Default [REL] Map Table Mod 1.0

MAP TABLE MOD 1.3 READY! for SH4
Made By
CAPTAIN COX
12 JULY 2007

Renders REAL WWII NAVAL CHARTS at the map table in all submarines.
Small graphical tweak for v1.3. (you probably wont notice, but the reflection in the
"BULB" (forrad table now has "SUB REFLECTION" )

Also changed the report pad with REAL Patrol Report excerpts.

Included NEW Pinup Girls as well as i was at it (41-45 guaranteed)

I tried to tune the "Christmas tree" lights, but so far I could not get it
looking right, I think there might be another layer in play. Will keep looking and
will update the mod if I get lucky.

Install:
Simply use with JSGME
If you don't have it get it here:
http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/software/products.html

Enjoy!

Or PM me at www.subsim.com

As I have made the textures "HI-RES" due to visual quality of the maps, the files are bigger then the originals.

Would like to add that this was the most FIDDLY Mod i ever have done. This is due to that the "table veneer" texture is used also for the framing of the table. This means that if you put the map anywhere on that surface it will show up on that "frame". Now each sub (4 interiors used for all) are all different. So you have to try, go in game, unload the game, move, load up the game, check, unload, move, load, check..and so on...TAKES FOR EVER I tell you. Anyhow, the best way would have done this using the actual 3D map that is in the game and clone that, reposition it, re texture it and ...well, you get the picture. I might give this a shot when i am more confortable with 3D modeling.

Great job!

EDIT: one thing I noticed is that the patrol report texture you use is shared by the two sheets of paper one sees near the bottom of the sonar station. I'd suggest replacing this texture with something more "universal" like the original, such as a radio frequency list, possibly.

Your eyes servers you very well man! Thing is that the game uses 1 texture for all that stuff. Might have a look at it for a later version and see if one could add some textures etc.

lol, yes, I do have a knack for finding these types of things. For now it's fine and not that big of a deal, but of course an update to it would be great. Ideas for a more "generic" sheet of paper include my idea above, and perhaps the following:

-weather conditions over the past days / estimated sunrise & sunset times

-intelligence summaries on naval assets operating in the area (something both the OOD and sound man would want to know), i.e., "25 June 1943: COMSUBPAC reporting heavy concentration of warships in South China sea," or "Buildup of friendly forces imminent in Volcano Islands area for major assault."

-something else I've not thought of yet, but someone else may.

Great ideas man!. If and when I get more in to the 3D side of things I will look in to also replacing those "2D" maps with cloned 3D ones. Then we don't have the prob of interfering textures on that table.
