Finished a clean install.

Running FOTRSU and its patch.

Started a new career out of Midway in a Gar.

Ignored orders and went straight to (Dec 23rd) Wake trying to find the attacking force. I could not find the CV's that were supposed to be there but did find the landing force. I sank four capital ships, Two CA, one DE and one Chitose. also sank one merchant. Over 25,000 tonnes in all even with duds. I used the entire ships load out during this one battle.

AI is glitched as before. No capital ship will open fire on my periscope while I am doing flank speed until they are 250 yards or less in daylight. It doesn't matter if it is a DD, DE a CA or a anything else. They completely ignore the periscope at flank speed until the distance is 250 yards or less. While I was being pinged they could not find me underwater even with my periscope up at flank speed and would sail right past me at 700 yards.

This is an odd glitch.

We'll dig some more on that "see no evil, hear no evil" problem merc4ulfate. As for Wake, the CV should be on the northwest side of the island, traveling on about a 140° track. I think had to make them do some zigging around for them to stick around long enough, and then they leave traveling on a 270° for home. Maybe I messed up the timing...

your experience is very odd.
i take fire from every boat in the convoy, even the merchies, from 2000yds when i have the scope up 5-6 seconds. ting. ting. ting. all types of gunfire. when i am taking a shot at one of the ships with the draft mismatch, i have to leave the scope up longer to lock the target and then adjust the depth setting before firing, life gets very precious in those few extra moments.


AND, after the attack, when i am attempting to flee the scene, those little f*cker-DD's find me at 300 feet, running silent at 2 knots from more than a mile away. they must have some new secret s^it from the Nazi's. man, they just about tore me and my boat a new one.
so, merc, i could use some of your secret, silent elixir because my boat will be in the yard a good 5-6 weeks getting patched up.



seriously now, i wonder if you and i are playing under different difficulty settings. i don't know what they could be but we are experiencing very different game-behaviors.

my 50 cal AA weapon has never elevated. it rotates and fires but it wont elevate.
currently i am driving a Gato out of Midway. May 1944. i've had the boat for maybe a year now.

Have to report it’s impossible to get accurate distance with stadimeter on the Large Composite Freighter.

Is it supposed to get distance with line on top of masts?
This one, i have to put the line almost on the chimney to get it right...
So the distance on top of masts is way too close.

(Done with calm sea)

Did a fresh new install with latest patch.

Started this time at Midway with a Purpoise class (Dec 41), and at my surprise, i have sonar contacts while surfaced (doesn't be supposed to work only submerged on this sub?)

I'm not sure what I'm looking at for the 50 cal, but will keep trying. I do know though that the game will not always change things like would seem reasonable with the dates. The conning tower though, is something that Ducimus figured out years ago, in that the conning tower upgrade is points-based, like a new boat assignment is. Also, if there is a new boat available, you will get it instead of the tower. I forget what happens if you decline the new boat, as far as the tower goes...

I'll see if I can find the post, if CapnScurvy doesn't report back before then, where he mentions wanting to set the stadimeter to the stack on most of the ships for visibility. I do not recall if that did happen...

OK, so we'll say then that a person has to do at least a new career when doing the Patch file, and you've now got sonar lines...

I have a beta of the "new improved flags for FotrsU" in testing now, I will look at the 50.cal once I'm happy with the flags.. - Happy for now.

The "12mm_Browning_soclu" has an elevation radius of min -10 to max of 75.
Which is on a par with the "Deck_Gun_GE20mmSingle"
However the "IJN_13mmAA_Gun" has an elevation radius of min -80 to max of 85.
I will set sail for Tokyo bay tomorrow from Pearl, and stay surfaced and see what happens when I get buzzed by the Jap airforce.

you don't need to be attacked. just go to the AA station and try to elevate the weapon. it's either going to elevate right at the start or not at all.

I would like to learn how to use the scope graduations to calculate ships distance, as well as to find good AOB/speed without nav map contacts...is there any tutorial somewhere?

Thanks Hauangua, but i don’t want to activate OTC on top of FOTRSU!

I want to learn how to use actual FORTSU scope graduations...but may be it’s same as OTC?

From what I remember, Capnscurvy would to work on it for compatibility with fotrsu
