrite animation of a flag.

Moin,

okay guys, you´ve persuaded me. I´ll skip the flag. Which brings me back to my still persisting "halo"-problem.

@Anvart:
Your approach did not lead to success till now. I must be missing a small detail. It drives me crazy.

@Sergbuto:
There have been some guys around that felt offended when contradicting. So, never mind. I´m glad you don´t.

Regards,
DivingDuck

About what you?
I do not understand.
Your failure that FLG, FLS, _FLG, _FLS, _FLGC, flag and flagS are hardcoded in sh3.exe.

Moin,

@Anvart:

As BBW assumed I´m still puzzled about the halo problem. You said I should use a LookAt Controller. But when creating the 3d mesh plane I need a target to look at. That should be the light I guess. Does that mean I shall save the light and the flat square as one object?
I´m missing the wood for the trees presently. And since I´ve bothered you enough already you don´t have to answer. I´ll continue testing until I´ve got the point or my brain has turned into hot air.

DivingDuck
