This is a set of map colour schemes to change the stock map and to also add in terrain elevation detail.
Thanks to DS and Bosn for suggested the inverted colour scheme. There are 6 colour schemes available, as detailed below. You can easily create new ones yourself by editing the gradient.tga file and putting your own colours in. Original Map Scheme with added terrain detail. For those that don't like any of the following schemes and think original is best: ![]() Inverse of Original Map Scheme with added terrain detail. ![]() Map Scheme 1. High contrast map. Light blue for the shallows, dark blue for the deep. ![]() Map Scheme 2. High contrast map. Inverse of previous colours. Dark blue for the shallows, light blue for the deep. ![]() Map Scheme 3. More contrast than stock map. Light blue for shallows, medium blue for deep water. ![]() Map Scheme 4. More contrast than stock map. Inverse of previous scheme. Dark blue for shallows, light blue for deep water. ![]() You can get them from: http://files.filefront.com/Map+Colou.../fileinfo.html Also: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/down...?do=file&id=87 Thanks, Nisgeis.

Thanks for your work. Just looked at the file. What a big difference such a small file can do. Do you know what gradient3.tga is for? Map names, I suppose... |

Cool stuff! I won't say which one I like because that's for your other thread. They are all cool.

Number 3 for me, too, although I like the original with terrain detail as well. I think with the inverse shallow/deep scheme I would always be finding myself in tight situations inadvertantly until getting accustomed, but overall that's some top-notch work there

I like #3 as well. Lighter colors have pretty much always been used to depict shallow waters in naval games, while the same can be said about darker blue colors for deeper water.

Nice work. I shall try them all before I settle on one or maybe two of them.
