Default Whose installed SH3 on W7??

Hello O Brainy Ones, I have a shiny new computer, with Windows Seven 64bit in place, and I now want to put SH3 GWX on it - and SH4. Wondered if you who have already done these things might have any tips or warnings I could profit from. I have turned off UAC.

I have installed one other game so far, which is Fallout3, and all in all that went on OK. Win7 itself seems fine - welcome screen a bit naff I thought, but that is just being picky. It is quite easy to find your way around, but if you can't, just start typing the name you are looking for in the run box at the bottom of the Start menu screen and it will likely come up in the window above, so you then click on its title to get there. Simples! I haven't really got into it enough yet to give a useful opinion, but... yeah, pleased to have it as a successor to good ol XP

umphf, I have installed the vanilla and patched it and removed starforce, set it to XPSP3 compatibility and ticked the 'run as admin' box, none of which has got me any further than the intro. After that you get the music ( not Creative btw) but no graphics.....

would putting GWX3 on sort it do you suppose? (probably not)

HI Firewall. Well, I bought the mobo about a year back Intel dual-core capable, so when we had the pennies ( some while later) we got a 2.8GHz d-c processor to go on it. I was going to use an old case, but Himself offered to buy me a gamers case with huge fan , so we went for that, but not their psu which was a bit pricey on top of all else.
I took one of the nVidia 7600GT cards out of the XP box ( which has now been demoted to non-games), which is still in use via a KVM switch - no room for TWO wide screen monitors!), and that is about it, Standard DVD-RW. As I only want to use Win7 for games, don't feel I need anything else - but I will probably upgrade the graphics card when the pennies allow
. Only one PCI-E slot in the games machine, so no SLI.

If I cant get SH3 to run on Win 7 I will simply continue to run it on XP, so not TOO bothered..

Sounds good. With Vista64 I went the dual boot route with Xp to save the hassle.

Anything that gave me trouble to install on Vista I put on XP.

I wasn't sure if I could dual-boot XP and Windows Seven, and anyway, that would have meant getting rid of the XP machine ( which is built like a brick out-house), and I didn't really want to do that, so KVM seemed the solution, and it works fine. Dipstick that I am, I put the 32bit W7 on at first, not realising the dual core was 64 bit-capable, so had to reinstall ( I like the idea of getting above the 4GB barrier for memory) - but all seems to be working very well, at least, it was, til I tried to get SH3 going. Ho-hum...

This might help you She-Wolf. I kind of ran into the same problem with SH4 and Vista. Game installed fine. I started the game got the music but no video. I shut the game down and went to my video card. I reset the card to all default values. After that the game would play and I could see the video images. I then closed the game down and reset my video card back up to what I had previous of resting to default. After that, no issues at all. Game worked fine, video showed. Give it a try and see if it works.
