Default Ship Simulator Extremes

Anyone else looking forward to this? I enjoyed the demo of the predecessor; it was fairly entertaining.

Look interesting but I have one comment on the trailer....it shows a speed boat careening towards a Naval ship!

Could be fun is a modern day pirate ship is created and the player used a naval vessel to track and destroy it.

Lol, I use to be on there forum, the community would probably freak if something like that went in lol, they had a panic attack when someone proposed warships in game.

*edit. Oah, I see the developers got rid of the "hill" waves. good.

It does look quite good. I could see cruising in a warship in the Gulf of Oman looking for the mother pirate ship!

Sounds like they are going for a more mission based approach this time out with vessels from the US Coastguard, Greenpeace and Fire fighting now in the mix.

I just hope that they have improved the simulation engine itself. Although the physics and graphics were very good in the last release (2008) there were no wind or current effects on the ships and the buoyage was nowhere near as bright as it should have been at night at distance. I these core things are now incorporated it could be a winner. Surprisingly in the two versions already sold 2006/2008 it has already equalled a third (500K) of the SH series (1-4) sales (1.5M units) so there is a market there.

I can second that! lol, they all seemed to think that if a warship was put in it would turn into a shooting game...

Yea, that forum is abit like Nam

I WAS THERE MAN! lol

But, Myself, I never understood any of there arguements. I remember a topic where a guy was asking if there could be warships in the game... just warships, no gun action, just a model. For the first page, everything went fine, then (the people who I called the "hippies, no offence to any hippies out there" came in, thats the first real time the subject was brought up.

There best comeback was. "It will ruin multi-player (what MP, ya mean the couple of people who had a server) because people would start shooting people who dont want to be. I got a good LOL out of this because it had already been stated the ships guns wouldnt work.

Like said earlyer, that place is a peice of work.

Yes and multiplayer to a degree was already "ruined" even with just merchant ships as "the unruly ones" would just fire up a game and ram someone broadside for effect, usually with that fast hydrofoil thingy the "Red Jet 4" .

It does seem surprisingly for the sim genre that the shipsim forums are populated by what seems about about 80% under sixteens.

Perhaps V-Step could release, like Microsoft did with Flight sim, a "Combat Ship Simulator" variant for those of us (us) that want it!
