[REL]U-1105 Black Panther Skin

Hey everyone, I have another skin ready for download. The U-1105 "Black Panther". At first glance, you may just see this as a plain black boat. But look very closely to the underlying texture. It took me a few hours just to do that texture. I took a sample from one of the only pictures of the U-1105, the picture of it's conning tower, and cleaned the sample through filters. Then I combined that texture with a sample of modern day oppanol (which is what Alberich was made out of). The result is in my mind, what Alberich probably looked like (brand new of course) on a U-boat. The reason I took on this skin is I plan on diving the U-1105 wreck next spring. Make sure when you download it, you take the time to read the readme file. It has some infor about the boat and links to the wreck site.

Works with GWX 2.1, right?
Must I be docked to install it?

Looks great. Can you do one for an IXB? I've been looking for a realistic 'albrecht' skin for the IXB.

If the files graphical only then there should be no problem with GWX.

You should always be docked and have SH3Cmdr Rollback before enabling/disabling any mods.

Alberich was a codename for the secret rubber compound they applied to the boat. It was made from oppanol, which is still used today for the same purpose, as insulation. I believe they also made the compound better for application on modern subs, at least the Russians did. It was applied as 4mm thick strips, with glue. The glue was reported as not being very seaworthy, and the strips tended to peel off. If the could have fixed the glue issue, and came up with this idea earlier in the war, who knows, they might have held the Atlantic for longer than they did.

Thanks to everyone for their comments so far. I'll try to work on an IX Alberich boat, but I have to finish my U-869 skin first.

Hey starlion, thanks for the compliments. I do plan on making this skin for the IXB or C soon, after I'm done with the U-869 skin. So look for it to be on here in the next couple of days.
