Default Snorkel question

Hi , I had a question about the snorkel on my uboat. I'm on Fortress Europe map and have a snorkel, I sunk to snorkel depth on my way to the English channel but found my batteries are still in use. Doesen't the snorkel attach to the diesel engines? I thought the idea of the snorkel was so that you could run your engines wile being submerged. Anyway I ran low on battery power and had to surface and was greeted by an allied bomber who sunk me

Thks JTP :hmm:

After you rase the snorkel you need to turn on the diesels. There is a box with four lights (two red and two green) press the two red ones to fire up the diesels and press the green ones if you need to charge the battries.
