Blue Das Boot Interior for FM_NewInteriors v1.0

Ever watched the movie Das Boot? (Okay, silly question ) Ever notice how some internal night scenes had a deep relaxing blue interior? Well now you can have the same thing along with the magnificent new FM NewInteriors v1.0 mod!

This mod makes the following rooms turn blue when the sun sets:
-Control Room
-Radio Room
-Diesel Engines
-Petty Officer's quarters
-Forward Officers Quarters
The Conning Tower room (with the attack periscope) remains red to provide some variety, however; the mod also includes the option of a blue conning tower room as well.

Installation Instructions:

This mod is JSGME ready, so just plop the contents of the .7 zip file into the SH3 Mods folder and you're good to go. Be sure to enable this mod after/on top of the FM_NewInteriors v1.0 mod.

The mod contains two folders: FM_NewInteriors - Blue Interior and
FM_NewInteriors - Blue Conning Tower Interior. Both of these are independant of each other, meaning that you can enable one without the other, or both at the same time.

Enabling both will have the entire interior including the Conning Tower turn blue, and enabling the Blue Interior only will have everything but the Conning tower blue. Enabling just the Blue Conning tower will make only the Conning tower blue, and the rest of the boat red.
The installation order does not matter, just as long as they both are enabled after the original FM_NewInteriors v1.0 mod which is available on the forum.

I also recommend using Venatore's Blue Night Map mod, which gives the 2D image of the navigation map a blue night filter that goes with this mod quite nicely.

NOTE:
-This mod requires FM_NewInteriors v1.0
-This mod will not work with Diving Duck's open Hatch mod, nor will it work with lucagaeta's Full open conning tower hatch mod as of yet.

I'm going to try and get it to work but it may not have the same functionality.

As far as I know now, if rooms are attached to each other (such as with DD's Open Hatch mod and FM's NewInteriors) then the room colour of the main Control Room seems to dictate the colour for all the rooms attached. This means that you can only have one colour for the night ambient lighting (blue for everything or red for everything) if you can freely move between rooms in shift-F2 mode. Having the Conning tower separate as in the fore-mentioned mods seems to be the only way to have them with different night colours.

I could very well be wrong, and I am going to try and prove myself wrong by getting these same principles to work with the full open conning tower hatch mod (then again I'm no expert ).

But the blue interior should still work with Lucas' mod, there just wont be any red/blue room mixing going on...The wheels are in motion.

Viper, that was my experience as well, the ambient light setting in CR.dat changes the ambient for the entire sub. your idea regrading the CT.dat sounds promising. Somehow I could not get the conning tower to become blue no matter what I adjusted.

It looks awesome but I do prefer the normal lights we are using now!

Blue is at least for me to modern look, I think!


But it is a great work for optional mod no doubt!

Failed to unzip the file !

Hello !

I´ve download the MOD five times and every time I get the error message during unzip with 7-zip that the file is corrupted: NSS_Uboat_7_RR.dat. And I can not open the File with S3D!

Can you please check the Archive and may upload the MOD again ?

Thank-you for your report! I have repacked and re-uploaded the files to filefront, and I have also repacked the files into .rar and uploaded it to megaupload and filefront just to be sure. Here's the link for the .rar at megaupload and filefront:

Also, just to point out: the daytime light bulbs appear to be more blue, because if they remained the same yellow-ish colour as in the original FM_NewInteriors/Open Hatch mod, the lights would appear bright reddish/pink when the blue night filter comes on at sunset. The new lights as you see them are a blend between the colours that look fitting during the day and don't turn weird during the night. I tried a whole number of different combinations and values, and these seem to be the best in my opinion without making the Uboat look like something out of the Beatles' imagination.

...and during unzip the .rar Archive I become the same error message too, but it is the CT.dat file !

Hmm.

I know that some other people have successfully downloaded and used the mod. I also tested the .rar file on another computer and it decompresses okay.

To be sure, I have re-compressed the mod files using a different computer with different software and I have uploaded them to the links you see above in the main post (did away with megaupload and am using rapidshare as a backup).

I also noticed that Venatore's blue map mod is not where it used to be and can't be found so easily. So I have taken the liberty to upload it and the link is on the main post as well.

Please let me know if these work, and I'm sorry you're having all this trouble. These are big files being compressed (RR.dat in particular), so if worst comes to worst I can upload the mod files as is, and unzipped.

Somebody anybody know any mirror that is not rapidshare?
Rapidshare behaves strangely for me i mean,it's chops my download in to damaged archives,dunno why.
