Default I'm surprised this story hasn't been discussed: Apache rescue mission in Afghanistan

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article...551805,00.html

This really was quite an incredible story from the other day. Did it not make news outside of the UK?

Quote:
Four Royal Marines launched a daring and extraordinary mission to rescue the body of a comrade from an enemy stronghold in Afghanistan by strapping themselves to the wings of two Apache helicopter gunships.
Does anyone know if this has been done before? This truly is an amazing act of bravery and heroism by those involved.

I doubt that very much Brad. Unless they play the piano, read the ITN news or being an actor they will not be rewarded.

Wow.....

If I meet those guys I'll get them some beers for a job well done, and for their integrity.

Echo all of the above. Anyone who comes up with something THAT crazy in a war setting needs a medal (and a reminder not to try anything like that in civilian life )

It's the future of air transport. Next they'll be strapping commuters to the wings of 737s.

But yes, that's one Heck of a daring thing to do. They have my respects.

"Task Force: Red Dog" did the same for a few CIA operatives ('Officially' they were not CIA) on the Afghan-Pakistan border a few years ago. Brave bunch of guys.
