Dangit, was waiting for the full interview.
![]() Good news though. Bet they noticed that instead of reducing piracy, it reduced the number of people willing to pay for their games. I've been avoiding their games because of it; there's a couple of things I would have been interested in otherwise, like the Anno games.

I think I'm losing my touch...
I actually did get SH5, and SC:Conviction. Neither really gave me THAT much trouble, except for when these "hackers" (I use that term lightly) took down their servers... or my ISP crapped out... or when I was downloading something in the background... ![]() Screw it, good riddance. Beyond being a pain in the ass, it was downright resentful to people without a (reliable) connection.

So who wants to start the betting that this is just a PR stunt as they get their even worse DRM ready?

Did you read it? They changed their policy. A year ago, actually. Doesn't gaurantee they won't come up with something even more daft a year from now, but for now the thing is gone.

Always on DRM means the 100% internet connection.
Bottom line, if Uplay still exists, and is still being used, and authentication is still required through Uplay, then the DRM IS NOT GONE. Period. All it means, is it's more like steam. yes Steam is a DRM. I use it quit a bit, despite what some people say its a great service. However I just have say its a bunch of BS to say a game saddled with Uplay has no DRM. It has a DRM, and it's inspired from steam. And that's the thing. The "steam model" is what PC games will be going to. EA started Origin, Ubisoft has Uplay. My beef is, I personally don't want more then one of these types of DRM's on my machine. Id rather use just one. |
