Default Help ! ... My crew have gone mute

Ok, since this is really begining to annoy me

Started a new career yesterday with SHCmdr and when i started of in port my entire crew was unable to mutter even the simplest phrase. After this i went back to an old campaign and once again no word was spoken. Even in the training/single missions the same happens...

I have not changed a single thing within the game or on my computer and i have been playing it, tweaked to my likings, without this problems for ages....

This problem just popped up and i have no clue on how it started or even how to begin repairing it

Has someone else experienced this too or perhaps someone who has more knowledge about these sounds and all related workings with them in SHIII can lend a hand ?

If uninstalling is going to be my only hope it will be a big disappointment So if you have any clue, please let me know.

Interesting little tidbit from the SH3 Commander FAQ file:

Q: Since using SH3 Commander I can no longer hear speech or most sound effects. What sound files does SH3 Commander overwrite?
A: SH3 Commander does not overwrite any game sound files. This problem will occur if you set the "Character animations", "Sound effects" and/or "Particle rendering" Time Compression events to 1. Reset each event back to the default value and try again (a Rollback is not sufficient to reset these settings). If your problem persists, scrutinise any new mods that you have installed since you last had full sound.

There is also a Help file included with Commander. All kinds of interesting answers to questions in there.

Thanks for your reply & how i wish this could solve my problem but no...

I have all sound effects, just no speech. I did however check up on your suggestion but to no avail.

As mentioned before, i have not changed anything in my pc or game set-up. This **** problem just stuck up it's ugly head and i can't seem to get mine around it . I can not understand this.

I'm really lost here. Am i facing some corrupt file thingy ? Has anyone else experiences this ?

I regularly have this problem. Usually after a few alt+tab's...or any other application in the background triyn' to use the audio card. This is just something i observed on my own skin. When this happens...I reinstall everything....

If anyone esle has a solution besides my ugly reinstalling everything...I would also appreciate it.

Try turning the Hardware Acceleration down on your soundcard and see whether that helps.
