Something wrong with modding XXI skins.

I know I'm getting tired....

I used generic mod enabler to enable a skin for XXI that I'm working on. Even fubars XXI skin doesn't work?

c:\xxxx\MODS\Wolfehunters_U2511\data\Textures\TNor mal\tex\Typ 21_Hull.tga
right? wrong? :hmm:

I'm even trying Fubars XXI and all I get is the original SH3 skin? Is there a bug with skinning XXI?

What could be causing the conflict? Any ideas guys? This is the first time I'm trying to skin the XXI subs.

Strange thing about the XXI (Type II's), their skins will only show in game if you put the TGA file back into the respective DAT file.

Hmmm. I did that using XXI reworked skins from Lutzow Moderntype NSS_Uboat21_Hull.dat to test my skin. The only problem was a bunch of stuff got damaged when I started the game?

Heres a [WIP] shot of the hull and its rough. This will be the U-2511 when I'm finished.

Lutzow dude I need your help. Problem within game. I used XXI Modernskin DAT file to test my skin. When I started all the radars and antennas were destroyed? I'm not using GWX just 1.4b. :hmm:
At least now I could see the skin.

Moderntype IS NOT my skin - i'm just released this one after a permission
from Racerboy which is an author of reworking.
And to resolve your problems you must contact RACERBOY
He knows everything about packing tga's into DAT files for types XXI,
IIA and IID - those three types are using DAT files.
Types VII and IX are using only unpacked tga's - i suppose that is a
reason why we have a lot of VII and IX skins and just a couple of II and XXI. For XXI type only 5 skins! - those three above in this post, Venatore
latest skin for XXI type and that old skin maded by Fubar for GWX.
Fubar is working now on skin for XXI type - this will be 6-th skin.
And yours will be 7-th - so not much for now.
Skins for type II also are just a few...

P.S.Don't forget to make a tga for air turrets

I found out the hard way as well, it took me 7 1/2 hours to finally work out that the above mentioned comments by Danlisa was the under-lying factor. The mighty type XXI U-boat skin takes a bit of giggling to finally present it to forum members.

I feel your pain on this skin.

Thanks guys. I unpacked it and repacked it fine. At least 3Dpacked shows successful. Problem is the radars and antennas are all buggered up at the start of a game.

I'm going to see what Racerboy has to say if he's avaible.

I can help you over come the radars and antennas not skinning. Create a folder pathway as follows data/Textures/TNormal/tex in your skin package. Place a copy of the "conning stuff.tga" file in there as well, it will ensure that your radars and antennas are now skinned.

Ensure you insert the "conning stuff.tga" file in all the other relevant folders as per that U-boat.

Ya I think that might have bin an issue I didn't do. Using Racerboys XXI repack I copied all but the Conning stuff. Hmmm. First time I did it, it worked I was going to try that later. I think you hit the bullseye on that one. Thanks guys. I PMed Racerboy so I will see what he says.

Koondawg cool I will. I just didn't know XXI's and TII's were a pain in the rear end to paint. But I love challenges and I will finish U-2511!

Racerboy I think I found a bug with the meshing Dials. Take a look.

I'm testing with your Dat files for my skins when I found this. Trial and Error has given me a chance and I used Pack3D to import tga file using 32bit color depth and rez of 2048 and 1024 where DatTexExtract would fail. I know you use Hexeditor. I tried it long time ago and I couldn't understand it well. But Pack3D seems to work flawlessly in regards to importing tga files.

Anyhow The NSS_Uboat21_Hull is finished. Now I'm working on the NSS_Uboat21_deck.

Another note Racerboy these Reworked skins from lutzow were orignally designed for GWX but they seem to work fine with stock 1.4b unless I missed something?:hmm:
