Default Torpedo Data / Values

Does anyone know the stats for the various Torps in SH4?

Mk10, Mk14, Mk16, Mk18, Mk23, Mk27

I've fired all of them in one shot (should have taken my time to figure it out) but 3 were faster and 3 were slower.

Do we know stats? Speed, Abilities, Warhead and Explosive force?

Granted, it's a totally different Navy from SH3, but I remember there being a LOT more settings and options to firing the torps in that game. Are all US torps simple one-setting when we fire? No special patterns or angles other than angle off bow at launch?

You can set fast or slow, depth, gyro angle offset. US subs had no salvo button.

That would be nice, indeed. So far I only noticed the smaller torpedos are loaded much quicker, but they only go slow and it was my impression they have less power.

The Mk 10s only have slow as a speed. To change things like depth on your position keeper move the switch down to torpedo settings.

Several only have one speed setting, like the Mk23. Though I think its single speed setting is rather fast.

What I am more curious about are the actual differences between them in the game.

What speeds do each run?

Are some faster?

Do some have functional proximity fuses?

Etc.

Nothing was mentioned in the manual, so why would we bother buying "upgraded" torps if we don't know the differences between them.

And what the HECK is the Mk27 little thingy all about? Looks like a kiddie toy.

The Mk 27 was known as the cutie....similar to the homing torpedoes in SH3 (G7e) etc. The Mk 16 was long range the Mk 14 the Mainstay. I can not see spending 100 renown for a simplified Mk 14 AKA Mk 23. Check out the differences.

Mk 10 was a shorter range torpedo. Shorter in length for the S-Boats.

Had the advantage of being trackless and only requiring about 70% of the labor needed to build a wet-heater torpedo, but its poor performance and design flaws led to it being discarded in 1950 in favor of the Mark 14 and Mark 16. Until new guide studs were placed in the tubes, the Mark 18 was susceptible to damage upon launch because it accelerated much faster than did the conventional steam-powered torpedoes. By the end of the war, the Mark 18 made up 65 percent of all torpeodes fired by submarines. 21" (53.3 cm) Mark 23. Notes: Identical to the Mark 14 without the 31 knot setting. In service 1943-1946. 19" (48.3 cm) Mark 27. Ship Class Used OnSubmarinesDate Of Design1941Date In Service1943Weight720 lbs. (327 kg)Overall Length7 ft 6 in (2.286 m)Explosive Charge95 lbs. It was a passive homer intended for self-defense against ASW escorts. Used only against the Japanese. A larger version, the Mark 27 Mod 4, was capable of 15.9 knots and was in service from 1946 to 1960. Enjoy .

Do some have functional proximity fuses?

Or even more specific. Are there not homing torpedoes?
