What the hell is going on with SH4 screen res!!

Hi, this is so frustrating, for some reason I can only run this game in 1024x768 and only if I use the d3d9 hires mod!

If I don't use the hires mod the whole screen is out of sync & ctrl + F11 does not work, I can go in and out of the menu ok and the menu bar (dial etc) displays ok, here is a shot with SH4 set to 1152 x 864 and the hires mod set to 1024 x 768:

If both were set to 1024 then all is ok, thing is I shouldn't have to use this mod!

Anyone have any ideas of how to fix this?

Gee I'm having a good time with this, so far, believe it or not I'm still stuck in accademy school!!

Do you have a copy of SH4 on DVD?

Your cooling is working fine etc.? That's some baaad graphical problems. Might want to try and re-install your drivers too. :hmm:

Yes I could reinstall but would like to know what the problem is, I will have to take out mods then hopefully in the uninstall window I can do a repair then install 1.4 patch & reinstall the mods!

This is what I'm hoping to avoid!
A word of warning to others, don't try the HIREs mod, it is likely to stuff SH4 up!!

wierd, I've played w/ SH4 1.4 in resolutions all the way up to 1600X 1200 while checking frame rates with no problems.

ATi card 7.11 drivers

I think it has something to do with the d3d9 hires mod, it has stuffed something up.

I just disabled all mods, went to uninstall/change/repair but it's still the same,

maybe I'll move the sh4 folder in docments & settings & give it a try ... standby .... no that didn't work either, this kinda sucks big time, I don't think my card has died as it works with the hires mod ok. It looks like a total reinstall!!

Last time I got Jimi Hendrix graphics marked the slow demise of my then current graphics card...although I must admit the effects were pretty "Peter Max"ish...

A complete reinstall fixed it, but the uninstall deleted the Silent Hunter 4 folder, including the mods folder, and yes, not backed up! What a pain!

This is not my best day, I should have stayed in bed!!

Nice to hear you got it fixed, to bad about the mods. At least with 1.4 just out, there are not many that are compatible yet.

Thanks RDP, according to LeoVampire all his ROW mods are ok except any that may include zones.cfg and/or menu_1024_768.ini. So I had most of his installed!

Well it's 1.00 am here, hopefully after a good nights sleep all will be better.

In all reality Reece, this might have been for the better. As much as we activate and dectivate mods, change this and change that, move this here, move that there eventully something somewhere is going to ruin your whole day. Fresh install. All files are were they need to be. Download the mods you really enjoy and load up. You will find, as I have experienced, the game running better. The graphics look better. Issue like you had have gone away. Sit back, play for awhile and wait for that new mod you just have to have. At any rate, glad it worked and you are not on the way to the store looking to replace a perfectly good video card.
