Default YogsCast & Notch

Anyone know what's happened between YogsCast and Notch? Seems to be some serious brown stuff going down on Twitter.

And they claim they're the reason minecraft is big and that we should thank them more than anyone else in the community. They're total dicks

A kid wanted them to sign something I had signed, and they said they'd cross it out and put "**** you" there instead.

Everyone else in the Minecraft community is all about respecting and caring. They're not. They're an isolated island of egos.

All this said, I'm very tired at the moment, and this will probably pass. I do like the work they do, very much.

Ah, good old internet drama

In fairness, Notch is also sometimes quite the smartmouth (what with his increasingly-ascerbic snaps at Bethesda). But I think at this point, it'll be good if they all just chill. And the players go about their business without ragging on anyone.

Lewis (from Yogscast) should be making somekind of statement when they're
back in UK.

Heck, this could be just one big prank, they seemed to be in good spirits during the
interview and Simon & Lewis spent a lot of time with the Mojang team during Minecon.
Who knows.

Hannah's short response from Yogscast's forums (she has since edited it and only left the first bit):

Quote:
I find the words 'work with' to be very interesting in this - you will
see why when Lewis gets home and makes his v-log of Minecon.

He (Notch) used masturbation jokes in our videos, but then criticises us for using
old footage with swearing in, when we have limited resources to edit the
footage in Vegas, and also neither Mojang nor IGN gave us any guidelines
as to what we were and weren't allowed to do - the people in the panel
and on the livestream chose to come and see us - so you'd think they'd
know swearing is likely.

We did about six hours of signings and photos in general - no kid or parent
complained to us about swearing.

I won't say more as Lewis' v-log will expose everything in wonderfully high
definitioned rage, so give us a few days to get our thoughts in order.
Watched the panel in full, the only bits of swearing are indeed during the opening
where they show old bits from their various minecraft videos.

Personally I don't much care for Notch. He just comes off as pretty much a well the term we use around these parts is Douche bag.

His little jabs at Bethseda, pretty much all of his twitter posts are just the rantings of a programmer that thinks he is much higher then he is in the world. He got lucky, but he is a one hit wonder. Scrolls will suck if ever released, he is riding the wave of his fame and he will eventually vanish like the passing of the seasons, while REAL game develops like Bethseda will still be here.

Oh and the Yogscast guys will just be playing another game. At this point it doesn't matter what game they play, their fans and their folllowing are entertained by them and their commentary not so much the game they play.

So in closing Notch can piss off, I don't care what he thinks.

@Drew I agree. Notch has changed since the minecraft was opened and l can't say it was for the better.

If you really look at how he progressed the game I believe it goes from great to good to mediocre. Naturally, being an alpha release it only makes sense for him to make great advances in the beginning but, seeing how much the community can achieve with the game coupled with his apparent lack of interest in new content or what have you has me asking if motives and ideals have changed along the way :hmm:

Now on the subject of the YC. I believe they can be a bit hard to listen to sometimes. But the description notch has given us goes against everything they portray themselves to be as well as against all impressions I've had from reading their forums. As far as I can tell they're simply in it for good fun and to have a few laughs along the way.

Cheers

Precisely.

That and money, Yogscast is their full-time job as far as I know. Which is a good
point to remember when reading Notch's "no one else got paid" comment.
Yogscast does this for living, they are asked to go to the other side of the world
to promote Minecraft. Sounds like a good reason to me to ask for a pay.

Or as Totalbiscuit put it:
"The fact that no-one else got paid does not indicate a problem with Yogscast,
but with a multi-millionaire staffing a convention with volunteers."

You can read TB's full opinion on the matter as a friend of both Simon and Lewis here.
(Do remember, it's an opinion, he wasn't there nor have talked to Yogscast about it)

... internet drama...

Anyway, personally i think the yogscast should have seen that they wouldn't be payed by Notch, and if they wanted payment they should have asked for a written contract (if they already hadn't) and never trusted or think a Business man will part with money.

In the end they are both acting stupid, the yogscast and their raging fans, and notch his smart mouth, and wallet.

In the end they will probably all just kiss and make up...

Apparently the Yogscast forums themselves have been DDOS'd into the ground, most likely by loyal Notch fanboys I imagine.

Here's the direct link to the statement from them (Yogscast):

Yeah, saw this coming from the "bit" of reading I've done the past days on this.

There's pretty much only one statement (click) from someone who was at Minecon that says anything
negative about Yogscast, but even that was refuted by a guy by the name of
Dickie Adams who was working at Minecon and pretty much spent all the time
with Yogscast and witnessed the things as they actually were first hand. (click)

As for the organisation of the Minecon, it was on MinecraftChick's(Lydia) responsibility,
who has gotten to be Mojang's PR person (AFAIK) by sheer arse-licking.
This statement gives some oversight as to how badly the convention was organised:
http://www.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/co...gscast/c31pix8

Aaanywho, wonder what Notch does now.
