Talking PICTURES ! Operation Felix: "The Rock Shudders"

Ah Fellow Captians !

I am pleased to announce, my single player mission (part of campaign maybe ?)called 'The Rock Shudders' based on the proposed Axis Bombing raid on Gibraltar, had Operation Felix Gone ahead.

(Operation Felix was the codename for Hitlers, Bentio Mussolinis, and Francos plans to invade, and take hold of, the 'rock' (Gibraltar). If effective, this would present serious problems for the allies - thus turning the Med into an 'axis lake'.
Thankfully however, due to diplomatic disagreements between Hitler and Franco the operation was cancelled - indefinately.)

The plans and levels of detail that went into planning the invasion were indeed seriously talked of, and the units and timings reflect this in the game. These particular screenshots are based on the intial part of the operation - the heavy bombing of Gibraltar - hence my rather apt 'The Rock Shudders' title.

THIS IS ONLY A TEST RUN !!! - AND BY NO MEANS IS THIS THE FINISHED PRODUCT, i have alot to changes to make, and thought that you all might like to see my work - as some parts are rather humourous !

First Bombing Wave: 70 Ju 87 Stuka's, finally see there target!.

Air-raid sirens sound. Searchlights start to liluminate the sky. Pilot gets ready.

Devils Tower Camp: 3 inch Guns are brought into line. Tommy Atkins: "Enemy Spotted...FIRE !"

Direct Hit ! German Pilot: "S*** .....AHHHH !"

"Damn, i knew i should have packed my Parashute!"

Hit ! Mayday Mayday..going down!!!

Tommy Atkins: "Yes we got em..well one of them...how many more ?... "
Gun Aimer: "Too B***dy Many !"

German Pilot: "Oh Dear..i think we've had it now !"

Tommy: "They're Breaking Through the Line !"

Comander lead of First attack force: "Break up for Dive Bombing !!!..DIVE DIVE DIVE"...might i remind you all you ARE NOT Submariner's!"

And Just when they're about to bomb the living hell out of the Rodney & Dorsetshire...

Having 70 AI Planes, really did slow this down, not to mention with the 48 AA defenses and 12 AI Controlled ships, all of which are firing more or less at the same time. Consiqently i did have to pause every 1 or 2 seconds to get to all the best bits of the action!.

I did want to witness the bombing the of the port ships (remiants of Force H), upon which the role of the submarine would take place, where after 15 mintues of bombing the ships would start to make their escape - leaving you to take them out. However, i might have to reduce the number of attacking planes to prevent the system from crashing !, although saying that SHIII did do tell to put up with all those units for so long !!!.

After making a few changes to this (as mentioned above) i plan to include 4 other senarios baised on the naval aspect of the Operation, partically Chruchills response (by relief effort), and the Italian surface action. All this is based from 'Hitler Triumphant - Alternate Views Of World War II', Edited By Peter G Tsouras.
