I'm finished with SH5 if this doesn't get fixed.
Ever since I started the Mediterranean campaign, I've had trouble with savedgames occasionally crashing to desktop upon load. Usually I had to revert to the last previous autosave. Now BOTH my campaign save file AND the autosave crash to desktop on load. I've essentially lost all campaign progress. I play this game for the campaign, not multiplayer or single missions, so if this can't be fixed I am putting this game back on the shelf unfortunately. It's too bad because I was actually having fun despite the unfinished state of the product. This is a gamebreaker, though. Does anyone know a fix for this? (I have seen *some* others, but not all, encounter similiar campaign loading troubles, which leads me to think it's likely an OS or maybe hardware issue. I'm running Vista. Is that any help?) |

I just got the same thing, but with Total Germany (so only an hour or two of lost play...)
I was submerged with two planes 5.5km away from me 'stuck' like the destroyers get, circling at that range and following my progress. I saved and reloaded to clear that little problem and now both my autosave_in_game and this save CTD when I try to reload... I tried 'progressing' the save by using ACS but it still crashed. Oh well. ![]() |

Hello,
I'm experiencing the same thing. I posted this : http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...07#post1391907 but there was mention that the remote game saving might be the cause. So, I'm going to try and switch to local game saving load up the latest useable game if I can and try that. I'll then see if I receive CTDs and data loss. You may want to try this too, to see if it resolves the problem for you, then we know that this might weel be a problem common to the remote game saving app. |

I tried using ACS as a work around too and it didn't work either.
Are you patched to 1.2 ? I haven't tried it yet. |

Yeah, 1.2. I've had online saves turned off for months now after losing a full day of playing due to a power outage and Ubi's horrible "synch" process.

Thought I'd try something before reviewing drivers and patching. I switched off remote game saving. There was one CTD which (I think this time) came about when a torpedo struck a VW destroyer that had collided with a Dido cruiser. The DD was stationery and did not seem to be recognised by the game software - it did not get picked up by the TDC and was not visible on the maps. But I was able to reload the game from the latest save file. I'm sure that the CTD corrupts the save by not allowing the save files to be closed properly and the game cannot be synchronised between me and the server, thus they fail to open, so I suggest saving locally. This may not necessarily stop CTDs but it will mean that you will more likely not lose data from these events. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Yeah, basically. Both my named save and the auto_in_game save are corrupted and won't load. The auto save was from 16 minutes before my other save, before I'd encountered the planes or submerged, so not sure what's up.

I keep clicking that rotary thing on the ubisoft launcher and clicking "no" to save synch. But every time the main screen loads I still get "Please wait while your saved games are synchronized...". It's maddening. Anyway, I have no clue what causes this problem, but like I said it's disappointing because I can't even play the game anymore. |

And as a corallary, I should mention that I have not yet patched to 1.2. I was considering patching as a possible solution, but seeing as how others who have patched are having the same problem, I don't really think it would be worthwhile.

Patching will be required eventually, so might as well do it now. All new mods coming out are going to be 1.2 only, and existing ones are all being upgraded as well. There are some vital fixes that managed to sneak through the patch as well.
Even after turning "off" synching, you still get the super annoying wait and click synch messages in game, they just don't do anything. |

I'm waiting a little longer before patching.
I'll be trying a game shortly to see if I encoounter new CTDs as I'm in port now - Piraeus. brb in a while. |

I had two crashes but the game is stable enough to play especially with local saves. I'll update if I have anything further. I think about putting the new patch in over the next day or so.
