Hi gutted
The Map Tools Mod you recommended is excellent and makes a big difference not only curing my night time problem I had but also the degree of plotting accuracy, highly delighted, highly recommended.

Another question:
The bearing tool that comes with FOTRSU is only 1000 yards and does not give enough time before the target is right on top.
Is there a compatible bearing tool that can be used with FOTRSU that has a larger distance?

Peter

Hi gutted
You beat me to it.
Thank you for the Bearing Tool.

I also meant to ask if there is a FOTRSU keyboard layout for the Shift keys.

There is a Keyboard Chart, Front and Back, like in stock, if that's what you're referring to Peter THEBERBSTER. However, it got misplaced in the last update, but will return this next round. If you want it now, QuickReferenceCard.7z is up on DropBox temporarily. It's a 7.56Meg folder with the two jpeg images inside. These are courtesy of CapnScurvy...

Hi pb
Thank you for the link.
Is it safe to use any CTRL key that is not showing in those pictures?

In theory, yes, but you might ask CapnScurvy, the wizard of all things "Menu", just to be certain...

1. yes, the HUD button works for battle stations.
2. other than battle stations, forward and stern tubes toggle, everything seems to work.
3. the key assignments are from FOTRS and changes made through SHKeymapper.

oddly enough, s7rikeback asked some questions that caused me to remember something. i backed out of FOTRS, renamed the commands file, re-applied FOTRS so that the mod would use the stock commands file and now the commands work.

now i am trying to figure out how to pass the questionable commands file to s7rikeback.
thank you for listening.

Do you have any other mods installed they may be causing this?

Hmm but as you said in your post - you have opened the SH keymapper and it's showing the correct key functions there..
ok....i zipped the commands files and attached them to this post. rename the .txt to .zip before you use it. i had to rename it to get it past the download guardian because zip files are not allowed to be attached.

let me know if you find something.

How many Control keys do you have?!?

I've only got two.....I've never seen more than two.

But yes, either CTRL key does the job. Same with the Shift key....doesn't matter which one you use with a key combination command.

=============

The "Help" key (F1), on the keyboard will give you the same run down that the FOTRS Ultimate Keyboard Layout image does.....it's just included "in-game". Lots of modders don't get into addressing the Help file by keeping it current with the changes made. I try to keep the "Help" listing up to date with my modifications. Seems like the right thing to do!

I had a problem with SHKeymapper as it would only open in a small window.
When maximizing everything was out of sink.
did I Install it incorrectly?

Maybe someone else can answer that. I don't use SHKeymapper........If I were you, I wouldn't either.

Look guys, when you want to start making modifications on your own.....you're on your own when things go haywire.

Here's the Keyboard Layout that FOTRS Ultimate uses.

It works as designed until you go monkeying with it.

Notice the "B" key goes to Battle Stations.
"W" key Cycles the Forward Tubes
"E" key Cycles the Aft

Referring to gutted's post.
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...postcount=3694
Ping > CTRL+P
Range > CTRL+R
Bearing > CTRL+B
Looking at the keyboard layout these seem to be ok to use.

yes, those keys did not change they just wouldnt work as advertised. when i applied FOTRS with the exception of commands.cfg, B and W and E worked accordingly. so we must conclude that something in commands.cfg does agree with something else in FOTRS.

i like your mod. i just wanted certain functions to be enabled via the keyboard. if i figure out why those keys dont work, you will be the second person to know about it.

This. I once used a keymapper on my SH4 install that was apparently made for SH3 and it borked my commands file.

I do it all by hand now.
