Yes, that's what S3D does. The ship models are in the specific ship folders (each ship asset has its own folder) found in the Data/Sea folder.

The .dat file contains the model.
The .sim file sets up the model to do stuff.
The .zon file creates the damage "zones" to the model.
The .dsd file links the sounds to the model.
The .val file links the........I forget, right of the top of the head!! Having a brain fart!

Anyway, the .dat file holds the model of the asset.

Thanks, Capn. Appreciate the help.

The reason for my asking was s7trikback and I have run into a problem with the Ship Cloning project. In the Names.cfg file there is a listing for NLP_Hap=Big Modern Freighter. There is no such listing in the Sea Folder for this ship.

This is the Big Modern Freighter from FOTRSU.

This is the Large Modern Composite Freighter from the stock SH4.

I'm just guessing here, but I think Maddy somewhere along the way re-textured the Large Modern Composite Freighter along with remodeling the ship and in the shuffle of remaking the Big Modern Freighter things got mixed up and the Nagara Maru supplied the 3d model for the Big Modern Freighter and the NLP_Hap was never used. Just a guess on my part though.

You could try the AOTD.DE web site cdrsubron7, and see if you can find any info there. Traffic has been light there lately.

https://translate.google.com/transla...-sun/?6884464c

that link will take you through Google Translate to their Fall of the Rising Sun pages. This is where I found the most useful clues when chasing down "The Sound". They have a "Bug Reports" kind of sub-forum off of that (Technical Aid).
.
.
http://www.aotd.de/FOTRS/

is their download section, and you might find a ship or two in there. Just be polite...

I am not sure that you are right about that Subron

Please see the following

In my install (just FOTRSU latest BETA, nothing else), the NPL_Hap is a passenger ship

The Nagara has its own entry, as the Big Modern Freighter

Two different ships

OK, first of all I've not mentioned the NPL_Hap. I've used the NLP_Hap. I was not talking about the Big Passengership. Now, I can't find the listing NLP_Hap for the life of me. Not sure where I came up with the nomanclature. The speculation about the ships was just guesswork on my part, nothing more.

max-peck,

cdrsubron7 is qouting the NLP_Hap not the NPL_Hap.
Both has slightly different names, the L & P swapped round.

My thinking was that it could be a typo... I have managed to nuke my complete install of SH4 and am now repairing this.

I am keeping watch on the roster & sea files during this process to see if the NLP_Hap appears at all. If not cdrsubron7 has a rogue ship in his install perhaps..

Regards,
s7rikeback.

Ah yes - I see the difference now

Subron - please accept my apologies for not taking the time to read your post properly

Strikeback - thanks for setting me straight

No biggie, max. Like I said, I'm not even sure where I got the NLP_Hap from. I spent a good hour this afternoon looking for it and came up empty.

Default SH4 Rebuild

After my complete rebuild I have found these errors:

NL_B=JP Medium Cooler
NL_C=JP Medium Heavyloadfreighter
NL_T01=Old Medium Tanker
NACA3=JP Fast Merchant

These vessels are not on the Names.cfg in main Roster folder when installed with Beta v1.0 over a clean SH4 v1.5 directory.

However they first appear in the sea folder in the "100 FalloftheRisingSun_Ultimate_v.05Alpha_EN" version. And are present in every version since, but still no main roster place for them.

Yet, they are active in the nation roster files under Japan.

Not really a biggy as they would be called by their class name in game anyway, just a heads up.

News on the NLP_Hap - did not appear at all. I have since removed it from my job list.

regards,
s7rikeback

I believe that those would be ships imported from FOTRS v2.0. Not 100% sure of that.

Probably just as well, removing the NLP_Hap since I can't find the blame thing anywhere either.

Default Museum

Also found that if I installed all alpha updates in order plus the beta over a clean 1.5 it WILL always cause the museum to CTD during loading on both my systems

However if I only install the Beta over a clean 1.5, the Museum works each and everytime unless I mess a config file up during cloning.

Regards,
s7rikeback.

Interesting, think I'll give that a try also.

V1.3 Museum works fine for me, but 0.1 Beta Museaum still crashes for me.

An interesting discovery s7rikeback. I had ended up installing a "game booster" app on my bigger computer, because I could get the Museum to run on the little machine, but not the big one, and the most obvious difference between the two computers was what loaded in systray at start-up. The game booster thingie shuts down 'un-needed' processes in windows when you run the game, and presto, the Museum ran... However, looking back, I had just done a 'fresh' install of FotRS Ultimate v.1beta, and that might be it. When I get back to my computer at home, I'll have to look at the date / time of that...
