How's it compare to GNBNA in gameplay? That was my first naval sim, and it got me hooked.

Oh, for crying out loud. How can these jackballs expect me to get any work done when they keep re-releasing these epic Microprose games on Steam!

YES, it looks like STEAM is going to get most of the good
old games along with their new releases. My handle on steam:
FAdmiral, of course....

I just browsed a bit. They have many of the old MicroProse titles, including Silent Service, Silent Service II and Fleet Defender (F-14 Tomcat). I have all these games as either C64 or Amiga (emulated) or DOS (Win98SE). I wonder how they would look and play on a modern PC?

I wish simulations would become popular among the masses and make a comeback.

They play just fine, probably the same way you remember them! These re-releases all come by way of a well-tuned DosBox build, so they play the way they're supposed to. The only real obstacle is being spoiled by the high-definition graphics and smoother interfaces we have these days. But I really do hope that better availability of these might lead to new remakes. For example the Atari WWI game Wings! got a remake not too long ago, and by all accounts it's a faithful adaptation of the original to modern 3D visuals.

i'll take good game play over graphics any day of the week .

a game that plays well and is fun or just makes you sweat beats eye candy every time . iho eye candy killed a few games that could have been awe sum but the game play sucked .

Default Yeah....got re hooked on this game sans good graphics lol

I wish someone would remake and combine both TF1942, and 1942 Pacific Air War. I always felt that they both were missing the other element. Maybe they could include subs too!! This would be a dream sim for me.....as the command and control element plus being able to jump into individual battles was worked extremely well with these two sims. If I could just get early 90's game play with 2015 graphics......is that too much to ask???
