Default [REQ] Less "water" poping out from the subs

Dear gurus of mods/devs

I reckon that pacific ocean will raise 1m per month... At this rate ports/towns will be flooded and majority of pacific islands will be under water.

US subs seem to pop out gallons of water while take much less of it. :hmm:

This might be an ultra weapon used by US to allow their subs to dive in JP town centers... but is just a speculation...

Could someone look at the water issue please?

Cheers

Do you mean this ?

If you mean that, its the worst (if one can call it that) graphical effects in the game...the "chunks of water" looks sort a 90s "like ball bit maps" or something.
Agree in that case...but how to fix it :hmm:

Banzai

Right that

not only is a bit ugly but also pops out in large quantities of it...

even if you are sailing in slow gear... or stoped and a "micro wave" touch for a micro-second one of those "black" spots. It pops out "gallons" and "gallons" of "water" through it.

I do agree graphically its a monster in comparison to the water and fluid dynamics.

Would someone know how to reduce it or turn those pixeis from white to transparent (or near transparent)?

Cheers

I'd definitly like to see a fix for this. I love that water comes out of the sub like that, I think its an awesome effect. What I dont like it what it looks like. Not only is there too much of it, but the color just seems wrong to me, all bright white and doesnt look fluid at all. Even changing the color to something that looks more clear would be a big improvement. Definitly the only part of the game graphically that looks lazy.

Whilst the effect is very real...The water coming from the "Limber holes" is just sea water that that has flooded the outer skin..So each time your sub gets a soaking from a big wave..then yes you should see the water streaming away from the limbers....
but yes I do agree it needs "Toning down" in it's present form it looks like soap suds from a washing machine.....Not at all watery...Also it "Glows" at night.

Yep, they're not 'pumping' it out; that whole area's hollow. It flows in, and it flows back out. If you walk on the the deck you can look down and see the water between you and the pressure hull.

I agree, though, it could have been better done.

It's worst on the S-class boats. Sometimes I also think they ride a bit high in the water. If they are riding a bit high, and if they were modded to ride lower it wouldn't be as glaring.

Can't that simply be adjusted here:

[Properties]
PeriscopeDepth=14.5;meters
SnorkelDepth=15;meters
CrashDepth=40;meters
MaxDepth=61;meters
SurfaceDepth=5.257;meters <<<<<<<<<
TorpLaunchMaxDepth=30;meters
StormConditions=7,0.1;max wind speed [m/s], max rain intensity [0,1]

Apparently not. I adjusted an s-18 today - made the SurfaceDepth = 0.001 and then 10.000 and there was no difference as far as I could see. I think this number may just have something to do with the depth at which sailors are shown on the bridge.

Maybe can be tweaked in a "texture" file or something....that is if its not used for something else...have to look.

Hmmm, Im thinking the game gets it's info for this from the .sim file, I see that in the tweaker the setting exists as "draughtSurfaced = 5.257" for the S-18
Haven't had a chance to test it though.
"edit" Seems to be a draughtSubmerged as well so I guess this is not for setting of ride height.

I think you're probably right. Where do I find the SH4 tweak files for the tweaker? I have the utility but I don't have stuff for SH4 yet. If I get the files I'll check into this this morning.

Just checked and I can't see any diff. I set draughtSurfaced to 2 and 20 (tried on a GATO stock setting is 5,6)

The tweak files are all included in "SH4 Modding Tools and Utilities Package " by "nvdrifter"

Some of these settings are rather mysterious, they must do something
