Default [REL] EZ Plot v1.0

This is my first mod that I made for personal usage that I decided to release it, hoping to help beginners of manual targeting that use one of the "Large Conversion Mods".

The reason for this mod was that I really enjoy using the "Large Conversion Mods", but they stripped and/or changed some of the visual information that was available in stock on the Navigational and Attack Maps. This made it difficult to learn manual targeting.

This mod changes the Navigation map and Attack map of the "Large Conversion Mods" back to something that resembles stock.

This mod does the following:

1. The ship shapes will appear when zoomed in on both maps. All ships will appear in “black”, no matter what nationality.

2. The “tails” will appear on ship/plane contacts. The tails will remain black until you are close enough to identify friendly or enemy, then they will change to red for enemy and blue for friendly.

3. Sonar contact lines will be continuous and not dashed.

4. The projected torpedo path line will appear and will be continuous and not dashed on the attack map.

5. The projected point of impact “X” and the target path will be visible on the attack map when using the “Position Keeper”.

6. If the mod uses the “bearing tool”, or if you have installed the bearing tool mod, this will be retained.

I have tested this mod through regular game play and everything appears to be working as it should. The files changed in this mode were the Maps.cfg, the individual ship shp.dds files, and the contline.dds and dashline.dds files. Other mods that change these files may interfere with this mod if they are installed after it.

This mod can be installed manually, or using JSGME.

Feel free to use or change this mod as you need.

If there are any problems with this mod, I can be contacted through the www.subsim.com forums. Just send me a PM.

Good Hunting

Good deal Nunya! This can allow a new player to use RFB or TMO without getting so frustrated they quit the game. When they get better, they can switch out your mod and play the more difficult settings. Great job!

Thanks for your efforts, always disliked the fact the zoomed-in ship shapes disappeared in RFB (which I currently play) and TM(O). It took quite some time and effort to remove these edits myself

However, the above remark (quote) confused me, since I 've not seen the white 'TDT' cross and line disappear. Which file controls this? I actually want to try to play without this 'aid' without removing the original ContLine.dds and DashLine.dds files which I understand control the representation of a lot of sensor information on the map.

Very good work indeed.

It´s making man-tgt fun that teaches the community. As said, after a while you automatically want to run it "full manual".

It´s only a talented teacher who can make any subject a joy to learn.

I was thinking, how can you mod this to incorporate the sonar lines only? I was thinking on the way that "Onelifecrisis" has made his GUI for manual targeting SHIII.

My dream scenario is having SHIV modded to TM or RFB, running at 100% realism and still have these lines there (although a bit inaccurate just like OLC:s) plus his rough presentatio/estimation on the map without the possibility to see them when zoomed in.

Cheers
