Default CTD when sonar ranging

Greetings,

Just recently got back into SH4 and loving it all over again, but have run into an odd issue that I managed to reproduce, so I thought I'd ask here for answers:

I'm on patrol in the Sea of Japan in August 1943 with a Gato out of Midway. I came across a line merchant at night in rough seas and set up for an attack. With the waves bucking me around the stadimeter is more useless than normal. I'm trying to get a sonar range, so I use the orders bar to ask my sound guy for a check --- SH4 has stopped working, CTD.

Now I've used the sonar to get ranges multiple times, so I wrote it off. Reload the patrol the next day and try again. Sink a couple merchants (even manage to get a sound range from my sonar guy on one of them), when one dark and rough night I again come across a lone merchant. Same scenario, set up, ask for a range, ---- CTD.

Now, I tried to isolate the common factors: Both times it was night, rough waters, and I'm at PD. I ask for range from the orders bar, not by pinging myself. The second time it was a Ryun Maru (name is probably wrong but it's something similar, large fore and aft masts, dazzle camo job)

Mods:
TMO 2.5 and patch
RSRD 5xx and patch
TMO visuals for RSRD
C/D sonar fix
IJN Radar fix
Zero bomb load fix
ISE v3 for TMO/RFB

I should add, I'm also running the LAA patch

Any clue what's going on?
