Default GWX Gold with widescreen GUI

I am going to try installing GWX Gold after years away from it, but I wish to run it in widescreen like I have done successfully with LSH2015.

I am sure I will be able to get GWX installed again, but I am not sure how I will go about getting it to run in the same resolution as LSH2015. Any advice before I try would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Blitzkrieg, message received. To quote Homer Simpson, "D'oh!"

Hi K-61,

i'm sorry to jump in this diskussion. But when you are searching a realy good WS-Mod, i recommend to use Makmann94 MaGui-Mod. It is for all so called "Super-Mods" and is running fine. You can find it on his MediaFire- Site or on Maik's FTP-Server - and perhaps here on subsim.

Greetings

Here's a link to copy Makmann94's Widescreen Magui from my public Dropbox folder. Notice there are 3. One is for GWX and Stock SH3, and 1 is a GWX v3 fix. One for Widescreen Optics. These are from his Media Fire files.

Thanks for the links, guys.

I have pretty much come to the point where I have almost "mastered" the game. By that, I mean that I have a well developed package of tactics and strategy and attack and evasion methods, as well as a well-honed instinct for intercepting convoys and finding good hunting zones. The only way up from here for me in terms of challenge is to make the switch to manual targeting. I've had a few private correspondences with members and they suggest I learn the manual targeting method.

Up to now I have been "simulating" that I have been doing it; charting courses, making numerous observations and firing multiple torpedoes at certain targets, and other compensations to simulate the real life uncertainty a captain would feel. I have very much enjoyed the torpedo model in the h.sie patch, so that even full auto targeting is now no longer certain, and less so as range to target increases.

But now, it really is time for me to take my game to the limit. As I am preparing to do a full clean install of GWX, I would like to incorporate a widescreen GUI that, if not fully dedicated to manual targeting, has some aids to that end. I have been looking at the Ahnenerbe GUI as recommended by a friend. I have been feeling a bit uncertain about that one simply due to my difficulty understand the documentation, but it does look it would fit the bill.

I will check out all recommendations made here. Thanks for the help.

Only one thing I found with the Ahnenerbe GUI that I don't care for. The navigation map screens, attack screen and such are small. Not full screen as they should be so you can see clearer what's going on.

Makmann94's screens are all full size.

I've decided to give both a try. Yesterday I began the process of reinstalling everything. This time around, I am using SH3 Front End. I have a stock 1.4b installation, and following Blitzkrieg's advice, I have made a zipped copy and backed it up on an external hard drive.

Once I had that "mint" can clean copy installed, I used S3FE to make a copy in which I will install GWX Gold. Then I got to thinking, "Why not make a copy of GWX in which I will try Makman's GUI, and other in which I can install the Ahnenerbe GUI?" I think either of these will help me in learning manual targeting. The I also thought to myself I could have a copy of GWX "vanilla" as well.

What a great utilility S3FE is! Takes out a lot of the duplication of effort when managing multiple copies of the game.

Yeah, everything to do with SH3 has come a long way. I found that out by getting back into it again after being away form it for about 3 years. I used know SH3 like the back of my hand, but that's no longer so. LOL

Many changes made and all for the good. And I thank all the mod makers for that. I only wish I had the patience and knowledge to stand in their shoes and do what they can do.
