Default Sudden damage??!!

So me and my sub are heading home after 12 ships sunk, when we see a plane incoming, we go to battlestations and I save the game just before the betty attacks us and have a break. About 20 mins later I load the game and suddenly I'm spinning out of control and hear "We have flooding, sir!" " Batteries damaged sir!" etc with EVERY item. Flooding in every compartment, everything has been damaged. And to cut a long story short, the sub is now home to fishes under sea. And I'm wondering what just happened. The betty was more than 5000m away and didn't drop any bombs from that distance, there were no other ships in the area and every time I load the game, the same things happen.
Is there any thoughts on this? Thanks

when you save underwater, the ship shakes when it respawns and it can "vibrate" (don't know how else to describe it) and move as much as 50 ft or more up and down and side to side like a salt shaker as it spawns looking for the correct depth position.

add to this, the respawn location can and will vary as well so if you save in port or near land you can spawn inside something or on land and be destroyed.

long story short, if you save underwater anywhere near land or water less then 150ft deep then there is a good chance you will spawn with damage or even be damaged enough to sink.

I was on the surface at the time, but I'm still scratching my head as to what and why?

I've never had anything like that happen.

well saving with objects in the area can cause CTD on start up but not cause a death by damage condition but maybe it screwed something up or maybe while the game was in the process of saving things, the plane managed to bomb you while you were "frozen" in lace as it were.

I agree, it is strange what happened to you
