The idea is based on the USS-Swordfish but totally fictional. It is ready for use with any sargo class submarine.
Credits go to Foofighter for his nice SargoBlackSkin which I used as base for this and for his allowance to use it ![]() Credits also go to the developers of The Gimp and the one(s) who wrote the dds-plugin for it ![]() The skin features: - a swordfish's head and spear right at the boat's nose - blue fore depth rudders - an overall weathered/less clean look on the painting as well as the depth rudders for a more realistic appearance - a stylized version of a swordfish as tower emblem There's also a version which includes a bloody, fancy, coloured version of the tower emblem, see the screenshots to find out which one you like better ![]() Also, as I recently learned (thanks, tei) that the texture files ending in ...02.dds are used automatically in the late war period, I decided to include the late _and_ black skin into one singe mod. So before mid '44 the game will use the black version and after that the light grey version of the skin. Think that makes sense. And this applies also to the skin with the coloured emblem, of course. ![]() I edited the first post of this thread to include alle parts of this little mod in one. So no mess sprayed over the whole page anymore ![]() Also, the mod now includes both, the ealy and late war skin. The game will switch at port between those two when an appropriate date is reached. |

Glad to read this. I think I will also paste this skin onto other submarine types like Gato or Balao. At least at the lastest when I get offered such a thing in my campaign

Just one comment....The "holes" on the sides (hull) do not line up, but I also noticed this with Foo's Sargo skin's.

Thanks. I just checked and compared it to the original SH4 texture. The holes at the side look exactly the same in all skins, lineup-wise. I think it is supposed to look like this. Don't know whether it is accurate, though ^^

I think it is just not aligned proper, so it is blocking the holes a bit, I will get a screen shot for you. And I am not being critical of youre work, I just thought I would mention it.
If you look at the game skin of the Sargo, you will see water coming out of the hull holes, if you look at Foo's skin , there is no water comming out the way that stock does. I noticed the same thing with youre skin, ...no big deal at all, I was really just wondering if you had noticed this. Weird. I don't see any connection between the controllers that trigger the water stream effects and the texture, and there shouldn't be any either.
Also, the mod does overwrite only those texture files, no config files or something. I use the "tweaked water streams and exhaust smokes for RFB" mod, that reduces those water streams a bit. This is how the original foofighter's skin looked some time ago for me (didn't take any compareable screenshots since then): Is there something else tweaked or modded in your installation ? No, I run a "stock" game, no super MOD's, I do have a few of Web's single fix's running . I will dig a little deeper also, and get back to you.
And I do not run any Enviro MOD's either, hmmmm strange. |
