Anvert, I just want to thank you for the amazing work you are doing with the lighting of neutral ships. I have hoped for this ever since SHIII was released and thought it was not possible to achieve. I encountered my first Lighted ship (Hospital SHip) last night and it was the most beautiful sight. Truely wonderful thanks again, I'm looking forward to other releases

I don't understand this "Copy contents of my file EnglishNames.cfg to your files ...Names.cfg." Can someone please show me how to install this mod.

Thanks!

Don't we get a night shot? Please!

It makes the tug look bigger, making all those windows more clear. Anyone else have that impression?

Hi Anvart,

good job with the lights for a tug boat.

Is it able to add those lights for all neutral ships and hospital too?
Would be a great help to aknovledge them.

Bet regards

Hi messenger43,
It baffled me for a bit too as I'm not very computer savvy but eventually I worked it out. I shall try to explain the way I do it in very plain English:
First, unpack the contents of the mod to a new folder called something like "NLTF Lights mod". Open the "data" folder, then open the "sea" folder. You will see a file called "EnglishNames.cfg". Open Windows Notepad and drag the "EnglishNames" file into the window. You will then see the contents of the file, in this case:
[Names]
LTgBoat=Tug Boat L
Then go to your SH3 installation and open data/then Sea folder. You will see another "EnglishNames.cfg" file, which is the games original one. (BEFORE MAKING ANY CHANGES, make a backup copy of it; I do this by making a new folder called "Old Files" and copy/paste the original into it.) Open this one with notepad and add the line from the mod file, that is, add:
LTgBoat=Tug Boat L
Click on file/save then close it.
Copy and paste the other folder(s) as instructed in the "read me".
Hope that helps.
Henry

Open your english names cfg in the sea folder
Mines looks like this

NDD_SU1=Sowj.-Type Dserschinski
NYALTgBoat=Tug Boat LM=Depot Ship
AMM=Pyro Ammunition Freighter
LLS=C2 Cargo L
BBHood=Battlecruiser Hood

Copy the line

LTgBoat=Tug Boat L - from the downloaded english names cfg and paste to yours

Mine now looks like

NDD_SU1=Sowj.-Type Dserschinski
NYAM=Depot Ship
AMM=Pyro Ammunition Freighter
LLS=C2 Cargo L
BBHood=Battlecruiser Hood
LTgBoat=Tug Boat L

Save and exit

To KarlSteiner

Default Tug Boat lights and other ships

Great job on the ships with lights they look awesome and i cant wait to download them and ty them out. Before the ships with lights you were trying to do Submarines with running lights. I was wondering how that turned out and if anyone has managed to get running lights on the submarines.

Also is there a way that you could explain how you are making the lights on the ships work. Is it simply a texture that is being switched or does it need to be modeled in the 3d model of the ship itself.

I was only wondering how this was done so i could play around with it myself. Also the screenshots of the submarines in the original post were not "USER" control they were only AI, correct?

Has there been any luck in adding lights to the player controled submarines that may be toggled on and off in friendly water. I dont believe this has been done yet and would be a added bonus if it could be modeled. Changing some of the lighting effects on the inside of the submarines would be nice to if it were possible.

Just a couple sujections or things to look into but if you had the time i would love to know how you are changing the textures to have lights on.

Thanks
William

Its a bit more work than toggling them on and off and its either on - or off
Thats why there are now 2 C2s and 2 tugs as well as liners and hosp ships

As for interior lighting check out some of donuts76 work such as this
