Default I have a question..

I recently lost my games machine so had to transfer to another computer. I got SH4 on again, and the mods I was using (TMO and stop the shouting), but was not happy with the water colour in TMO (it had seemed OK before), so I tried fiddling around, like swapping the scene.dat back to vanilla and trying other mods - and then things started to go wrong. Now, thanks to help and encouragment from stirling sources on here, all is well again, with me just running Webster's GFO and RR's corruption management system, so I am a happy bunny -almost.

Thing is, I was sure that there would be a dedicated page in the recognition manual for Japanese merchants - the Maru's - and there is not, yet I always knew when a Maru was approaching previous to the re-install - how? Penny has just dropped.. TMO had an automatic recognition gizmo - it had the sillouette of a ship with a question mark on it, which you could press to activate, and it would tell you the identity of the vessel you were targeting, is that right? I am not dreaming it up am I?

Now, I do not want to go back to TMO; bin there, done that, enjoyed it, now other mods are calling, but I do not see in those that interest me that there is any provision for automatic recognition, nor do I see it listed as a stand alone mod in the downloads section - and I would SO like that again as it is a great convenience. So, question is - does anyone know of this mod and where I might find it, either as part of a mod package or on it's own, pretty please?

"Who am I," asked the Bunyip. "What am I doing here?"
"Please tell me," begged the Bunyip," for my purpose isn't clear."

"No answer!" came the stern reply; "You'll get no help from me!"
Poor Bunyip, he began to cry, "Doesn't anyone know me?"

sob.. guess I musta dreamed it.. oh well..

I think it's more a "I dunno" kind of reply "we wish we could help, but the well has run dry!" - sorry 'bout the rhyme... I do not recall an "ID Ship" plug-in, though someone else might... ??

SH4 has a deep and dark secret. The "hey crewmember, ID that ship for me will ya?" function is hardwired into SH4 and always available if you do the correct black magic mumbo-jumbo. If you look in my siggy and click on TMOKeys. After installing with JSGME you'll hook up the original TMO keyboard to your game installation but I have craftily added a new key combination, shift-i, which activates the "hey bub, what's that ship?" function. It works in any mod combination.

If I weren't so deuced lazy I would have long ago stolen the keyboard layouot from FOTRSU and grafted the shift-i "identify target" command onto it. I really like that keyboard even better than the original TMO keyboard.

Then that mod would be called FOTRSUKeys. But you are all victim of a terminal case of laziness....where's a yawning emoticon when you need one!
