Glad you are up and running. The re-install is one of those things that Windows Installer does, which is what a program is built to, to have been WinXP compliant. You will find most programs do that, where you might get a message to the effect "Windows was unable to remove all components..." What they do is leave it up to the user as to whether or not to delete the residuals. When you go to re-install on top of that, the installer routine sees the files, and does not overwrite them, on the assumption that you apparently wanted to keep them, hence your issue with previous re-installs apparently... live and learn, as they say! I suppose we'll put some more on RR's shoulders to be sure and mention that in the mod's super-dooper PDF "Operations Manual" (coming soon to the mod near you!)... tic

one more question for you or bait or whomever:
is there a FOTRSU-compatible mod for the 3000yd tool?

I just completed a clean install of SH4 in order to play FOTRS. The plain vanilla SH4 launched successfully and I played one single mission. I then installed the latest FOTRS Ultimate over it with JSGME. After launching the game hangs on the FOTRS splash screen and that's it.
My computer is new. My display is 2560X1440. Windows 10 machine. I use ccCleaner.
Can anyone point me to step by step installation instructions or suggest what might be the cause of my own failing ways?

There can be many reasons why FOTRSU would hang. Can you give us some more info. What version of vanilla SH4 are you using? I'm going to assume that since vanilla SH4 worked that you at least have DX 9.0 installed. is your copy of SH4 downloaded or from disk? Do you have any other mods installed besides FOTRSU? There could be other reasons, but let's start with these and go from there.

This is Silent Hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific on a dvd disk. I have no other mods installed. The splash screen comes up in all it's glory, the red bar fills completely and that is all that happens.

The sh4.exe file has read only turned off, win 7 compatibility and administrator only checked, memory above 2gb fix is in and it is installed within a folder on C: drive named Ubisoft.

I Windows Tab key out of there and a message pops up:
File not found: data/menu/data/black80.tga
???

I'd still like to find out the version. When you reach the Main Menu screen the version number is in the lower right hand corner.

I think re-downloading 100_FalloftheRisingSun_Ultimate_v0.71_PublicBeta_E N is a good idea. I have found quite a few files missing from my install. I'll keep you informed of the progress.

That is why the black80.tga could not be found, you need to have v1.5 of the game, which has the Uboats in it - even tho you might not have an inclination to drive a Type IX. You could purchase just the add-on, or buy the whole Gold edition - or both, one for each computer!

Haven't started a campaign yet (waiting for the upcoming patch) , playing in single missions i realized that to sink a dd you need 2 torps. I checked the dd's zones and saw that hitpoints

its normal 300. I added through jsgme "webster's improved torpedoes"
but am taking same results.

Any ideas?

Yes, use two torpedoes.

But don't expect to have the intended results if you add different mods to Ultimate .
