Default H.R. Giger dead at 74

http://www.theverge.com/2014/5/13/57...ger-dead-at-74

Quote:
H.R. Giger, the Swiss surrealist artist best known for designing the iconic "xenomorph" creature in the Alien movie franchise, has died. Swiss newspaper Tages Anzeiger reports that the news comes from public broadcaster SRF, which said Giger died after sustaining injuries in a fall. He was 74.
Rest in Peace

I've got a couple of his art books. I love his style, but I'd hate to have the dreams he must have had. RIP.

Very sad

He'd been one of my favourite living artists and his design style is a huge influence, even on me. It actually sort of bugs me that people reduce him to just being the "guy who designed the Alien" because there's very much more to his work.

Damn, he had a very unique and nice art style, and although he did more than design the Aliens, his design in itself was quite excellent, and beautiful.

I found this on my twitter feed today:

It is understandable, many have seen the movie (Alien) and so know his work through it. But I do agree, there's much more to his work than just the Alien.

I've just googled his artwork and all I can say is he must have eaten a hell of a lot of cheese before bedtime!

It's too bad the 1975 Alexandro Jodorowsky version of Dune never got off the drawing board. he did some fascinating concept sketches for that.

R.I.P.

Thanks for the horrifying sexual horror art you did (look at that Xenomorph's head. Needs to be censored). I'll be having nightmares for the rest of my life

He hated what they did to the Alien in Alien Resurrection which was a piss poor film.

Giger you created one of the greatest sci fi monsters of all time and your work on ALIEN will always be remembered by me.
